    That's a rather pessimistic view.

    No, it's a very realistic view. It's precisely the reason ASLR has been implemented so broadly, to hopefully slow down the potential for attacks. And this, again, shows why it's very much a failure.

    Memory safety of managed languages in particular does not constitute a tremendously high bar. Or do you provide opcodes for random peeks and pokes? You probably shouldn't.

    That's different, the mechanic gets money from you directly (the physician analogy is not relevant in many countries). The people writing these reports are NOT getting a direct benefit from th reports. It's a lazy statement of someone unaware of their function. Most likely it's a group of people from academia, public works and yes industry that make the point. While the guys from the industry may have some monetary interest, it doesn't affect the other groups.

    Actually, if you bother reading those reports, you'll find out that what they advocate is not waiting until things are about to crumble to make the investment because the work is so close to being a rebuild that it's much more expensive over any given period of time to do so than quickly making a little patchwork early on. The reports actually advocate spending less money on repairs... by doing them in a timely manner. So the entire analogy is flawed.

    You don't even need to be a civil engineer to understand it either. If you've ever lived in a house whose owner decided to not spend the money to fix a little leak in pipes, or in the roof only to have to dish out an order of magnitude larger amount of money to fix the damages resulting from the neglect, then you have a healthy appreciation for the soundness of the advice.

    But Infrastructure spending is not sexy, as John Oliver would no doubt agree.

    With regard to net neutrality the more polite way to put it is. Net neutrality favours 99.99 percent of business, not just numbers but also revenue. Dropping net neutrality only favours 0.01 percent of business, so that 0.01% tried to sneak in by buying off politicians, however that moment seems to have past as net admins of those 99.99% of business have informed management what a dangerous move that would be.

    Both the Republicans and the Democrats got gobbled up by the Corporate Party but both the Republicans and the Democrats are slowly but surely breaking free.     This also happened to another streaming personality, Destiny. Speaking in the 3rd person; speaking as the very racists he's combating. I guess the N word is to controversial to say in any context, he was banned from Twitch.

    And if someone actually listens to your video of Gore, he or she will hopefully notice that Gore does not predict anything like that at all - he cites two different researchers, one who says "by 2030", and the other who says "75% chance for the next 5-7 years". The first one is still very much on track. The second one lost his bet - if via the 25% chance or because his modelling was wrong is anyones guess.

    Somethings that are not considered in these comparisons is all the pollution put out on the journey from initial searching for oil, drilling test wells, drilling the well, extracting the oil, transporting it to refineries, coal fired power used to generate electricity to refine, transporting from refineries to gas stations and subsequent burning in the vehicle?     The science is far from settled. The models have an uncertainty due to their data that puts them all into the realm of fantasy, in that they are conjecture, and cannot stand up to statistical scrutiny. If someone is a denier, for some of us anyway, it means that we've not been able to see anything that is statistically reliable enough to act on. We don't act on the emotion, we're waiting for something actionable, not some model with a degree of uncertainty that could either put us into catastrophic warming, or the next ice age within the next 100 years. Could go either way. Check out this video for some clear, concise, understandable information on how the statistical models used are all based on flawed data, and using that flawed data this guy was able to make a simple system that predicted what each of those flawed models would produce, without needing millions of hours of CPU time to compute: https://www.youtube.com/watch?...

    This kinda displays why C++ is unsuitable for small memory stuff. The C64 had remarkably large games in its time, and yet by using C++ all that is possible is a simple pong clone. I wrote for the C64. This "demo" is very unimpressive.

    He tried to figure out what people would do for a few bucks on Fiverr and was dumbstruck by the fact that people would even do such things. The people drumming up these stories are creating outrage to clickbait people because they don't have real news.
