    The problem with the "Jet pack" is that it is an inherently foolish and inefficient idea. That much power, in that small a space, with that many stability issues makes for a nasty combo.

    You could say the same thing about motorcycles, but I wouldn't give mine up for anything in the world.

    I'm guessing from this statement that you are of an age that you didn't buy your own groceries before these "savings cards" were invented. The point you're missing is that grocery stores always had weekly specials. The "savings cards" did not introduce any new savings, they just introduced customer tracking in order to get the sale prices that had always existed. There is absolutely no new benefit offered by these card programs, it's 100% to the benefit of the store, yet the sheeple just accept it without comment.

    I would say that storage is not end user noticeable, as both formats have sufficient space for what they do - store hi def movies. That only leaves price, and maybe DRM (arguable I admit), at which Blu Ray loses both.

    Before SP1, the laptop took 1 minute, 51 seconds to boot. After the update, that figure dropped by almost 20 seconds.

    Microsoft in its stronghold (PC OSes) made the same exact mistake that Sony made in its stronghold (consoles)

    The difference is that Sony's mistake with the PS3 resulted in defections to Nintendo and Microsoft. Microsoft's mistake with Vista results in sales of...XP. Not a very costly mistake.

    surely it's long established that "number of colours" refers to the number of possible colours an individual pixel can display

    But if you want to be pedantic, then what is the definition of "display"? I would say that "display" means to present information in a form perceivable by the human eye. If the dithering technique used by these LCDs is perceived by the human eye as millions of colors, then it is in fact "displaying" millions of colors.
