    The value of /. isn't necessarily the repackaging of material, it's the commentary on a topic. Yes, there's a lot of crap, especially at -1, but you find those nuggets that have a ton of cool info.

    I think you missed the point.

    He's running Ubuntu on his iBook, which does not support the internal modem.

    Why he's running Ubuntu instead of the perfectly functioning MacOSX, is perhaps the subject of another article.

    This is possible. I found a "hack" for it in MacAddict or MacWorld a few months back.

    It required drilling down into a ludicrous amount of files and folders.

    Takes a reboot as well.

    But it survived the Tiger upgrade.

    I didn't think DECnet was responsible for logicals. I thought that was the file system... Give me logicals, VMSish symbols and most importantly, file versioning on another OS..... NOW we're talking....

    Everytime some sort of a list comes out, whether it's top 100 songs, best ice cream flavor, all time movies, you're always going to have "aww man, X needs to be there," or "why did Y get there? they suck."

    It's a list man. It's opinion. It's a list of Blogs, and it's not that big of a deal.

    Maybe in blogebrity's eyes, Margaret Cho doesn't have anything to say? Maybe she says more than those D-Listers that DIDN'T make it.

    It doesn't look like they explained their system here.

    There's no ISO available online. It's to encourage you to buy the CD, which is well worth it. That being said, you can download just enough to do an FTP/HTTP install. It's pretty easy.

    ZeroConf lets iTunes search for other local iTunes and share media libraries. IIRC only iTunes knows how to talk to these other iTunes instances, because there's no ZeroConf standard "media library" facility. Not to pick nits, this was a very informative post, but Limewire for Mac OS X also knows / shares iTunes libraries.
