Consult current, and if possible previous employees, at the university. I'm also not referring only to people in the same or similar departments. Go talk to a ground crew guy, a student aid who might have some insight into how things work around there, etc.
Go to the source instead of getting 100 replies on here that only tell you to build a beowulf cluster using old servers the engineering department dumped in a closet 5 years earlier.
This is also my going rate, and I find it to be both beneficial financially to my friends or family and as a way for me to strengthen bonds with these people.
As a network engineer for a large web hosting company, having worked for very large ISP's, etc all I can say is that I'm impressed. The 4 OC-12's alone coming out of NY sold me. =)

sofar i've tried ubuntu, gnoppix, knoppix, suse, morphix, knoppix, slax, elearnix, dynebolic, mepis, dsl, puppy, pc linuxos, gentoo (oh, and one or two of those bsd's as well).
The moment i find one that recognizes my onboard sound i'll take it, no matter which name it's got. Untill then i'm stuck on windoze for everything that involves sound (and i do like music).
uhhh, recompile the kernel and use whichever distro you choose.
Maybe these "lay" persons will start to read the product manuals shipping with the appliance that show you step by step how to implement security measures.
OH YEAH, nobody reads those things or even needs to...once it "works" thats all that matters.
The problem you run into with the misuse of guns or accidents is caused by people not being educated about guns. Based on my experience people who are brought up around firearms and know what they can and can't do are more likely to have a healthy respect for them than those who don't (not that there aren't exceptions).

A buddy of mine has been working for UPS for well over a year doing this exact same thing out of the Louisville, KY UPS hub. Not for Toshiba, but for HP, Dell and Gateway notebooks.
Exactly. He wasn't going to alert 3000+ users to only have them suddenly spike his bandwidth cost for the month through the roof. Even with or without 95th percentile billing.
Then there's stuff like ESPNHD. They usually just take the ESPN feed and stretch it to 16x9 which is really lame. They have maybe 4 or 5 events in actual HD per week.
Agreed. Completely rediculous in my opinion. It actually makes the standard def. picture look worse.
On a side note to all of those without an HDTV or without any true HD channels...just wait. Its a completely different TV experience. I cannot watch SD channels any longer. In fact I have completely dropped 90% of the standard channels from my cable package and would drop all of them if I could and only have HD channels. Even though it has cut my content and I have lost many channels I won't be adding the standard definition channels back ever.
