    1. I've heard the prismiq is pretty awful.. just looking at their support forums shows that people are having trouble getting even the basic functionality of the box to work without crashing. It looks as though the people that have one now are essentially beta testing the product for them... even though it shipping.

    2. you'd better hope your neighbor is using a cantenna... since that's a directional antenna, you shouldn't have any problems unless he's pointing it at your TV. :D

    3. The bandwidth required to stream a divx file across the network really isn't that huge... your average 20-minute tv show is about 160mb, or 8mb/min- which works out to a little over a megabit. Even on a congested network (as long as there are no drop-outs) it should work fine.

Probably quite a few... what many people fail to realize is how massive the numbers are for a relatively simple impact. Check out this article about dropping laptops. They dropped laptops in various bags from a height of 40 inches onto concrete to see what kind of shock loading the laptop experienced. The worst out of the bunch clocked in at a little over 200 G's!

    http://www.codidirect.com/reviews/mobileComputin g_ 02-01.asp

55 G's really isn't that bad, when you think about it... and as long as you're mindful of the forces involved, designing an object around this is not that tough. Hell, laptop hard drives are designed to survive over 100 G's (while they are off, though.)

That is the absolute cheapest way out, because you'll get a deal on the lifetime service, too. I have the sony SAT-T60, and paid over $600 for the unit and the lifetime service when I bought it over three years ago. I'd pay that much again, it's worth it. I've upgraded a lot of my home theater equipment since then, but quite honestly this unit is about as good as it gets. You can have my tivo when you pry it from my cold, dead hands!

There are a number of factors. When talking to passengers in the car, you will not:

    - take your hands off the wheel to use the phone
    - take your eyes off the road to answer the phone
    - take your eyes off the road to dial an outgoing call
    - use BOTH your eyes and hands to write down a phone number someone is telling you

And not only that, but the people in the car have the ability to know when to shut up and just let you drive, since they're seeing exactly what you are. People on the phone have no idea and they'll continue to ask you questions for which they are probably expecting a fairly quick answer to.

I just bought an iriver 395t a couple weeks ago, and I love it. It's their top of the line flash player, and as far as I know the only one out there that actually comes with 512mb of memory installed. It has a pretty damn good FM tuner, can record (and encode) at up to 320kbit, and is about the size of a pack of gum.

Anyway, back to my original point... iriver releases firmware updates on a fairly regular basis, so it's probably only a matter of time before all of their players will have ogg support.

How the hell is that any different? I work for an adult company, and I'd say about 25% of my job is keeping people from stealing our content. There's a daily barrage of people trading our content in newsgroups, yahoo groups, message boards... you name it.

What you just said feeds off the stigma that adult content is somehow illicit, which it is not. As creators of content we have exactly the same rights as your "favorite artists" to protect their content.

Those rules are not made for people like you and me- they're made for the idiots that don't know how a cellphone works, and think that bluetooth is something they need to go the dentist for. On a certain level I'm glad rules like that exist, but then there will always be stupid people to enforce the rules that don't understand exceptions.

Back to the article- The author mentions how hard it is to dial without having tactile buttons. THANK YOU! that's why I can't stand any of these hotshot new universal TV remotes, or even the apps for palm/visor that provide that functionality.
