    I'm pretty happy with Mozilla 1.0; is there any reason I should bother putting 1.1, besides helping out in the never-ending search for bugs? I don't believe the only bug that annoys me has been fixed yet, anyone have any other compelling reason to upgrade?

    Store owners actually can't even do anything until the person actually leaves the store with the object or they can get in trouble. (They can't tackle them and what not to stop them, they could probably ask about the item stuffed under their shirt though.)

    I don't know about you, but I can read numbers about what a display can do all day or I can pick up the two and put them side by side and decide for myself which looks better to me. More colors doesn't mean easier to look at and read, it just means more colors.

    It's been that way for a long time, some games are great when you've got a good group of friends to play them with (FPS), and other games are great when you want to play alone (simulation). FPS games are less fun in single player or even LAN vs Online, whereas who wants to watch someone else play The Sims for 3 hours?

    It's just that most of the software most people use was built for the slower architecture. It's almost a catch-22. Software designers can't work outside hardware limitations and also have to cater to people who don't have top of the line PCs, and hardware manufacturers would have a hard time selling someone a computer that is twice as fast if they'll never notice for what they do with it.

    You also have to keep in mind there really isn't a prime directive yet. They haven't messed up enough planets to have a set of rules to tell them not to.

    I'm curious what illegal things they have done? They maintain a private network and can give access to it to whomever they please, and most certainly do not have to allow another private entity access to it. Exceptions are in the case of a warrant for one of their customers where the FBI needs the equiv of a wiretap or something, but those are limited cases. I can't demand that AOL give me access to their mail server if I am not one of their customers, and this ISP can deny any incoming traffic they wish as long as doing so does not violate their contract with their customers.

    Northeast Indiana is pretty well covered by these folks too. I wonder what other ISPs throughout the US have antennas on large towers to provide wireless access. It seems to be a pretty good alternative in rural areas like Ohio and Indiana, especially since it is so flat.

    bringing back 1 won't have too significant of an impact, but introducing a foreign species to an environment, or one that has been missing for quite some time, could seriously disrupt some things. We're gonna see more things like the crazy fish in lakes from Japan or something. Of course, I would only call it a "success" if 2 cloned mammoths were able to successfully mate.

    Some animals can walk immediately after birth as well (otherwise they would be doomed). I don't think birds can fly right away, so they may have to learn somethings before they can fly. Just like humans don't know how to walk before we are born.

    Or to put it another way, how do you slaughter a pig for meat when it's looking back at you saying "Please don't kill me!".

    They already do that, they just don't use English to say it. Animals sent to slaughter exhibit fear and anxiety, and they know what is going to happen. If you really want to see this, just follow a truck to the slaughterhouse next time and see how the animals behave when it's their turn.

    Isn't the problem with people who are born blind that they are missing some key things that would make that possible? I might be wrong about that. Of course, I wonder if sight is as important to someone who has never seen as it is to someone who used to be able to see and then lose their sight for one reason or another? Any blind /. readers care to share?

    Pretty much. I remember hearing in business law in high school that if someone sends you somethings in the mail that you did not ask for (and it was addressed to you.) It is considered a gift. They cannot subject to terms such as "you must now pay us $10 or return this." So, if they send you it, keep it, and ignore the license. It is a gift from them, and they are being very nice by letting you have it for free. =]

    I bet the local shop down the road from you would be more than happy to sell you a PC without a Windows license. Or you could just buy the parts or a kit online and build it yourself. Any monkey with a screwdriver and half a brain can assemble a computer. If you don't want to do the work, pay the extra few cents for the superior service and quality you will most likely get from the mom&pop shop down the road.

    Anyway, "human" is not a race, it is a species. From dictionary.com:

    1. A local geographic or global human population distinguished as a more or less distinct group by genetically transmitted physical characteristics.
    2. A group of people united or classified together on the basis of common history, nationality, or geographic distribution: the German race.

    Granted it also says it can refer to the human population as a whole, but race refers to differences within a species in most cases.
