Matrox M3D was my favorite $99 graphics card from 1997. It made Quake2 fly. Too bad the driver support stopped midway through 98 from Voodoo2 popularity pressure.
The Aliens QUAKE mod was the one that was foxed. The creator of that went on to make AlienArena, with super shameless self-promotion with that damn linux.com "review".
you must have:
- tanks
- guns that fire bullets
- soldiers
- realism
- fans that can't decipher anything more than the above in gameplay terms
and you've got a winner.
Shame OA and Fortress Forever didn't make it. OA was only 7 votes away from being in the Top 100 and it didn't even call its community out for any votes. Ever.
if you think that's bad, wait until the General Protection Errors hit everytime you reboot Windows.
Win95 was in the market during this support ticket. Win98 wasn't for another 6 months.
Q3dm6ish and DM4ish are his old maps he made for Quake and were donated under the GPL from him. They have nothing to do with Cube.
Are you aware that Cube has a completely different, and incompatible mapping system that wouldn't have been compatible with those maps?
SC2000 ran fine on a 486SX 40MHz.
SC2000 is overly more complex in the gameplay field though, and isn't really suitable for beginners. Simcity is great. SimTown is just stupid (though changing what your person says to random swears is a laugh sometimes, and identifying stray penguins in the town)
...that it didn't even lock the files away from the user's own will without any way to access it.. That happened on a XP Home Compaq OEM computer once when I copied around 2000 files to a folder, like some anti-piracy countermeasure.

Does this mean I have to turn in my old copy of Sierra's Driver's Education '98 for its Drunk Driving simulation?? Say it ain't so! :((((

Is Slashdot going to post news about 100+ chars/stages collection no-talent Mugen games next because it's on the Linux platform?
but they'll never win my vote because they can't get Monster Truck Madness to run.

purple.com always delivered what it promises.
Groundbreaking games existed before Halo?!?? Say it ain't so!!!
DAMMIT i don't want my first life to be second life :(

Hedgewars is a better game, at least they do not get carried away with graphics and swearing and even has actual AI and playability in it
S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Rise of Spongebob Home Alone 2 The Game of the Movie cartoon Sinistar game series
Mods are considered free games now? I don't think the dependency of another costly commercial game equals free.
the whip.wav sound is non-Free!!! infact i think the only Free sounds there is in it is the voices

Are you disappointed that the review isn't a praise-all guide to running AA written by Joe Barr? Seems like it.
OpenArena uses resources from Cube? That's news to me. Thanks for lying, TFA.

And stripping online support of expensive games to force them to buy new versions is a worse tactic. Pot kettle EA!
fx5200, gf6200. 50fps in Quake3 can't be THAT bad!
no one mentioned the video hardware, or i'm too tired to find where at least. Hope it does OpenGL :/
I wonder what happened to Infinium? It tried to do this.
Kinda hard to dig facts out of one sole teaser video.
Why not just implement violence support in ipv7? Who needs to undercut them, when you can uppercut (to the point of Toasty)?
