It's not entirely his fault though - most new technologies and techniques get slammed here. This is unusual in that none of the +5 rated comments (currently) are negative.
I, personally, think it's unusual because you'd expect the largest group of nerds on the net to embrace technology rather than bash it.
I, for one, am willing to give up features in order to have a cheaper, smaller phone. It's too bad they don't sell the Siemens SL56 anymore, it's pretty much perfect.
I want a Shadowrun-style datajack. I want to be able to jack into my computer, car, whatever. I honestly hope I live to see the day where this stuff is available at a consumer level.
How come when Microsoft tried to do this with passport everyone thought it was evil.
You're on Slashdot, do you even have to ask? Microsoft could donate $1 billion to cancer research and people here would still find a way to make it seem evil.
Keep in mind that they run what's probably the most popular free e-mail service out there - hotmail - and there's no telling how much the spam they have to process costs them.
It makes sense that he'd only sell it for $20 since so many more people are likely to buy it at that price point - "Oh, it's just $20, I'd like to see this, and if I get screwed, well, it's only $20, no big deal".
I believe Microsoft owns the license to make Shadowrun videogames. I hope they use it to enter the MMORPG market.

Thank you, Franck.
Yes!

I don't think it's the features in GIMP that suck - it's the absolutely atrocious interface.
i am sure sitting infront of a computer monitor each day is a bit worse than me using my cell.
The LCD monitor manufacturers should really grasp onto this to boost sales. "Buy an LCD or get cancer!"
Yup. Getting 36FPS in Doom 3 at 1024x768 in high quality and 42 in HL3 at the same resolution is DEFINITELY "stuttering along".
Maybe you should actually look at the benchmarks before you jump to conclusions?
Very easily:

Oh no, I wasn't joking.

Bah! I won't be satisfied until I have a datajack implanted into my head.
Screw non-invasive, I want invasive.

IIRC, Blockbuster has to pay a MUCH higher per-copy fee than the rest of us since they rent them out.
Bingo. No in-network phone = no service.
They're not JUST doing it for brownie points.
Keep in mind that they run what's probably the most popular free e-mail service out there - hotmail - and there's no telling how much the spam they have to process costs them.
Organization whose aim is "to create an open resource of knowledge" applauds open-source programmers! News at 11!
That's the best idea I've ever heard.
... free and balanced!
I'm not sure if it's sitting at the computer so much as what they do while sitting at the computer.
See, they always told you you'd go blind.
Torrent please.
Yes, but it's all the same data, still. If you only count UNIQUE data, the number is MUCH, MUCH lower.

As anyone who has worked retail can tell you, far more than 20% of customers are wrong.
AND NO THE ITEM ISN'T FREE JUST BECAUSE IT DIDN'T SCAN. YOU ARE NOT WITTY OR CLEVER.
Well, that all depends on if you want 10MB, 100MB, 1GB, or 10GB :)
I'd have to argue with you and say that the Space Quest series was funnier, IMO.
Projections speak of a 2.5 hour battary life
Did Sony design it?
