At least those Nokia Windows phones were tough:

TBH, they may not have been that bad if Google hadn't blocked them from running any Google services from a native app.

Re:Depends
You'd probably see a lot more of them depending on the country.

Seriously, AGAIN with this?
I guess countries with low gun violence don't consume violent media. I...can't believe that even he would try to sell this idiotic chestnut. This predates "thoughts and prayers" as the go-to do-nothing policy. Seriously, AGAIN with this?

Re:Not homophobic
Sure. But a person uttering those words could instead and equally likely be making a point about the subservient position the person doing the pleasing is in relative to the person getting serviced, without any consideration toward the genders involved.
Why do you assume the bottom/catcher is subservient? Assuming that is precisely why some gay people - me included - didn't find it funny. I didn't go full-blown "Colbert is a despicable homophobe!" like some people but he has dropped a peg or two in my eyes.
As someone quite rightly pointed out earlier, the joke was meant to poke fun at the supposed power dynamic between Trump and Putin rather than just a variation on the lazy gay=bad thing, so it's probably not meant to offend gay people but it was still a lazy joke. So, I think it was beneath Colbert but not necessarily for the same reason that others think.
There's a comic strip - not all that good generally - but that particular one does touch on the whole top=dom/bottom=sub canard that pisses off so many in the gay community.

Re:Strangers in a cold land
Have you actually talked to any Swedes lately?
Most of them seem to dislike that they didn't get a real winter this year.
It's kinda nice to have the temperature drop to 20 below freezing every now and then to kill off most of the wasps and other insects.SATW pretty much nailed how the people in Scandinavian countries feel about climate change.

Mirrors are un-breakable
Yeah because regular non-electronic mirrors never ever get broken, at all!!!
They are all made of iPhone 8-grade gorilla glass, feature a mithril reflective coating and are encased in adamantium.(ob staw comic ref)
I suffered more frequently from mirror broken by anonymous dip-shit while leaving my vehicle parked somewhere (when they aren't straigh breaking the whole car), than I've suffered electronics failure since I've started driving cars with cameras on them.
(And that's ignoring the fact that some cars feature a very nice rear camera view, while the back window is absolutely tiny and thus the rear view mirror is useless).
Retractable side mirrors are really a saver on recent cars.
Replacing them with cameras is:
- one protruding item less that will get destroyed.
- less obstacles that interrupt the aerodynamic shape of the car. -

Re:False dichotomy
The US is now kind of despised by a lot of people around the world. The main reason is how the US mess with the world and how Americans are "arrogant".
Not really. US is a celebrity amongst countries and people like to gossip about celebrities, and especially about scandals involving them - and there's been a lot of them lately. But actually despising the US seems to correlate strongly with being despicable people themselves.
Personally, I think this comic pretty much sums it up.

What really matters
I know, write? Who gives a flying flip about an app to track a jolly magical man with an eating disorder.
Now, if someone would make an app to track the Yule Cat, Grýla, and her progeny, then that I would have interest in!

Re:I dont get it
Perhaps he should have been loyal to Ukraine.
Perhaps he was.
Living next to Russia is like being locked in a cage with a bear possessed by Satan. It demands your life (war) or your soul (puppet government). You can't sell your soul, because then you're a slave to the fine upstanding leaders Russia tends to produce, but you also can't just refuse, because then you're bear food. Your only hope is to let the monster think you'll cave in any second now, so it better focus it's attention elsewhere rather than waste it on an already-secured catch. Or you could join the hunting club (Nato) for mutual protection, but that might provoke the bear into attacking, and if it does, you're mauled, whether or not the other hunters would really risk a Doom II -scenario to avenge you.
The countries unlucky enough to be caught in this real-life horror movie have to walk a balancing act on a razor's edge to survive. It's entirely possible the former Ukraine president was told the country would be attacked if it continued flirting with the EU. Or it could be that he realized Russia was preparing to annex Crimea and did a last desperate attempt to grovel. Either way, he failed, and now it's a question of whether the rest of Ukraine will be attacked right away, or allowed another chance to agree to a deal it can't refuse.

Re:"pro-Russian forces in Crimea"
In the European family of nations, it really does seem like Russia is the drunk uncle who likes to abuse his wife and kids and gets mad when they try to move out and go to a shelter.

My Nominations and Choices
1) Best overall web comic series of 2012. (Any web comic that produced content in 2012): Gunnerkrigg Court is a brilliant webcomic that has a compelling plot, interesting characters and art that has developed superbly since the comic's beginnings.
2) Funniest web comic of 2012. (This one represents the single funniest comic of any web comic series.): Evil Inc. got the most laughs out of me this year, even if a lot of the humour was a bit Dad-joke-ish. Runners up would include: Penny Arcade , XKCD , Scandinavia and the World and Overcompensating .
3) Best art in a web comic of 2012. (Web comic from 2012 with the most amazing art ever): Dresden Codak is, without any doubt, the repository of some of the most geekiest and beautiful artwork the web has ever seen. Runners up would include: Namesake , Lackadaisy Cats , Sore Thumbs and Avengelyne
4) Web comic that was most relevant to you in 2012: Real Life , because his adventures with Harper are roughly mirroring my adventures with my daughter Hailey.
Honorable Mentions (because they'd likely win categories if there were a couple more here): Bad Machinery (Best Story), Eerie Cuties (Best Black & White), Three Panel Soul (Best Drama) and Wapsi Square (Best Main Character), and Sinfest (Lifetime Achievement) among others.

Re:Just socialise the damn thing already
You Yanks fear the word "socialist" so much you spend far more to get rid of it!
You're parroting a commonly held misconception about how politics in the United States works. Firstly, your elected representatives come from more than two parties; Your voters have a wider diversity of candidates to choose from, and are less apt to vote along party lines. This also spreads out the concentration of money paid to your elected representatives by private interests. Put more simply, it's harder to buy legislation in your country. As well, the disparity between the rich and poor is far less pronounced. This results in your legislators being more likely to represent the actual will of the people, rather than the apparent or manufactured will.
WOW! I didn't know Pakistan was *this* awesome! YAY! I fucking love my country! Let's burn some embassies in pride
:pAh, Sorry for the snark, it just that your first paragraph made me chock on my tea (oh, and you owe me a keyboard )
BTW, if you assumed me to be a Britisher due to my qualification, (a fair mistake) allow to inform you that that shit is everywhere. Heck I made a map of all the countries with an ACCA exam centre (I am a bored, bored soul) : http://i45.tinypic.com/1zd8c5k.jpg
I agree with your points, and I think a clarification is in order on my part.
Look, as an objective outsider, I was merely looking at merits of this problem, I do not have any affiliation with either side of the debate.
I understand the merits of this case: the US values *time* factor in the health equation far more than the *cost* factor; American would rather pay A LOT(even take out a loan) to get *prompt* healthcare, rather than pay nothing , or a little...and die in the queue.
But that doesn't mean that a certain mid point *can't* be reached. A lot of the so called socialist countries aren't all that socialised when it comes to medicine (not every country is a Nordic, after all).
Look at the *socialised* medicine in, say, Netherlands and Germany, for example. To sum it up *broadly*, you still pay, just that the state helps out a bit, either subsidising the amount, or spreading it over time, mandatory insurance, or some other trick. All it does it is help you when you are down, so you can worry about payment at a more opportune time, when you are healthy.
However, basically, the problem is that that mid-point comes under the definition of "socialism" and since socialism is evil... you do everything in your power to stay away from that balance point.
Basically, Americans are paying for the *privilege* of *not* having socialised medicine, and paying for it through the nose. Take *Obamacare* for example; the name itself is a reminder of the fact, that, never mind the merits of this act, Americans were actually *insulted* by the idea!
I feel this comic might sum it up: http://satwcomic.com/the-end-of-america
Hence my recommendation; if you *are* going to provide a social service, don't do a half-arsed job of it. Just do the damn thing already, and and do it good. Once you get over the phobia of socialism, then you can get to providing a service that's both competitive *and* cost-effective.
(And you are socialist anyway, from my POV, after all, you provide unemployment benefits of some sort, that's already a *evil* socialist aspect!)

Correct. Iceland is Nordic, not Scandinavian.
People here need to read more Scandinavia and the World (a webcomic that's both funny *and* educational!)

Re:Who's a good police force? You are! Yes you are
Come on. An uncover police officer was there the day before and spoke directly with Kim and could have arrested him there and then, unarmed and to chubby to run anywhere. Instead they had to go nuts with a full on assault to impress the FBI, get there pat on the butt and a promise to allow them into a US free trade agreement, good little lamb http://satwcomic.com/bedtime-drama-2.
So now have locked in your mind the image of the cute little lamb chasing around the everso naughty Kim Dotcom at the behest of a big burly US shepherd with a elastrator behind his back (the lamb not realising it is soon to be http://www.sheep101.info/201/dockcastrate.html, it's in the best interest of the shepherd of course, youch).

Heh. I didn't see that one. I'll have to dl it later. My bro is a bigger Simpsons fan.
There's a lot more bad history (wars) between Sweden and Denmark than Denmark and the Netherlands.
