I'd rather see pictochat via the NDS wifi so I can have conversations like this. Really I have been looking for a portable that I can just do email and IM for a very affordable price, but haven't found anything to my liking. Web browsing can wait until I get to a computer most of the time, but I do love google's SMS service for my old phone when I need to find a store outside of office or home.

Let's see, back in HS I cared about two things while others cared about three. I cared about having fun activities (billiards, bowling, friends) and girls. The third thing which was popular in my HS was drugs. With the cost of gaming, who wouldn't rather spend that money on any or all of the three I mentioned?

  3. What you like.... on Nintendo DS Lite FCC Tested · · Score: 1

Listen if what you want is to say, "hey I have a shiny new *item*" then wait for the DS Lite or get a PSP (oh that hype died). If you want to play some fun games NOW, for a slightly cheaper price (DS now costs $129 compare to $150 for the Lite), then go buy one now. I knew Nintendo was coming out with a revision and I knew it would be this year, but why I bought a DS? I bought it for Mario Kart, I got the MKDS Bundle. Then I picked up some extra games. There is nothing wrong with the current DS. The size is comfortable (I'm an adult male), the battery is 1 hour short of the GBASP with no wifi, and about half the GBASP with wifi on at all times. All in all, I'm not upset about the remake or my purchase. All you fools keep waiting for your DS Lite, I'm still going to having fun while you play with... yourself, I guess.

  4. Re:Bingo: change the economy on Hunting Down Gilfarmers · · Score: 1

Some of this I can agree with and some I can't. I have played FFXI for about 5 months, then cancelled my account. I couldn't deal with having to play for +5 hours straight just to get some gil or xp. It was fun and great when I started and the gil was easy to get and the xp was tough. I tried started another character to get that fun part back, until my clan got on to help me level, but they had their own missions to do. So I quit.

Now I also play ET (Enemy Territory), and I like that because I can play for an hour or 8 hours. I liked the fact that after one day the XP was reset for everyone. MMOs were too slow for action for me, but sometimes FPS are annoying when some people at stupid.

The whole party system in FFXI is also terrible. What if you don't want to stick with the same group all the time. After level 30 I got pissed because more than half my time was wandering around for a party where someone won't aggro some insane mob++ (or more than one). Now in ET you fight and you gain XP without having to party with people. Basically you should be able to party without creating one. How many times have you had a party member do nothing but collect XP? Well I say the XP should be distributed based on your actions (damage to mob/healing party) and your level. So you can have a wider range of levels. It was so stupid that once I was 2 levels a head of the lowest level in our party that I had to leave or wait until they level him/her up.

Just my rant, MMOs are just not for me until they change up the game schema a bit.

Exactly, Nintendo can easily port all the DS games (and improve them) that utilize the touch screen to the Revolution. The controller is basically a stylus and the button is just to say "touch". I love all the games that use the touch screen and barely if at all the buttons on the DS.

I've played CTR and MK64. Yes MK64 is slightly slower, but that doesn't mean anything. You want speed, play F-Zero (29sec my battle time). CTR only entertained me for a few days with friends. MK64 we played everyday for months, (beatings for using lightning on the Wario track). Two different games but one appealed to the gamer friends (MK64), the other appealed to the non-gamer friends (CTR). Nothing wrong with that.

I swear that I posted a few stories that were of interest around my office (of those who read slashdot) but the story was rejected minutes after submitttion making me think that it wasn't even read by whomever rejected it.

Personally I think the latter. This little girl probably didn't play Halo, GTA, Manhunt, Splinter Cell or Metal Gear Solid. But probably watched some shooting and killing that's on broadcast TV. The parents probably didn't have parental controls on any of the channels and could have let her watch HBO or other movie channels.
