Re:I want to say Unpopular Opinions Anonymously
The earth is scientifically verifiable to be flat. Vid shows a laser shot 5km (3mi) across the surface of a lake. Steven Hawking did the experiment and claimed to measure 6ft of curvature (which is the amount predicted by the 25000mi circumference globe model). However, there are ZERO independent researchers who can verify Hawking's experiment. This is because the earth is MUCH flatter than academia claims, and fools like you don't verify experimental claims. See also: Replication Crisis: (most "science" findings are bullshit; Pick a published peer reviewed paper & Flip a coin, same chance the "science" is wrong today) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Replication_crisis
NASA is a gov propaganda outfit. Do the experiment yourself. You can see a flashlight from over flat water far further than refraction or curvature should allow. Look into it. Our world is much larger than the establishment wishes you to believe. Would YOU let another "America" happen? How much are continents worth of resources worth? Why not keep it all yourself rather than give it away to "pioneers"?
Furthermore, there is overwhelming evidence that the universe is not expanding. Big Bang (god did it) Creationist dogma rules academia, and presenting findings against it gets you blackballed from astronomy. Protip: Electromagnetism is more powerful than "gravity", it plays a very significant role in the structure of our "universe".
Wise Up: Knowledge is Power. Rulers do not give serfs Power. Academia is a censorship tool.

Fermi's Other Paradox
If you live in a house that has a typical unfinished basement, don't overlook the advantage it offers. With one simple change, you can noticeably lower your electric bill, reduce your carbon footprint, gain extra kitchen space and improve your health. Just move your refrigerator to the basement.
Since the basement is normally cooler than the upstairs, the refrigerator will run less often. This will not only extend its lifetime, but also lower the electricity it consumes, thus also reducing your carbon footprint. The kitchen space previously wasted by the refrigerator has uses that are only limited by your imagination.
Finally, you and your family will directly benefit from the exercise you get with trips to the fridge. Of course it is not convenient - that is the point. Sometimes you might even pass up that extra dish of ice cream, because it's a pain in the butt. However, the size of your butt may be improved.
It's a simple step that can be done in a couple of hours. And the recurring benefits are automatic and last a lifetime.

Statistics are nothing more than math tainted with politics, with predictable results.
Statistics are nothing to be scared of for someone who can think critically.
Statistics can often be pushed a little bit towards what you want: A British classic.
Statistics, like any other information needs to be looked at critically. Now more than ever - people seem to believe anything, especially regarding Trump. Pro and con, even though most of the weird stuff comes from the Pro-Trumps.

Re:CDs... the most under-appreciated music format
When CDs were introduced, they were hailed as the ultimate audio format--and not without good reason. They're more durable than cassettes or LP records. They don't have DRM, region codes or ridiculous menus to wade through like DVDs. The audio quality is fantastic without lossy (or otherwise!) digital compression. They were hyped as having "digitally perfect" sound, and although that may not have been strictly technically true, the specifications are actually pretty close to the capabilities of the human ear. It was marketed as a serious audiophile format, and it lived up to that.
I completely agree with the above statements and assessments.
And now its name is mud, the CD an object of widespread scorn. How did it come to this? Why did this brilliant thing fall so far out of fashion?
I personally put a pretty good portion of blame on the crushing dynamic range compression that so many rock-and-pop CDs are afflicted with. It's infuriating when disc after disc after disc comes out ruined (deliberately, it seems?) with bad mastering. It's got to where I'm afraid to buy any CD pressed after about 2000 or so. I'd rather get the LP release if I can, just because they generally don't lay on the super-compression.
I disagree with this part. It's trivial to refute - it's not that some well-mastered, high dynamic range recordings superseded the CD. On the contrary, the successor has been increasingly-poor-quality digitally compressed audio - MP3, AAC, OGG (courtesy of Spotify), and Youtube Videos (their own special hell of MP3). You may well value a high dynamic range and be willing to purchase 180-gram vinyl, but if that was a mainstream sentiment, iTunes would be selling FLAC and Best Buy would be selling LPs instead of CDs. Neither of these is the case.
The reason CDs fell out of vogue is because of everything except the audio quality aspect. Want to play a specific song while driving? "Hey Siri, play Highway to Hell" or something similar. Boom, it's playing. Have the same impulse with CDs? Open your 200-CD binder, flip through pages, try and find the CD with the song on it based on the corner-eye view of the cover art (good luck if it's all burned CDs, which themselves took hours longer to create than iTunes playlists), eject the CD currently in the stereo, put it somewhere it won't get scratched, insert the other one, and change to the correct track number...all with one hand and half an eye. It was approximately as dangerous as texting and driving.
Driving not the issue for you? Allow Gary Gulman to reminisce about the experience of owning a Discman for you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?.... For the tl;dw crowd, they would only fit in the pocket of someone wearing pants with pockets explicitly sized for them. Battery life was relatively short (a problem greatly exacerbated by the use of the near-required anti-skip), and again, if you wanted more than *maybe* 20 songs, you had to carry around a CD wallet in addition to your CD player. It was a mess.
Oh, and just to put to bed the quality argument, CD players seldom came with headphones that were better than Earpods. I got a set with my first portable CD player (it came from Koss) that was halfway decent for a bundled pair of headband-style headphones, but pretty much everything after that was terrible in one way or another. While Beats inexplicably brought full-ear headphones back into vogue, nobody was wearing them at the time...and earbuds were outright atrocious; I never heard a pair that had anything that vaguely resembled bass until around 2011. Now sure, I'll absolutely agree that even a modestly priced set of bookshelf speakers and a budget Marantz receiver will produce an audible difference between a CD and a Youtube video...but I would say that 95% of CDs were never listened to on hardware that could make the difference audible.
What killed CDs was the evolution of a more convenient means of li

Re:Black Coffee
..."Do things in moderation, not to excess".
Key exception: smoking. Always bad for you.
Lesser exception: alcohol, if you're female (any) or male (more than 1-2 drinks a day).
Well, I don't mind that you are factually incorrect about smoking, but holy shit on the acceptance of alcohol, which even consumed in moderation over a lifetime leaves people with no ability to form new memory, and once the damage to the hypothalamus occurs, it is not reversible. If you are a woman, never, never ever drink alcohol, unless you do not care that it will leave you nearly helpless in your senior years when it will be most important to have your wits about you. Alcohol always causes some level of dementia, and there is no going backwards, only arresting the damage by ceasing the practice of consumption of any amount.
Regarding smoking, you are technically wrong, as most are, but better sate than sorry, right? It is easier to demonize smoking than the actual "thing" that is bad, which is not tobacco and not smoking. If you ever noticed how healthy Native Americans are usually described and depicted from history, you have to wonder about the old ones that sit around together smoking all their lives. Turns out it actually all does depend on what you smoke. If you're smoking reconstituted tobacco and the chemicals infused in ordinary national brand US cigarettes, then you will soon die and are a victim of the 1950's chemical revolution and what Big Tobacco has been doing to Americans ever since, i.e. killing them by the hundreds of thousands per year, and a victim also somewhat of the US Department of Justice that "brought them to justice" in the early 1990's, only to allow them to continue the identical methods of producing their deadly product and more or less continue their genocidal practice of murdering Americans for profit, along with a big fine that was ultimately forgiven and taxes passed on to the victims.
As it turns out factually and scientifically, smoking tobacco isn't inherently all that bad for you. It does cause emphysema, which isn't good and no one needs, but it doesn't kill you, with cancer or by any other known fatal illness. What is killing people is that most smokers are not smoking tobacco, but half-tobacco, half recorrugated garbage off the floor made into a paper before shredding and infused with like 300 carcinogenic chemicals intended to increase the addictiveness of nicotine and smoking.
US Surgeon General Report Smoking and Health
No. 1103, p.112
Death rates for current pipe smokers were little if at all higher than for non-smokers, even with men smoking 10 pipefuls per day and with men who had smoked pipes for more than 30 years.
(No. 1103, page 92)
Among the pipe smokers.... The US mortality ratios are 0.8 for non-inhalers and 1.0 for inhalers.
...which means pipe smokers who inhale live as long as nonsmokers, and pipe smokers that don’t inhale live longer than non-smokers. -

Troll moderation? My comment above was not intended to cause offence. I believe it is well known that over-consuming sugar, which is everywhere in our modern diet, causes surges in insulin. The over-stressed insulin receptors lose sensitivity to insulin, gradually leading to "Type 2" or Adult Onset Diabetes. Re: No, but I donâ(TM)t work at McDonalds eit
Yours is the second post mentioning advertising non existent jobs? Wtf? Can you explain why they would do this?
There are lots of reasons:
You're forgetting what is probably the most common that started years ago:
0. To fulfill the legal requirement that no qualified American could be found thereby allowing them to legally hire the foreigner they already decided to hire even before the position was advertised:
Most job interviews these days are no so much to determine whether you're qualified for the position or not, but rather to determine a legally valid reason to disqualify you for the position so that they can legally hire the foreigner they already decided to hire long ago!
Today's job market sucks.

Sounds like pandering to millennials. My passion in tech is making things simpler and faster for users. They instead talked about grand ideas and the importance of doing things differently from everyone else. They sent me a rejection by email saying they didn't think I would fit into their culture because of my age. They put that in writing. That's just plain stupid and opens them up to a lawsuit.
Anyway, their location is pretty damn nice as this video shows:

Here is the story of creimy the mountain and his royalties!
This story was inspired by cdreimer, the parent poster. The story was written by a visionary on cdreimer birth date.
The story of creimy the mountain explained:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...Creimy is a typical mountain who poses for postcards, living with his wife Ethel, a tree, between the cities of Rosamund and Gorman, California. The main features on his mountainous face are two large caves, resembling eyes, and a cliff for a jaw, which moves up and down when he talks, puffing up dust and boulders.

includes quotes from Pomp and Circumstance March No. 1 in D major (Edward Elgar), Johnny's Theme (Paul Anka), Off We Go Into The Wild Blue Yonder (Crawford), O Mein Papa (Paul Burkhard), Over The Rainbow (Harburg/Arlen), Star-Spangled Banner (Smith/Key), Suite: Judy Blue Eyes (Stephen Stills)

Companies are what they do themselves
Google is a a software company that makes some hardware.
Google is an advertising company but if you call them a software company it's not far from the mark.
Apple is a hardware company that makes some software.
No they are not. They are a software company that only sells (most of) their software with a piece of hardware. But the hardware is just the packaging - not the secret sauce. Apple doesn't make hardware - they outsource that. There really isn't much difference between Apple's hardware and the competition. They DO make software - it's the core of what they do. You can tell what a company's core business is by what they do themselves versus what they buy from others. Apple's software is what people pay for. Few would buy an Apple computer without OS X and few would buy an iPhone if it ran Android. Hardware is critical to Apple's business model but calling Apple a hardware company is to misunderstand the company at a fundamental level.
I doubt Apple will ever get Maps to the quality as Google Maps is. It isn't money or resources, but how the company culture approaches the problem.
I agree with this to an extent. Apple isn't really culturally oriented towards organizing information like Google is. Apple is good at interfaces and design and user experience. Arguable among if not the best. But they never have been the best at applications and big data. Not to say they are incompetent but others do it better. Apple is exceptional at some things but they tend to pigeonhole themselves with design dogma and are more focused on building integrated devices than worrying about the information that goes on them.

Inciting Violence. I'm going to be completely blunt. The reason the right wing (I refuse to call people in favor of radical change "Conservative") get more bans is there's a lot of them hinting at violence. There's a good example right here. Jones backpedaled as best he could but the meaning was clear. It's so common there's a name for it: Dog Whistling
Alex Jones?? Alex Jones is your "example" of a " conservative "? Alex Jones is a nutter fringe conspiracy theorist. Trying to portray him as somehow representing conservatives in general is reasonably taken as one or more of: uninformed, blinded by ideology, dishonest, incompetent, membership in the nutter fringe at a another point.
The radical right has a lot of unhinged people than even the extreme left. There have been no cases of left wing terrorism since the 70s.
By that do you mean none that you are willing to mention? Like this mass political assassination attempt from last year?
Stephen Joseph Scalise (/sklis/; born October 6, 1965) is the current United States House of Representatives Majority Whip and representative for Louisiana's 1st congressional district . . . . . James T. Hodgkinson, Attempted Assassin Of Steve Scalise, Already Being Erased From History
. . . a Bernie Bro named James T. Hodgkinson shoots at a bunch of congressmen for the explicit reason that he hates Republicans and wants them dead? How do we fit that into the preferred narrative?

You're entitled to your opinion right up until it becomes incitement to violence.
2016 was a deadly year for cops — and BLM may be to blame
The cop murders in Dallas were carried out on July 7 by an African-American ex-Army reservist who’d expressed his hatred of Caucasians, particularly Jews. He shot to death five white police officers and injured seven others and two civilians before being blown to bits by a police bomb-squad robot.
Ten days later in Baton Rouge, a Marine Corps veteran, described by an official as a “black separatist,” shot to death one black and two white law enforcement officers and injured three others as revenge for the shooting death of a black man by police, before being gunned down by cops.
Is that more of that "right wing violence" you're warning about?
and ask the black and LGBTQ communities about how they're treated down south some time.
It's surprising how much nuance can inject itself into that question.

I'd always heard this attributed to Winston Churchill.
As for Hitler--I thought everybody knew that he retired to a bed & breakfast in England.

See subject "Dear WANNABE 'SiDeWaLk-ShRiNk of

* Righteous indignation (not anger) & I always let YOU destroy yourself but the VERY FACT I have to DEAL w/ you makes me feel as if I've been dunked in used french-fry oil & can't WASH IT OFF (now I suppose you take 'comfort' in that right? I pity you - you've the DEVIL in you).
