I buy a phone in order to be able to reach people when I need, be it by voice, sms, mail, whatever. I might use it for web browsing when I really need some info in a hurry and I don't have my tablet/laptop with me. For anything else a phone is just inconvenient.
Xoom all the way especially the 3G version Put a decent 4.4 android on it,xposed installer, a few tweaks and you're good to go. Mine still keeps a charge for almost 2 days and it's the perfect replacement for my laptop when I'm on the run:p

If media placements are a bad form of advertising, what's a good way to help us buy?
The old, trusted word of mouth. The best advertising invented. And why would you need someone else help you buy? Are you so stupid that you don't know what you need? Do you need help when deciding what food/clothes/housing/car you buy?
With the costs of low-end Android handsets (even those aimed at the developing world) being so cheap these days, why does it still make sense for manufacturers to make a phone in between a "dumb phone" (that has no internet access, no installable apps, no Java and just does calls, text and maybe music playback and some built-in crappy games) and a full-on smartphone?
Because there are still people who don't give a shit about internet/apps/java on a small screen mobile computer? I want my phone to be able to do calls/sms. For the rest I have a tablet and a computer.
Can't companies be fined for spamming in the USA? The statement that Uber wants the "ability to send special offers to riders' friends or family" is a clear declaration to spam, since a person *cannot* opt someone else into recieving marketing emails.
As long as they send a message YOUR phone to said contacts, it's YOU who is spamming, not Uber. Spamming failbook style FTW
I expect the number haven't been publicized, because they are still to limited to have any significance, and also because the cars have been running under fairly tightly controlled conditions.
So, under controlled conditions, they were still involved in accidents. I wonder what's going to happen when they let them loose. You know, under normal conditions.
