Tieflings (half-demons) are another example of this trend.
Tieflings are not half-anything, they are humans with a distant fiendish ancestor, showing only one or two traits of demonic heritage.
In 3.5 hybrid classes were rough to play; why would you want to play a Paladin (a weak fighter bolted to a weak cleric) when you could play one of the core four and do something well?
Are you -crazy-? Paladins are probably the most powerful class in DnD! Oft ridiculed for being the choice of people wanting to play "easymode", both RP and combat-wise.
I'm sorry, I could read no further. You claim to be a DnD vet in this beginning of this article, but obviously have no clue as to the intricacies of the game.
The technology can't determine what aspects of the image you're looking for.
For example: I want to find more cat images. I feed it a picture of a white cat. I am more likely to be returned results of white dogs than, say, tabby or black cats.
The problem with a percentage is that it does not consider the total landmass of the United States, which is far, far greater than that of South Korea. It's much easier to achieve 90% broadband penetration when you have a small country and little ground to cover.
In an RTS or FPS...Counterstrike, for example, the playing field is always even (or close to). Teams start out with the same cash, same basic pistols, and the same list of equipment options. Any advantage that one individual gains over another is pure skill, or blind dumb luck. And you can't really get rid of blind luck.
WoW, on the other hand, is an RPG, where victory often means having the right 'spec' (character build) or gear to beat your opponent. And this is not chosen at the start of the match, this is built up over months (or years!) of playing the game. You can be a better player than Jonny549, but he has that [Crown of Destruction] and full Teir 2 set while you don't, so the odds are atrificially stacked in his favor. Not because he's better, not because he's done better in previous rounds...but because he got lucky on a few loot drops or has more free time.
WoW is still an RPG, where gear and character builds can overcome skill. It's a horrible choice for competative play, especially with sponsors promoting the 'skill' of the victor.
I do see your point though, that studios try to play it safe. It's still a load of rubbish that they think we always want happy endings, or that a movie will do poorly without one.
As far as expansions for MMOs go, the Burning Crusade does have a TON more content than normal. No new classes was a glaring flaw though, and it will be interesting to see if they can get away with that in future expansions.
I'd like to see a game with sufficient AI and enemy design that after seeing several of his allies laid low by my shotgun, the enemies switch to their longer range weapons.
I've known World of Warcraft was a money-sink from day one. So this guy is saying MMO's cost money? I know Second Life has no monthly fee, but come on...a pyramid scheme?
It's not easy to make money in your First Life either, therefore, real-life must be a pyramid scheme. Damn you, God, you sly bastard!
I was originally planning to sit on the fence regarding the HD-DVD/Blu-Ray format war until a dual format player was released.
And then I heard Sony was using their licensing agreements to prevent such a device.
Sony just refuses to do what is best for the consumer, be it root kits, memory card interoperability, or licensing rules like this.
Of course they are! Do you damn Apple for not releasing OSX on PCs? Microsoft for not allowing Halo on Playstation hardware? A Ford dealer for not selling you a Nissan 350Z?
Companies exist to turn a profit based on a percieved customer need or want. Sony invested quite a lot of money into the development of Blue-Ray and is trying to recover from a gaping finacial wound brought on by that and the PS3. They would be very, very stupid to allow a dual-format player to exist this early in the game, which would put money directly into the pockets of the competetion. What you want isn't viable for Sony to recoup R&D losses; they will not go bankrupt just so you don't have to make a format choice. It's not evil, it's business.
Question. How does Bill Gates or Microsoft have anything to do with GTA IV? Rockstar developed it, Take-Two publishes it, and it's coming out on multiple systems, only one of which is an XBox.
You need this guy to test:

Breaking News! Sony game franchise to be a Sony console exclusive!
In a related story, the sky is blue. More details as they come in.
Hooray, another PS3 I can choose not to buy!
Get 'em while they're ho-...errr...lukewarm!
Bungies has NOT said this is the final Halo,
They only said Halo 3 completes this story arc.
Does this mean Cartman's power level will be OVER NINE THOUSAND!?

Unless I'm misunderstanding something?

Because Se7en ended on such a happy note. ;)

Is the the first time in console gaming history a launch system may be 'better' than the revisions of the same product?
Remember, remember, the fifth of November...
It's called Counter-Strike.
"Talking With TV's Most-Respected Games Journalist".
That's like saying "talking to the best, disqualified, Olympic athlete." How did he almost get to compete?
Four fingers actually, you forgot the thumb.
Next time on "How to Tell You're a Nerd": Reacalling the number of fingers on the switch to an alien device in an 80's Schwarzenegger movie!
Japan huh? And now it's dead?
That's going to be the most expensive plate of sushi ever!

They didn't survive that crash.
Mad props, Gabe and Tycho.

Somebody get Jack the memo.
Gran Turismo HD is a FREE product to show off the GT5 engine; considering that, "10 cars/single player only" isn't too shabby.
I can't find a mod option for "Incorrect". Damn.
