Blatantly political
This year's YouTube Rewind was blatantly political, and TFS here isn't much better. For example, where TFS says that it contained
earnest paeans to YouTube's diversity and inclusiveness
it's referring to lines like "Here's to all women in 2018 for finding their voices" and "And to all the refugees and anyone looking for a home". But the most egregious descriptor is that
The video was [...] wholesome
when the video described the "fierce, fabulous and empowering art of drag" while showing this nightmare-inducing image. I don't know what that is, but it's not wholesome, not by a long shot.

Re:Racist IdiocyYou bring up many great points and I'd like to add to them.
Even up to the Middle Ages Europe had no real technical advantage over the East Asian civilizations.
I'd like to point out the importance of (quality) Steel. Clip of a Katana vs a broadsword (related discussion here). Also, European Maritime History is worth a mention.

This will be especially interesting where there are existing adult entertainment businesses with the same name.

Re:I just don't understand
Rumor had it that they outsourced development to China. Chocobos were, for a while, horsebirds, but this was later corrected to "chocopo". (Ads on the linked site NSFW).
Better yet, the collector's edition included a tumbler which could be "damaged" by "items including salt and solid materials, carbonated beverages, milk or other dairy beverages, fruit juices, etc." Not sure how that made it through QC.
Then again, Sankaku Complex just really doesn't like China, so it's possible Squeenix just dun goofed. Perhaps after (more than) 14 final fantasies, this was their game design. Anyone who knew for sure what happened met seppuku.

Re:their internet / home phone is worse
Their internet service especially is awful. Ideally, setting up DSL should go something like this:
- Unpack box, throw away disc.
- Plug modem into wall.
- Plug other end of modem into router
How it works with AT&T:
- Open the DSL modem's management page, expecting to find something useful. Instead, experience a "setup wizard."
- The "setup wizard" requires Internet Explorer and flash, because the setup wizard has to talk to you. Good thing the instructions are also mostly on-screen, unless you're on a netbook, in which case you're just fucked because 600 vertical pixels just doesn't cut it for AT&T.
- If you can click on the "next" button from step 2, the setup program will try to download some other setup program, for Lord knows what reason. Unless you're running 64-bit Windows, in which case the x64 installer will just crash. Or unless you're running Linux, in which case you never made it past step 2, neckbeard.
- Pride wounded, you open the disc, which requires breaking a a seal labeled something along the lines of "open only under the instruction of AT&T support."
- Rage at the disc, because the setup program on it is password protected.
- Dig through the directory structure a bit and find an older version of the setup program that died in step 3. This will finally let you finish activating your account with AT&T, and your DSL modem will now finally have service.
If you're like me (easily frustrated and poorly shaven), there's a few optional steps:
- Immediately call AT&T to cancel because you'd rather eat the business end of an iPhone (you know which end) than give money to anybody who thought any of the above was a good idea.
- Send back your used modem for the largest deposit I've ever paid for a lump of plastic.
- Get sent a bill for $150 over what you owe because they lost your modem.
- Spend a week trying to call their support number. Contrary to what their website and any other department you call will tell you, it's only open until 5:00 in your timezone. (Bonus points for making them call that number themselves and listen to the "we're closed" tape.) (Although you can add services online, you cannot cancel online; imagine that.)
- Finally get somebody to "find" the modem.
- Get told to wait for a new, corrected bill.
- Receive a collections notice in lieu of said new, corrected bill.
- Call back AT&T during work hours. Play back the recording made of step 6.
- Pay correct amount over the phone, and then cancel the card.
- Thank the Almighty God, who makes the Sun orbit the Earth, that your service, bill, and credit check were all in the name of Ranka Lee. (Kira~! ^_>) Let me know if you see her name in a telephone book somewhere; I didn't pay extra to opt out of that.
Can anyone tell me if signing up for their wireless service still requires an acoustic coupler and landline?

Re:Eheh, been following the news lately?
WHICH nation has an elected politician calling for the assasination of a foreign national? Which nation is stopping its own citizens from reading websites? Which nation is putting presure on private companies to follow its agenda without any laws being written? Which nation is performing a massive denial of service attack to censor the net from information it finds undesirable?
Sorry, but if the Chinese think the internet is controllable, it is because the US is showing them how to.
Which nation says that torturing small furry creatures to death is perfectly legal?
Also which nation never actually elected their politicians to begin with?

Re:Little difference?
Compare violent crime, std and teen pregnancy rates etc between the US and AU and I think you'll find australia coming out fairly decently ahead.
At least we can Send mail to whoever we want. Unlike the US.
Really a few pub fights (you're saying there are NONE in the us on weekends??) aren't such a big deal comparatively.
Australia is far from perfect but make sure you aren't a kettle before you call the pot black

There are many other articles on the nature of Japanese women on that site. I don't think I want a Japanese wife.

Re:Oh, Japanese beach town.
http://www.sankakucomplex.com/2009/12/01/we-divorced-because-of-love-plus/ Sankaku Complex might be filled with a variety of stuff that's NSFW, but it's got several articles showing how there's already trouble with Love Plus as it is now. Many women even find cheating with the fictional girls even worse than actually cheating with another real person, apparently.

Re:And DO NOT warn about a tornado during a finale
That reminds me of the semitransparent tsunami warning that appeared in Japan during a sexy scene of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. The warning happened to be placed EXACTLY over Winri's boobs. (warning: NSFW site)

Re:Wonderful reporting courtesy of the BBC
As you said, the BBC claims 200 million Japanese Winny users, relative to the island nation's entire population of 130 million.
It's also romanized "Winny," but again they couldn't be bothered to Google.
Sadly, Sankaku Complex (NSFW!) has better reporting than the BBC.
Evidently, the most "famous" victim so far was a teacher downloading child porn and warez on school computers. Even sadder than the BBC's reporting, he's so far kept his job.

Re:slow news day?
My god, the summary leads you to believe they actually made a designer "space-suit", you know, for EVAs. At least that's what it led *me* to believe.
If you mean Neon Genesis EVAngelion, Gainax has already made a couple of test plug suits.

Re:Good news, but
we still have a proposed Internet Filter, no R18+ rating for video games, and a South Australian government that passed a law saying that every person commenting about the election online must provide their real name and postcode. We have a long way to go yet.
And banned A-cup breasts from mainstream pornography. Reason? Think-of-the-children mentality again. http://www.sankakucomplex.com/2010/01/28/australia-bans-small-breasts-as-child-pornography/ I found that both amusing and shocking. It's not about children's safety anymore, but pushing moral values and acting as thought-police.

iDon't Support Democracy
Funny thing about China right now, is that in order to run a business in China, you must have a Chinse partner working with you. To which, the Chinese have big plans for foreigners looking for cheap labor (NSFW website! though story is very important!)
The question now is, do we still want to manufacture in china, if the Chinese government wants to force foreign companies (i.e. Motorola, Nokia, Sony, etc.) to hand over their Intellectual Property to the Chinese government?
Personally, I don't see why we should outsource goods to China when we can manufacture them here in the United States or at very least Mexico.
The chinese could very well install these programs on goods exported from China or posted in the App Store and Android Market.
Now would be a good time to bring manufacturing back to America especially with the 10.2% unemployment rate and China's intentions.
Of course, Apple won't do that. Apple would rather continue to manufacture a device that has be under lock and key so badly, people have died because someone lost the phone or some other moral implications. (Imagine if HTC or Motorola had this problem, their would be one hell of a controversy!)
But as long as Apple continues to appease the Chinese with a steady revenue from a device that despite being so popular is really becoming a social control, the status quo will prevail...more so since they sell iPhones at places like Walmart. -
Re:360
Apparently some people have gone as far as calling death threats to a "Director of Policy and Enforcement for Xbox LIVE" and his wife (theres also irc logs where he came to say it on #360banned)
There has been modded xbox360 bans before too, so it shouldn't come as a surprise to people when they do get banned. And at least it keeps the cheaters off games.
How do Microsoft knows that a user is illegal and has a chip within? Do they gather information from where???? your paid console??/
If I own a original game but my xbox is 'chipped' isn't it illegal to block me since I paid for the license of the original one??? is it legal to a company in USA to do that?
Is there anyway to protect me against their monopoly over prices or to get my money back for the original ones???
Aren't microsoft shooting its own feet?
Ohhhh damn it, I remembered... I do have a PS3 and it really sucks BECAUSE you can't have a lot of games and you have to pay a fortune for a disk. Besides, they dont accept any credit card, paypal and dont sell credits outside US (or 1st world of course)

Re:What it would take
The Blu Ray disc is pretty vital when you look at the sizes of PS3 exclusive titles. Liar (a much better game than reviews indicate) is about 25GB in size. Metal Gear Solid 4 is even larger and there's no disc swapping. There are already suggestions as to how much of a nightmare the latest Final Fantasy game will be if it is ever release on the XBox360 due to the number of DVDs required.
