Nintendo games tell you to "take a break" in the games. So when are we going to blame Sony for elbowing my opponent and breaking a rib or nose when I sway left and right with the SIXAXIS?
True, but a computer game shouldn't be your only stress relief. Any physical activity, not necessarily competitive or team based, is an even better stress relief. The reason I say that is, if you have a stressed out day, then come home and start stressing in a game, maybe a better outlet would be an activity that requires minimal thinking (resulting most times in self-reflection) that expends the stress energy physically.
I was like you in HS, but now I work on computers all day, some days I stress relief by playing games at home, but I mix it up with working out. Keeps a healthy mind and body.
I liked rumble because you could turn down the sound when playing late at night with someone sleeping nearby and still have feedback about damage/clues/etc from the rumbling which won't wake your sleeper.
Another situation is sometimes I turn off or down the sound so I could play music, again rumble feedback is useful.
And yet one more when playing in crowd/party with other members how do you discern which of you receive damage from sound alone? You can't, that's what the rumble was for. You would see, hear and FEEL damage in multi-player games and you knew if you took damage. Without rumble you need to check your health or other visual cue if you took damage.
Seriously if you have to enter CAPS for alot of things then just hold down shift for 5 seconds, that will bring up the sticky shift key thing in windows XP, (which I think is more annoying than CAPS LOCK).
But I do use CAPS LOCK almost like a temp shift key press. I use it all the time when I'm programming as I name my class globals are in CAPS, just get used to it. What would you put in it's place? People just need to be banned/kicked/etc. for abuse of the CAPS. As I said before... I could just hold down shift and BAM! CAPS are back.
Or worse use a font that the lowercase set is just a dupe of the uppercase set.
And at the age of 18 and 21 something magical happens. Nope... nothing happens. The only difference is when you are 18 you are no longer a minor and are punishable to the full extent of the law. But again really at the age of 18 nothing happens in your mind. In Europe, you can drink alcohol at the age of 16.
The real thing here is that at these ages we expect that most people will be mature enough to be responsible about their usage of these 'items' but in reality some people should never use these things because they will never be mature enough to be responsible with it, be it alcohol, violent images (games or movies), or drugs/tobacco.
Often I stop a show and watch another, when I go back to the first show I skip to the point where I left off. They shouldn't force me to watch anything that I've seen already. And if they ever enforce people to watch commercials on something recorded, watch how fast I cancel my services and go back to seasons of shows on DVD. It's the only reason I have DVR is to watch shows at my time, and not to watch commercials.
You make a good point (don't know why you posted as AC). But Sony could convince eBay (with money) to ban the sale of PS3s on the site. That would only limit those willing to spend beyond the original price. If eBay did ban it, then people would just use Yahoo Auctions or some other auction site, so there really is no way to do it well. Nothing stops someone from making a webpage and advertising via google to sell it either.
Wish I had mod points to mod you up. It's exactly what I was thinking. I would put the passport in a shielding to prevent unwanted scanning of the RFID. Kinda like my EZ-pass for my car. It has a shielded bag I can put it in so that it can't be detected through a toll if I so choose.
And I wouldn't worry too much about being pinpointed as being an American from my RFID in my passport as much as the accent/appearance/ignorance-of-the-region-visited will show that you're American (this applies to most, not all).
Actually I just say any of these variations depending on how much they know of gaming and the mood I'm in: I'm going home to play some games. I'm going home to play some video games. I'm going home to play some [insert game name here]. ie(Super Mario) I'm going home to destroy things in a virtual realm beyond your comprehension.
I almost never mention the console unless I know for a fact they know about consoles, I might then say: I'm going home to play some Cube.
Most of the people I know, know nothing about consoles except the one they have.
Remember that electronics store called, The Wiz? What about from the Seinfeld episode with the Wiz King? Why didn't they make piss jokes about "The Wiz"? Because we grew up, and they weren't going to make obvious piss jokes, because we aren't 8 years old anymore.
I do have a manual transmission and I will say, this. If I had only my right hand to operate the vehicle, that's shifter and wheel, wouldn't you say turning and signaling would be difficult? Now back to automatic with same one hand scenario. Right hand, signal switch is on the left side of the steering wheel, harder to signal no? Turning, is still difficult and always best done with BOTH hands.
Now add in distraction of food/cellphone/etc. and you have the makings of LOSING CONTROL of the vehicle. That's the point. Most people when they get into these accidents don't even drop the cell phone to regain control of the vehicle. At least with hands-free you have control, but concentration is lacking (which isn't good either). I personally don't use the phone ever without ear piece unless I pull over, and then I don't use it with an ear piece unless on the highway in the far right (slow) lane in little traffic. Even then I limit my conversation to point of getting the info or giving the info and calling later when I have time to talk in a safer situation.
Exactly, look at Xbox360 launch. Pre-orders are probably 95% filled by now, almost spring. So if the PS3 is going worldwide launch it's only so you will keep your money in your pocket instead of buying an Xbox360. Think about all those people that would have got an Xbox360 NOW if they thought they weren't going to get a PS3 until Spring '07, now they have this slight slight chance of getting one before the end of this year. "Hope is a good breakfast, but it is a bad supper." -Francis Bacon.
The Nov worldwide launch is just a marketing ploy to keep you waiting and to prevent you from getting an xbox360. There is no way they can fill demand. Most people won't be getting a PS3 until Feb '07. It's the Xbox360 launch all over again with supplies, bundles, ebay.
Google Earth is way better than maps, but I'll admit that the driving algorithms aren't really that good. I think they should give a choice of what it thinks is the fastest and shortest and optimal routes.
I have been saving places in my google earth (which I love being able to do that) and finding routes to places pretty fast (and fly throughs!)
Dilbert complains to the PHB, "Just as I thought, my cubicle is two inches smaller today than yesterday!" PHB replies, "We installed real-time status adjusters in the cubicle walls. Sensors monitor your work and adjust the cubicle size according to your value." In frame three, co-workers sit in milk-crate sized cubicles as Wally says, "It's amazing how fast you get used to it."
I can't find the original comic, but I have it printed out and stuck up on my cubical wall.
Yeah I'll admit that out of my 21 games only 7 are available on other platforms. Not all were dev-ed by N, but some were only for the GC and dev-ed by others. The reason? The other games suck. I don't even play them anymore. Here is the list of games I have and I'm sure you can guess which ones sucked:
Pikmin Pikmin 2 Mario Golf Mario Party 4 Metroid Prime Super smash bros. melee Eternal Darkness Luigi's Mansion Starfox Adventures Sonic 2 (the shittiest game here) F-Zero GX NHL Hitz 2002 Prince of Persia Extreme G3 Racing Tetris Worlds Star Wars Rogue Leader Super Mario Sunshine (love this) Super Monkey Ball 2 Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2 DJ Vandetta Madden 2002
I'm not saying that learning something (like programming a calc program or computer program, or building a webpage) is bad. I encourage it. Back in HS I didn't write games for my calc, instead I wrote programs for solving complex problems in seconds rather than minutes to punch in the same computation by hand. When I finished exams in 10 minutes and scored perfectly, my teacher's didn't wonder why, because I never gave the program to others. They asked me if they could COPY it, and offered money (not much) and violence (idle threats), but I didn't because if everyone handed in their tests in 10 minutes then the teacher would think there is cheating. I said, go write your own. So was I cheating? I did LEARN how to simplify the problem to systematic steps that a program could return the right answer everytime. If they COPIED it, I think of that as cheating.
These kids on Myspace don't learn anything when they are just disrupting the classes and distracting the students that don't do well without distractions. And don't tell me they are learning about web design, their pages are horrible and all they did was COPY and PASTE from another page without even changing anything.
"Can someone tell me how to unblock myspace at my school?"
That's what so many kids are trying to do at school, I'm glad they blocked it, should be learning. I always laughed at the kids that played games on their TI-85 calcs but couldn't figure out how to graph a simple parabola.
The parent is correct. Though the other posters are correct also. You pay for Gold to play multiplayer games online. Well why should you have to pay more for MMORPGs if you have the Gold account? You are already paying to play multiplayer, but now you are classing MMORPGs in a different category from MMOs. For Silver pass you are correct though.
The problem is Gold pass cost X dollars, and the MMO costs Y, on a monthly basis. Consumers don't want to pay X + Y. Microsoft doesn't want to pay Y to the game co from the X you pay them, but let's suppose they did: If a consumer plays only the MMO mostly and can do without the Gold pass, then they will if X > Y, and Microsoft won't like that cause they lost X-Y.
The other business choice is require a Gold Pass to play the game. Well if Microsoft and game co can't agree on what % of the fees of players who have played the game to pay to the company, then that's out the window. Microsoft and the game co don't want to lose money on the deal.
The biggest problem is we are only talking about one game here... now imagine having to make this deal with every new MMORPG that comes out.
They are designing a new controller to be purchased with Halo 3 to combat the Nintendo Rev's controller. Think about it... if Microsoft releases Halo 3 bundled with a "gun" of some kind (so you don't use the current controller), would you really be buying a Nintendo Rev or more "gun" controllers to play with friends?
They can charge an exhorbitant amount for it so they can turn a profit quicker, because we know how crazy the even slightly Xbox fans will go bonkers over a "gun" for Halo 3.
Of course the gun will probably suck and make it to the number one spot of this list:P

Bad you! You shouldn't delete it, just mark it as SPAM! And help your Thunderbird learn what SPAM is changing to look like.
You forgot the Blu-ray movies! I can't wait to buy all my movies again in HD Blu-ray! NOT!

Nintendo most of the time in the past has done Console launch one year, Portable launch for a year or two, then console launch, etc.
