    The news and financial systems are so intertwined that any strange news will make financial systems go crazy. We need to desensitizing the system so any news needs to be verified before it is take to be true. Unfortunately our society has gone from a "think before go" to a "go before think" so now we are suffering the consequences for this now.
    Anyways I saw that news item on my phone news message though that was bunch of male bovine feces but I double checked then I knew it was real nonsense. Pity we don't allow time to check all of our sources so we don't back pedal for a retraction later.

    Not necessary. At my previous workplace which is a Fortune 100 company and we discovered an serious bug with one of our vendor's systems and we wanted to discuss with their management and we had legal consul from not only the company, the "strategic partners" of this company was there to ensure their "reputation wasn't damaged" because of our discovery.
    We, IT group, contact our corporate legal consul and they concurred with the other companies legal consul so to "minimize" press impact of this bug so that the "strategic partnership" holds.
    Nothing new. It's is the normal pain for working at an commercial company with "strategic partners".

    Apple is not as bad as Microsoft but Apple needs to allow their OS to be installed other systems without hardware support. But since Apple only has about 7% of the OS market I think this is hard sell for Psystar to say the Apple has any monopoly per se in the entire market. However Psystar can assert that Apple ties it OS to its hardware which I think violates the Clayton Anti-Trust Act primarily and some parts of the Sherman Anti-Trust Act.
    Any civil lawyers here can help me with this?

    I don't know what laws are in Canada for contracts but in the US and California this will be totally illegal. One person won a case in the California Supreme Court against a telco for claiming "Unlimited" service but the telco "changed" their plan to "limit" there service and the person sued about change of services without consent and this person won.

    Actually FastTrak sends you a anti-static bag so you if you don't want to participate in the driving times between signs and cities which uses your FastTrak to see how fast you can drive between two points. This is same as stopping these thieves stealing your ID from your FastTrak when you are not at the toll plazas. The problem is the thieves all be around the toll plazas in the San Francisco Bay Area trolling for IDs. However there are alot of CHP units at the toll plazas also so it would be interesting to see what happens.

    I have several co-worker that are here from Japan and they have an average network speed of 55mb/s and feel like I have Yugo on a Autobahn.
    It is a pity that our nation doesn't have the guts to revamp the network infrastructure and update our network to industrial world (or better) network speeds.

    They have done that for biometric readers where they cut off fingers or other body parts to fake out these. Yes, I think they would put you in a anti-static bag or box for a server.
    A criminal will do anything to get there stuff depending what mental state they are in. If they kidnap you then they already are doing physical harm anyways so having this will only identify you easier if they kill you.

    This stuff that these people have send is not really not meant to educate people about the court system but scare the kids about the "evils" the downloading music. I believe that downloading music illegally is a bad thing but using these tactics will backfire most of the time.
    Some people get an high for doing something illegal so showing it in comics doesn't stop these people, in fact, will encourage them to do more illegal activities since they will show other how "illegal" can they be.

    I think this is good thing also.
    We need to protect the endangered species that poachers use in reverse. Like Talipia for White Tuna.
    However, the money for getting illegal items is so high that poachers will do anything to get these so we need to stop the market for these illegal items. Stopping people who have money and willing to pay for it first order. If they won't pay for these items then the poachers will have no incentive to poach.
    We need DNS bar coding so we can truly what we are getting.

    To quote Mark Twain:
    "The coldest winter I ever saw was the summer I spent in San Francisco."
    However, I did notice our weather here in the San Francisco Bay Area has been cooler than normal. I live in the San Ramon Valley, east of San Francisco, and the normal temperature average high temperature is 79 degrees F since June 21 but notice that our a average is now 75 degrees F.

    I think we tried that on the mainframe at my old workplace and it was fairly quick. Not as fast at the dedicated servers we had at that time but I think with a little tuning it would rocket. We were working with our development group and RedHat to try to run Linux on a mainframe.
    However, a change in development schedules forced us to stop this so I have no idea what happen to this.

    Ditto. It appears that Apple wants us to the "final beta" for their 1st generation hardware. I got the 1st generation PowerBook G4 which was the TiBook and all of the problems it had (ie hinges). Now I learned, as much as you have, to hold the horses on new 1st generation stuff and wait until they work out the bugs before partaking in the new hardware or software.

    I get a ton of those "Your vehicle's warranty has expired..." which all of them and it variations have flooded my company's phone system. However I have no idea who is the real caller is since the caller ID's are spoofed and since we are open company we need to answer all calls so they is the problem. I hope that FTC will find these "female donkey orifices" and stop this "male bovine feces".
    However there are companies that do legitimate business using prerecorded messages to call you that something is ready. For example Walgreens uses prerecorded message to announce that your prescription is ready to be picked up. I wish that the law doesn't affect these legitimate businesses since you have a pre-existing business with them.

    Not necessary the best thing since some telemarketers have spoofed phone numbers here also.
    Spam, telemarketers, and other junk distributors will go through any means to get their junk to you.

    I bought an system preload with Vista last year since the application we were using was Vista ready so I had to replace it with XP.
    You will be surprised how many applications are not Vista ready so that is why IMHO people have to downgrade to XP.
    I don't know what is hold up for developing or migrating to Vista but in the old Biblical term:
    "...the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak."
    Similarly:
    "The Vista is willing, but the applications developers are weak."

    For the last month or so I seen a double or more increase of spam on my mail server. According to my mail server stats my total incoming mail messages remained the same but spam increased 10% per week in the last four weeks. 50% of that spam is bad enough to be deleted outright but I scan it before it is deleted, 40% is in quarantine, and 10% is questionable for the user to view and provide me tune spam filter for spam/ham.
    We only have 24 people here since we are scientific research organization we have email address in many places like scientific publications so this is were most of our spam comes from.

    My father & mother-in-law both had kidney failures and relegated to kidney dialysis machines. I seen the various sizes of kidney dialysis machines at the kidney dialysis centers but never though one for the size of a infant or toddler. It is sad to see children about 5 years old that need kidney dialysis due to many factors but at least they have an kidney dialysis machine. Kidney dialysis takes much out of you and it never a permanent solution. I never though a infant or toddler will ever need one.
    It is great for these doctors to make one for this infant and they should find a manufacture to make them for infants and toddler that will eventually need them. It is great for them to have the technical knowledge and creative skills to make such a device.

    I remember a long time ago one of my co-workers was using a dating website in the 1990's and put another person's picture instead of their own picture. It would be interesting to picture of the girl when she arrived for the date!
