I included commentary on this in a video I posted almost three weeks ago. The bottom line is that they chose an absolute worst-case scenario, something that has prompted DJI (the maker of the drone used) to demand that the video and findings be withdrawn (copy of the letter).

It seems that this test may have been more about promoting the university than gaining actual scientific evidence (note the prominence of the university's name on the wing under test). This is supported by a comment on the video I posted in which one viewer states: "University of dayton is seriously the lowest ranked school in the state of ohio, people from dayton...it is mostly trailer parks. All the women there know how to work on cars. Not a bad thing if you need a clutch rebuilt. Dayton isnt actually a city anymore but now a poor suburb of Cincinnati (best city in the world)"

You don't know what you are writing about. I have worked for 30 years in the aerospace field (specifically testing high performance aircraft). There is a HUGE difference between soft tissue and metal parts and highly-dense batteries. Any turbine engine would be utterly destroyed by a 1-2 lb drone.

The Space Shuttle Columbia disaster was caused by foam hitting the wing at high velocity. Though I suppose anyone younger than about 20 can be excused for not knowing materials in high-velocity impacts don't behave the way we're used to them behaving in everyday life. (e.g. metal bullets "splash".)

That's probably what he is afraid of: people still drive horses and carts for fun, but they are relegated to minor roads. Like horses, humans will not be able to keep up with what comes next: self driving cars. Imagine a special "diamond lane" for autonomous cars: you could have those cars do 180km/h and follow each other really closely, but a human would have no business driving in that lane. Then, those lanes are expanded and highways may (or may not) be left with a single "slow poke" lane for human drivers. Then come intersections without traffic lights, etc... At some point it will be too dangerous or too disruptive to let human-driven cars onto the highways and major thoroughfares in town.

We will soon reach a point where human-driven vehicles are no longer allowed on roadways because we're not as good as the computer driving the car.

The existing automobile is responsible for untold waste and pollution and deaths, but it is also responsible for much of the quality of life which allowed us to develop the technology to build autonomous vehicles. The horse and buggy had to be invented before the steel mill could be invented, before the car, before the TV set, before the computer, and therefore the autonomous car. One innovation fuels the next in some way.

We did teach machines how to drive. They still only have their learner's permit, but with a little practice, they will exceed human drivers by any measure.

Except one: only humans will understand the beauty of the machine under their direct control, the thrum of the engine, the instant response of thousands of pounds of steel to the touch of your finger or your foot on the pedal. It's visceral.

I've lamented before that today's kids don't know about the tactile experience of choosing their music, putting a cassette in the deck and fast-forwarding to find it. Once they're proven to be safe, everyone from MADD to every medical group to every government agency will be finding ways to promote the sales of autonomous cars over conventional cars.

A baby born today might never know human-driven cars, like a person born in 1997 might not know "Be Kind, Rewind" stickers.

A good story well told is always fun. What fucked star wars, idiots who did not understand science what so ever, thinking they were geniuses at everything because that's what their marketing department told everyone, allowing really, really, dumb stories, like bad Saturday afternoon cartoon stories, being told with hundreds of millions of dollars and trying to cover over the mess with PR=B$.

The animated series Star Wars Clone troopers was better written and had better stories than the movie even Star Wars Rebels was better written and had better stories. Reality is the star wars movies a Kathleen mary sue rey Kennedy egoistic shit show, to push her ego into the story and parade it to the rest of the world, what an asshat, short people https://www.youtube.com/watch?.... Nothing to do with SJW nonsence just the ego of one person, a short person who felt they were short changed on the sale of Lucas Arts (seriously in the movie, men suck, tall women are stupid and the taller you they are the worse you were portrayed in the story, the whole thing is a silly and funny as fuck).

There are many fan-edits to Star Wars out there, both for restoring the original Star Wars, removing the SE additions, and for making the prequels less cringey. The most famous de-specialisation project has an article on even.

There are also a few groups that have located surviving prints of the original movies, scanned them in 4K and are performing digital restoration on them. See for instance, Team Negative1's work on.

For Disney/Lucasfilm to re-release the original trilogy in good quality would be difficult though. The original negatives were cut apart when making the SE and before the 2004 DVD release, their copy of the SE was scanned only in Full HD (1920), not even 2K (according to Lowry Digital who did it)
