Does it work at all?
So I'm on BT, and like most people I've replaced the terrible "home hub" with a simple 4 router solution, 5G backbone to distribute wired around the house, single 2.4G AP for non-wired devices, OSPF to manage it all.
It's connected upstream to the VDSL via a pppoe (username bthomehub@btbroadband.com, no password), and the central DNS proxy uses either 4.2.2.2 or 8.8.8.8 upstream.
I've spent the morning scientifically browsing lots of porn sites, and haven't found a single one blocked. A google search for "porn" reveals the following sites on the first attempt, all work just fine.
http://www.pornhub.com/
http://www.youporn.com/
http://www.redtube.com/
http://www.porn.com/
http://www.xnxx.com/
http://www.perfectgirls.net/The search also brings up the following site
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/Which is blocked as being morally unwelcome in my house.
What am I doing wrong?
-
Uh... So much for free already...
There are SOOO many free porn sites out there already, why bother pirating it?
To name a few:
http://xhamster.com/
http://easygals.com/
http://xnxx.com/
http://youporn.com/
http://redtube.com/
etc. etc. etc. -
learn to modify Re:Just like with TinyURL...
with tinurl, you can ALWAYS change the url so if someone gives you a link of
http://tinyurl.com/6qq9399instead, change it to
http://preview.tinyurl.com/6qq9399
and you'll get thisPreview of TinyURL.com/6qq9399
This TinyURL redirects to:

iPad ready porn
Many porn sites are already iPad ready. I've heard (cough cough) that the experience is much better.
A big part of this is how cheap and easy it is to do HTML5+H.264 video. The video editing tools all have H.264 encoders, including batch encoding at least in Final Cut, and a standalone encoder is $29. Of course any HTML coder can learn the video tag. Flash is unreasonably complicated by comparison and also $599 a seat.

Already happening...
This is already happening - youporn already works on the ipad, with no flash.

Re:Not worth that much i guess
I totally agree. And even if someone is crazy enough to pay that much for sex.com, he's gonna have to know how to make money out of it. With all this free porn available on the net, anyone trying to make money out of porn will have more and more difficulties, except with VERY HARDCORE users who will always be willing to pay for higher quality videos, false interactions (sex chat) and all that stuff...

Re:Umm ....
memorizing the porn URLs does NOT help.
Imagine discussing something with your boss, and saying "there's a good instructional video over on YouTube".
Boss: "Show me"You key in "www.you...."
up pops:

http://www.youtube.com/Yeah, this is a serious issue.

Come to think of it, ever tried to fast forward through an flv file? Just doesn't work properly -ever
Youporn.com has done something right, then. Seeking to the 75% mark of a video (before any buffering) jumps to and loads quite quickly and easily.

Here's the keyword (NSFW)
There is a special keyword to use on youtube to get to the porn section.
Here is the keyword (not safe for work): YouPorn

Re:Without porn?!? HOW???
If porn is what you're looking for, there are sites very similar to YouTube where that's all they do.
http://www.youporn.com
http://www.pornotube.comJust to provide two examples.

Re:and
However abstinence is 90% less fun - source
not that this has anything to do with the topic but 70-85% indicates they are doing it wrong, with proper usage, assuing that you get actual sex education not abstinence bullshit, that figure should be up to 90-95%

There are other ways to put yourself out there without Usenet you know. Wonder what the AG thinks about the alternatives? Heh.

Re:Grr sidebar history
No. You don't get what I'm saying, at all.
Slashdot Example:
FF2: I start typing in sl and the first 2 hits are
http://www.slashdot.org/
http://slashdot.org/~0100010001010011/
In FF3: I get
http://www.slashdot.org/
http://www.macslash.org/
You Porn Example:
FF2: I start typing youp and the first 2 hits are:
http://www.youporn.com/?submit=Enter
http://www.youporn.com/
FF3:
http://www.youporn.com/
They use a GET for their form submit so you can go directly to that second page. I can clear cookies, change browsers, use a different computer and that link still goes to the 'main page' and skips the "Ok".
Here's another real quick example I just tried:
new goes to "News for Nerds and not "newegg".
These are sites that I'm not going to book mark because that's not what bookmarks are for. I visit them daily or weekly and for the last X years I've know how to get to them without looking. Hell even IE does this better. If I start typing into the URL bar "new" why the hell would I want to go to a URL that starts with "slash".
I have quite a few servers on my home network. When I start typing in 192 do you think I really want to go to Fark thread 3219040?
Make it another bar, even enable it by default, but I want my url bar back. -

Re:Should be criminal anyway
Um, I think you're making my point for me.
If porn caused sexual activity, we should see a lot of data to that effect. If anything, we see the opposite. Barriers to access to porn have efectively vanished (see this. (NSFW) It's free, it's -widely- available to anyone with access to a computer, and the quality is quite good. If porn cases sexual violence, we should be seeing an epidemic of sexual violence, as more and more people have satisfied their urges. Instead, sexual violence rates have declined in recent years in the US, along with all violent crime. For data, see this.
I recall reading some study a while back that in the case of sexual offenders in particular, they found that access to porn reduced likelihood of reoffense. Not to put too fine a point on it, this is as surprising as finding that masturbation satisfies sexual urges.
As to pot leading to hard drugs, if you believe that old canard, then you're a hopeless case. I won't waste bandwidth refuting this. -

Re:Other sites?

This is happening in Germany as well
A German court recently forced one of the larger ISPs to block access to the Youporn site. Originally they (the ISP) tried it by blocking access to the IP-Address but since Youporn is hosted by GoDaddy, that blocked their customers' access to thousands of other sites as well. Now they have tried it at the DNS level.
The background to this is that a German porn site had to implement stringent controls to make sure the underage did not manage to sample their wares. Youporn did not bother with this and so had an unfair advantage. I read that Youporn is something like the 14th most popular site in Germany.
Several other organisations apparently have similar plans to shut down access to some site or other. -
Agreed.
http://www.youporn.com/
http://www.pornotube.com/
http://www.shareaza.com/
Um yeah, why are people still buying discs ???!? I agree with the above poster, there is no way porno is even going to effect this format war. The internet has taken over that industry and distribution completely. -
Re:pr0n : A summeryListing by ranking (according to my experience):
1. http://www.myfreepaysite.com/ [you need to create a free account, that's all. Trust me, this is a great website]
3. http://www.sexuploader.com/
http://www.pornotube.com/ is a shit. Don't use it.

Re:That's hardly an exploit
Pornotube is mostly for gay content. Try youporn.com instead.

The beauty of the mainstreaming of porn
The beauty of the mainstreaming of porn is that it is a self-runner. More and more people realize that showing sex on camera is normal, and lose their inhibitions to take part. Put cell phone cameras into the mix and you have a real winner. I see an explosion of home-generated sex videos lately, on sites like youporn and pornoamateurs.be. Only question is: why would Telus customers pay for something that everybody else gets for free?

Re:Old "Home Made" Videos
Not true, they have both straight and gay content, although most of it [straight] sucks. A much much better alternative is youporn.com. Mostly straight, good quality content and nice design.
