Ok, I'm not meaning to troll in the shlightest, but I seriously doubt that he "started as a pothead"
Odds are he started on booze. Same as everybody else.
While I do not deny that the "hardcore" drugs beat the living hell out of people's lives, and I have the upmost sympathy for what you personally have most likely gone through, the war on ganja is pure unadulterated bullshit. The only proven tie between pot use and hard drug use is the dealer - you go in to buy weed and are offered , you try it, you get hooked on it.
Again, I feel your pain in having to deal with this in your family, but as far as I'm concerned Alcohol is a bigger gateway drug than anything else out there. The only reason you don't hear the government crying on how xx percentage of alcohol users become drug users, like you do about pot users, is the government makes a farking fortune off of booze & have no desire to ever dare cry out that alcohol might be bad.
The bottom line, and its simple, is its about the TAX REVENUE.
Forget about the profits from the casinos the state makes/etc (although that too is VERY signifigant). I'm Canadian (dont hold that against me) and I play a shitpile of online poker. Make a damn fine amount of cash on it too.
I don't pay a single cent of income tax on my winnings. Part because the online gambling sites have no mechanism for reporting gambling income to the governments. Although I'd still pay my fair share if Canada taxed gaming "income" - thankfully we do not.
All this asshole wants is for Mass. to reap its taxation windfall from all of you who win gambling online. If its thru the state casinos - he has a direct line. If its from some cayman islands offshore gambling company, they know you aren't going to report the income, nor pay taxes on it. Add in that the offshore site reaps the profits (your gambling losses) as well, its no-win for Mass. to open casinos & do nothing to stop you from playing on an offshore site.
Dosn't mean this guy isn't a douche. He most decidedly is. Of course the government wants a monopoly on gaming, its all about the dollars. But thankfully some are standing up to this asshat-ery - you should be able to choose where you spend your gaming dollars.
...the just need to offer a 3-dimentional touch interface with such classic titles as "Lap Dance Simulator", "Prostitute for a Night" and my personal all time favorite "Play with her Pussy 2: The Dream Genitals"
...but the document linked in TFA states clearly that airlines have to provide said data to the TSA 72 hours before departure for all confirmed passengers they have...this doesn't mean that you can't book a ticket under 72 hours, or get on that plane. They realized that 90% or so of passengers are booked over 72 hours to departure, and that way they can clean up the last-minute fliers faster.
That being said, its still bullshit, without a doubt. But its NOT going to stop last-minute fliers from being able to fly.
And again, its not that this isn't complete horseshit, but they're already passing your infromation to the TSA - they're just doing it within 15 minutes of departure now (or 15 minutes after departure for international flights).
I bought a new laptop about 4 months ago, pre-loaded with Vista.
Yep, I've had signifigant problems. The removal of MS-CHAPv1 forced me to upgrade my office's vpn/router. Now works perfectly supporting both MS-CHAP 1 & 2. I have a couple of pieces of software that like to give me grief, but nothing I haven't worked around..
Memory useage sucks, I admit it freely. My laptop is a beefy box, but every now and then it slows to a crawl. There are bugs...oh yes there are bugs. Media Centre has issues at times with DivX files. Driver support is spotty at best. The Ultimate edition has got me diddly-squat over other editions really. UAC is retarded "Yes, I'm sure I want to move this file....yes, I want to connect to....aw fuckit"/disable UAC.
I've grown to HATE Vista.
Now that I've gotten that out of the way, I really don't hate Vista. It works - for the most part. Things are signifigantly more stable even now than back in the pre-release days (I've been testing since Beta 1), and I have hope that SP1 will fix some of the more annoying crap. Drivers are coming...although in the same vein you can't blame Microsoft when vendors choose to discontinue driver support for (x) product - thats the manufacturer's business choice.
I in no way think Microsoft released the next thing to perfection in Vista....but I really don't think it is complete ass either. Look at the release of Win95, or XP, and you'll see a similar pattern of spotty driver support, some applications failing to work, etc. The only real problem this time is everyone seems so hell-bent to beat on Microsoft that they're causing alot of the issues, being writing dodgy drivers, or software bugs in their products, etc.
I'm no Microsoft lover, be assured....but if the vendor community as a whole actually worked with Microsoft (and Microsoft with them) to get their shit done right, then quite frankly Vista wont suck...at least not as much:)
Vista right now is very WinME-like, but the OS does have potential. At least I can still surf for porn:P
I used to be involved in civic government as an elected official. Within days of being elected I was forbidden to speak to the press as the official voice of City Council was the Mayor.
Of course, in my instance, I told them to shut the fuck up and if they even remotely thought that I was going to never speak to the media they may as well go fuck themselves, because I'll talk to whomever I goddamn want.
There were of course certain things that legally I could not discuss, which was a different matter....but they learnt quickly that I wasn't going to sit back & let myself be fucked on the council table under some self-righteous gag order.
This to me is really no better....government NEEDS to be as transparent as possible, or otherwise, bottom line, its the citizens that get fucked. This gag order for the NHTSA is no better than what the rest of council tried to do to me - and if I was employed by the NHTSA I would gladly put my opinions of right and wrong over my job, and tell them to go fuck themselves.
IANAL, but I was a politician.
Canadian standard contract law contains the same "If one part of this agreement is declared invalid.....the rest is still fully enforceable" as the USA.
However, by my understanding of canadian law...backup copies are protected legally under fair use, which would make (in theory) the "meat" of the contracts from the article discussion null and void, so the only things left would be the crappy legalese that doesn't mean shit.
With all due respect, you're an idiot.
Legally, you need 1 copy of Office (or whatever, with VERY rare exceptions) per (at least) Concurrent User even if you are using Thin Clients.
In the Case of Office, since everyone has Outlook open 24/7 you're screwed anyway.
Citrix may ALLOW you to run 1 license of Office/whatever for everyone there, but that doesn't make it legal.
All they need is a case of baseball bats on the plane.
"In case of a cabin seizure, a small bat will fall from the ceiling. Take the bat, and beat the shit out of the hijacker until he is unconscious"
I'm a WoW player, just back & very casual in my playstyle. Do I give a crap if anyone can see my Character's build/gear/etc? Not one bit.
I can see where some of the hardcore types might want to conceal their information, but IMHO its not a true "Your rights" issue - they are not revealing any information about YOU, just your character.
The only "risk" here is if someone has some "secret" character build that kicks ass, its now exposed to the world - but on the same token, its not just about the build, but the player behind the keyboard.
So a long-winded post to say "No I don't give a crap":)
For me, it has worked. Now granted, I've worked my bloody ass off for 10 years since getting my certs, but I'm just now moving into a Manager IT position.
The degree WILL get you respect that most cert-only guys (especially today) get - but bottom line, if you want to advance, if you're willing to work HARD, train, upgrade, etc, then the education you have is IMHO less important than what you are actually capable of doing.
Ok, I'm not meaning to troll in the shlightest, but I seriously doubt that he "started as a pothead"

We all know Hawaii is the easiest. Hello McLovin
If the MAFIAA actually went after this, they would actually get some respect from me. Not much, but some.
Come on, do it, or we will use it in our defenses!

Yeah, its a sad sad joke. Sue me.

It just goes to show - when Sony puts their top minds in a room, there's nothing they can do.
(Hey, lets face it, despite this exact article being a Sony "fuckup", one could apply my comment above to pretty much ANY company)
I forsee a massive eruption in ameteur pornography available through google searches in the near future.
If this is the case, per ESRB policy, then why did GTA get spanked with a post-production AO for the Hot Coffee mod?
Seems a bit hypocritical to me.
+1 Insightful? What is it, bring a troll to mod day today?

Posted a link to this article on Fark - the discussion thread was killed instantly.
I'll join the revolution to proudly display the number everywhere
That means it HAS to be good, right?

Its about time....Microsoft has finally recognized itself as evil. Hell has officially frozen over :)

I went the certs route instead of a degree.

Yes, its my 2 cents
Mabye?
It is not about making money, it is about making a difference.
So says the company that charges me $60 a year so I can keep my Madden rosters up to date...and not much else.
yeah, EA is a very successful company. But in terms of true originality? They've sucked for years.
