Re:Oblig: I'm a Mac, I'm a PC, I'm Linux
That is so funny and the Linux guy looks just like my neighbour!
FYI, the Linux guy is Jay Maynard, the Tron Guy
-
Re:Any alternatives?
The ability of the internet user to make his/her own inferences by cross referencing multiple sources basically makes the iconic journalist largely moot.
Moreover, the internet has the Tron Guy...the newspapers/journalists don't stand much of a chance. -

I guess the tronguy will get lucky with this device http://www.tronguy.net/

Re:Still barking up the wrong tree
This is because the FAA has a maximum VH of 87 knot limit (100 mph) for the current sports license.
This is not correct. The sport pilot license is good for any light sport aircraft, with at most an additional signoff required for those with a Vh of over 87 knots but less than 120 knots. My AMD Zodiac XLi is a light sport aircraft, with a Vh of 120 knots. See the definition of "light sport aircraft" in section 1.1 of the FAA's rules. -
Terry Childs should get a Tron suit...
Like the Tron guy (you know the guy who made his own budget tron suit). http://www.tronguy.net/images/headshot.jpg I think I would be cool with Terry if he wasn't such a putz or a-hole and he had a tron suit on or something nutty when they brought him to jail. Overall, he gives people the sysadmin stereotype they all want - hostile, paranoid and a jerk, so it got a lot of play in the media. It is frustrating because many of us fight this stereotype constantly and make huge gains only to have a Terry Childs attitude reinforce the negative stereotype of a sysadmin who does not have a sense of who and what he is working for. Yet, even with all of that, I think if he could get in a Tron suit of some sort, I would give him another shot and it could twist the stereotype into a crazy geek rather than an asshole geek.

still from the film.
Here is a still from the film..

Re:Like flying much?
The whole digitization thing is a pain though. What with all the giant laser dividing you up in cubes and all. Also the spandex uniform you have to wear is not easy on the ego. Though it is pretty cool how the flight attendants worship you like a god and you get inexplicable superpowers.
-
Next: Tron Guy
I bet the Tron Guy is next. Spandex styling will be set back 20 years.
-
Re:That's nothing.
I think the casting decisions for Tron Final Cut is pretty cut & dry.
-
Re:Two thoughts...
What if your body is not aesthetically pleasing in a skin tight suit? Is there going to be segregation when trying to leave Earth? At least big bulky suits can help conceal extra bulges and such.
-
Re:Old idea, new implementationmost of us would look like crap in a tight spandex bodystocking Cue Tron guy.
Yup, nothing better than looking at a bunch of guys who look like they've been squeezed into a toothpaste tube. -
Re:More than just movies
Um you mean like this Tron Guy?

I'm still amazed this guy was stupid enough to do a side view in the leotard.....he's a leotard reotard... -
It's a fun ride
I've been on that flight (courtesy of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, which got to show video of me losing my lunch in return). It's a lot of fun. I hope Professor Hawking enjoys his ride.
Anyone who wants to can go on Zero G's flights, as long as they don't have a medical problem that gets in the way - and they have a doctor on staff who goes over your medical history before you go. All it takes is $3750. -

Tron Guy
I bet this guy is happy

time for me to take a break...
When I first saw the article headline, I swear it read "PC's Role Key in New Formal Wear"
I had about 3 seconds of excitement thinking about playing Tux Racer on my Tux, customized holographic clothing a'la Automan, and the possibility of hacking into the evening gown of a beautiful but dangerous female Russian spy.
But then I remembered this, and was glad I was wrong... -
So... Is this next???http://www.tronguy.net/images/TronGuyWallpaper800
x 600.jpg (Warning: NSFW!!!)Spandex-clad geeks???

In clothesOnce they get this stuff stitched into clothing, it's going to be just about unbearable. As if all the marketing crap of t-shirts wasn't bad enough already, what with our entire culture expressing individuality by paying corporations for the privalege of advertising their products on our bodies, now people are actually going to be lit up like downtown Tokyo. Fan-fuckin-tastic...
Well, I suppose the Tron Guy is going to have a field day with this stuff, so it's not all gloom and doom...

Have you seen the picture?
These pair of babies will make you the geekest of all times, including the tronguy -

Fun With Fashion
Meet last year's winner of the tech fashion contest. Layered Tech is going to explode with these high rez images of the clothing to be used at the MIT event, although I am pretty sure that MIT can handle the bandwidth used by the streaming video. (More Tron Guy Pix HA! HA!)
What the hell is this guy doing? Don't answer that . I'm going to get this one for those days when I want to look like Snuffaluffagus. Oh and whenever I update my blog, I'm going to wear this blogger hoodie. It's a blogger hoodie because... -
Superman and Tronguy should get together
They have similar problems.
-
Nice combination of characters... er.Serious, I can't be lured with Tron and Donald Duck.
Then again, if this dude would be in the game, I'd be buying it in a second.[/cheapshot]

Re:Save this one for your next party
No mention of nerds dressing-up is complete without a reference to the Tron guy.

Is that you Tronguy?

Just so long...
Just so long as I don't have to wear one of these suits
*shudder* -
you have to wear the suits.
They are missing a VERY important part of Tron. You HAVE to wear the suits!
-
X-Wing Suit
While I can't imagine wanting to wear Luke's X-Wing flight suit
Jay Maynard jokes ensue... -
Mod Parent Up!After watching that clip and thinking about myself and my geeky friends - it takes some courage to support your obsession by dressing in character and putting up with stares and criticism from others. It's amazing how one's individuality can be so uncomfortable to others.
Examples:
The moral of the story - everyone can "geek out" about something, but it takes a true nerd to do it in public.

That's me.

Re:I have a geek manager
Please tell me your manager isn't Jay Maynard?
Nathan
-
Oh, it will be low tech
cause I hear they will feature this guy as the main character.
-
Casting...
I hereby nominate Jay Maynard for the lead role.
Of course, that would guarantee that the remake would have an R rating...
-
Re:Disney to Fuc^H^H^HRemake TronYeah, but Tron Guy gets to make a new costume!
-
New lease on life for this guy!
The Tronguy!
-
Starring Jay Maynard?
Please, oh please, have it be a comedy starring Jay Maynard!!!
-
Tron 2.0. Starring.....
TRON-GUY
I hope they give him a part - he already has his own costume.... -
Yeah - MST3K MaterialBut, if there's a new one, I want to be the first to make a costume!
