Supposedly someone is. 2K games has the license for X-com, and they (via Irrational or one of the Bioshock teams) are making... (drumroll please) AN FPSagain (insert sad trumpet sound here). I've heard others state we should call it 2K-com, as it is a 'reboot' of the franchise. Why reboot? Why not remake! Arg. If you look at the lineage of Xcom/UFO Defense: Xcom1, Xcom2, Apocalypse (real time turn based hybrid), Interceptor (hey, they like turn based strategy, lets give them a flight sim!), and Enforcer (an FPS - ugh)
However, all is not lost: Firaxis (another 2K studio) is also working on a alien turn-based small team strategy game. If anyone can do it right, I believe Sid Meier can. After all, I like (and play) Pirates! and Railroads! I wonder if this one will be called Xcom! or UFO Defense! Maybe just Mars Attacks!
(Alright mods, I'll get back on topic) I wonder if we'll get a manual...
Even the disciples carried swords, you dimwit. With that said...
Source please. In the story I remember, one of the disciples stole a soldier's sword and chopped off his ear. I suppose he was going for the head/neck area, but whatever. I'm betting the soldier was caught off guard [heh], because Jesus (Yeshwa?) was always preaching peace, so he wasn't expecting any of his disciples to go ballistic.
Freeing slaves was not what was on Republican's minds back then. If so, the Emancipation Proclamation would have been issued in 1861 instead of two years later on 1863. The real issue was State's Rights, or does a state have the right to Secede from the Union. Besides, the factories of the North needed a place to dump all those goods they were producing. So, see, Republican listened to big business, even 150 years ago. Although, I will say you are partially right, did Lincoln express a desire to see slavery limited to the states that already had it, even before he took office.
That would be trivial to weed out as your IP will be completely wrong. Also, under the assumption that most visitors will provide correct information, they can simply exclude unrealistic samples.
Wait, we are talking about the government here, right? You know, the one that had stimulus money coming in from districts that didn't exist...
I believe you are referring to Warlords, a turn based game from the late 80s/early 90s. Here's the link for the game Realms that you mentioned. I didn't play this one, but the Wiki makes it sound more like a RTS game than a turn based one.
Err, wasn't that game Master of Magic? I don't think Sid Meier did that one. Nope, that was done by the Master of Orion folks.
Whatever happened to those guys, anyway? Wiki is very sparse on details.
No, New Coke was a scheme to get people to forget the taste of 'Old Coke' so that they could make 'Coke Classic', which replaced sugar with HF Corn Syrup.
AFAICT, they did it again with Mr. Pibb to Pibb Xtra.
And there's no chance whatsoever that this will ever happen to Mac OS X, so don't lose sleep over it.
Uh what? Do you really think they put those TPM chips in there for show? I believe the want the ability to lock it down, and they're just floating the idea on the iPad. If it takes off, they'll apply it to their desktops as soon as reasonable possible. If it is unpopular, they can always remove disable it in the next rev. Apple faithful all know to buy rev2 of any product they put out.
Oh, yeah! That's what I want - coupons off of the next game that I buy. Seriously, does anyone get anything from class-action suits? Apart from the lawyers, of course, and sometimes the company itself. You see, I was involved in one class action suit, and all I got for it was a coupon off my next purchase of a ZIP drive. I mean, really, I got burned once, Iomega. Why would I buy your crap again?
I do. I frequently play the greats from 5, 10 and even 15 years ago. Yes, the graphics aren't always so flashy, but some games are just timeless and don't need flashy. Others get patched to be flashy. I even have a 5.25"/3.5" combo floppy in my machine. You sound like you need some titles, so here you go:
Star Control 2 (still on the shelf, still have the Star Map - although I use the electronic copy I obtained) 4 floppies
Dungeon Hack (yes yes, it's a Nethack clone set in the DnD world. I love the Cleric and hammer tossing/returning spell! Also on shelf) 4 floppies
System Shock (I think there was an effort to port it to a newer engine using the same graphics) 7 floppies
Xcom (UFO Defense for you UK folks. The 1.3 patch removes copy protection, but totally hoses the sound effects) 3 floppies
Xcom2 (Terror from the Deep) 4 floppies (but you lose the CD movies in this version)
Total Annihilation and Core Contingency (some features still not found in RTS games today) CDx2 and CD
Master of Magic (although Age of Magic was a decent successor)
Aces of the Pacific - 3 floppies
Prince of Persia ('91) 1 720k floppy - man that game was hard
Darklands (with 1.7 patch - yes I realize it's basically a very pretty text adventure, but the realtime combat system (and even the 'magic' system - aka virtuous priest - cleric and alchemist - magic user) was unique in it's age. Too bad it was so buggy and unstable when released) - 8 floppies
Supaplex (computer themed Boulderdash/Rocks-n-Diamonds clone? with catchy music) 720k floppy
Renegade Legion (hasn't been another one like it to my knowledge) 2 360k 5.25" floppies or one 720k floppy.
Heroes of Might and Magic II (the operatic voices were cool) CD
The Legend of Zelda (complete PC rewrite - Zelda Quest v2.1 win98/DOS only) 5MiB - freeware
any gold box game from SSI (Curse of the Azure Bonds - 4 360k, Secret of the Silver Blades - 3 720k, Dark Queen of Krynn - 3 1.4M, Unlimited Adventures - 2 1.4M)
Doom - 4 floppies + patch floppies (although, admittedly, I have been using ZDoomGL, DoomLegacy, Boom/PrBoom for playing.
Sadly, most of these games look like crap on modern flat screen monitors. I haven't fooled around with DOSBOX scaling just yet, since I just recently upgraded my monitor. What bothers me is games like Neverwinter Nights 2 and similar SecuRom titles. They can be installed 2x, and then you get - "you're a bloody pirate if you install on more than two machines!" Can I help it my HD died? (why do think I kept all those floppies?) Did I buy the game or rent it? There doesn't seem to be any way to extract the files from the install-shield packages. I'm surprise no one has come up with a way to do a registry diff and file-system diff to create workaround installers for games that won't install without permission. I can always (manually) patch the game later, but not if it is not installed. I'm too old to be pirating games I've legally bought to help support the development houses I like.
What I'm getting at is most games from 5-10 years ago are still playable. There is a range of games coming out now that won't be playable unless purchased through STEAM/Impulse/what-have-you - assuming they don't leave the SecuRom bits intact to limit activations.
Easy, Ship it back to your vendor or reseller. You'll get your system back in a couple of weeks. What? Too long? You have two choices then, 1) Buy a temporary desktop or a laptop (yay free market at work! [/sarcasm]), or 2) buy new BIOS chip to plug in, from your vendor (of course). The chip will have an updated TPM/TXT signature on it. I'm sure that's what Hollywood would want you to do. Don't expect the chip to be cheap or anything though. On second thought, scratch that. Hard drive manufacturers don't let you update the firmware, you have to send the whole drive in (just try to find a firmware update on Seagate's site), and there's no guarantee that you'll get the same drive back. Perhaps they'll start leasing instead of selling computers, then?
What's needed is nice yellow background with a large, grey-black, 3D-ish button that says "DON'T PANIC" in large, friendly letters. When they press the button, it takes them back to right before they 'Allow'ed the 'bad thing' to happen, so they can hit cancel, and all will be well with their systems. We need to pressure virus writers to implement an analogue to The Evil Bit for their binaries.
From link above:
1) Restart your PC
2) Logon and wait for the black screen to appear
3) Make sure your PC should be able to connect to the internet (black screen does not appear to affect this)
4) Press the CTRL, ALT and DEL keys simultaneously
5) When prompted, Click Start Task Manager
6) In Task Manager Click on the Application Tab
7) Next Click New Task
8) Now enter the command:
"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" "http://info.prevx.com/download.asp?GRAB=BLACKSCREENFIX"
And this my friends, is exactly why Windows is not ready for the desktop in 2009. I mean, you have to type in random junk into the command line to fix a buggy Microsoft patch - Can we expect grandma to be able to do this? More must be done to make Windows user friendly to all!
Little square boxes or folders that hold round thingamabobs that holds them bits-n-bytes. Although they mostly *lose* the bytes they're meant to hold. I have a whole crate full at home. I even use them from time to time. I hope my bits are still in there, I want to play Master of Orion and Darklands (all 8 disks!) tonight.
[grumpy old man mode]
Now get off my lawn!
[/grumpy]
Whew, almost forgot to turn off grumpy mode. That would've been bad.
I agree that the serial numbers portions of the MAC address are supposed to be unique. However, (back in the day) I've seen an instance of 4 Compaq SFF desktops with identical MAC addresses cause havoc on a Novell network. So don't bet your bacon on a unique MAC address.
You should try one of the mirrors. I cut my download time down from 4 hours to 45 minutes. I like that they are classified by location and speed. Find them here. Source.

Ah-ha! Another Dungeon Hack player. I see you've completed the first level. The word is strengthen (they're talking about potions in that section).

Didn't the War of 1812 start because British captains were 'impressing' American citizens?

I believe this is a case of (tcp) dumps or it didn't happen...

Not quite correct - ancient Hebrew has no vowels. From what I recall, modern Hebrew has dots to indicate which vowels sounds are to be used.

Yes, but wasn't the boyfriend in the class? Why would she slice-n-dice a random teacher? Unless she introduced them.
I know, I know *woosh*
Now watch this post get an offtopic mod.

Kinda hard to have PvP when there's no multiplayer...

Only if the 9-year-old is a nazi.
