That depends... are we talking about the verb?

Why is it just video games that are subject to all this scrutiny? Board games cause violence too.

My sister was perfectly capable of flying into a murderous rage if someone else purchased Boardwalk or Park Place in a game of Monopoly when we were kids.

  10. Re:I take a Libertarian POV. on Time To Discuss Drug Prohibition? · · Score: 5, Interesting

Even if drugs were legalized, it still doesn't mean their carry-on effects, such as murder, drink-driving, et cetera, are legal.

I think a lot of the crime related to the drug industry relates to the fact that drug entrepreneurs cannot depend on the police to defend their property rights with respect to the goods they sell, and are forced to handle their own security.

I imagine the streets would be safer if one was allowed to make a phone call and report that their entire inventory for narcotics was just stolen and get the police investigating the robbery and trying to return the stolen property.

I'm sure the police would appreciate the irony as well.

Can 'War Crime' be a unit of measurement for terribleness and quantity?

I find it really difficult to get a new measurement out of my head until I've found a place to use it.

For example, I'm 200 pages into writing a romance novel for the sole purpose of using the line 'He was hung like Armageddon.' I've never even read a romance novel.

The DRM on the Windows Media Player plugin for Netflix doesn't work because my monitor is too big. I shit you not. It took a lot off googling to figure out the problem, but the player won't play when I have my 24" widescreen hooked up, but will with my 19".

Does the silverlight plugin have this same restriction? Either way it'll be nice that I can play these on my Macbook Pro now.

  15. Why is this a good idea? on Fictional Town "Eureka" To Become Real? · · Score: 5, Insightful

I haven't seen the show, so forgive me if the writers have handled my objections in some clever fashion in one of the episodes, but..

I don't see the upside to this, it's easier now than ever before for people to collaborate remotely, negating much of the need for being in the same physical location.

I do see a downside to this, putting all our intellectual eggs in one basket makes a pretty attractive target for terrorists, whether they be Islamic, Luddite, or some other group in the future that isn't particularly keen on progress or reason as a means of dealing with reality.
