    There are artists out there are making a profit off music w/o the labels. The general public doesn't notice because they're too busy listening to the crap the labels do produce.

    By the way, it's been going on since before the glory days of the internet too.

    Exactly. That 10-20 billion just from revenue on taxes would go up from: Less need for policing, court expenses and imprisonment.

    Jails and prisons would be so much less crowded we wouldn't have to spend more money on MORE prison space.

    I understand theres alot more problems like distance and such but still.

    If Japan can be connected to the rest of the internet with multiple underwater cables, I see it as a lame excuse we can't connect our country to itself with cables on land.

    Name one other company that says they'll cough up money or take the blame when their post-beta, ready for consumption software goes tits up and loses data or creates for downtime?

    Most EULA's I've read say the maker cannot be held at fault. Even the GPL has an "As-Is" clause. So how exactly does this make Google less "manly"?

    My Comcast business account is only $5/mo more than my "home" service. And for 10 bucks on top of that I get 5 IPs. Sure only the upstream is a boost over my residential (384Kbps to 1Mbps) but I don't pay for satellite or cable TV, which is how I justified the extra cost.

    Although I note my torrent speeds are still poo (I'm trying to download Intrepid Ibex Alpha 6 and I'm gettin' 25-30K). I have Googled around and found nothing about if they're screwing with P2P on their biz accounts.

    In this case, the player is taking full advantage of a broken game with the possibility of trying to quash competition. I'm inclined to hate BOTH.

    This is even worse though. It's essentially telling DHS "SURE! Make up whatever Constitutionally violating rules you want! We'll write up some legislation for the rubes to feel good about and you can continue to hold a lighter to that tattered piece of paper."

    I have written my Congress critters about this in the past and received responses that were encouraging, but it's time to write again. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind. I'm probably on a watchlist somewhere, but that's fine by me.

    I played a demo they brought to PAX'08. The control mechanics were miles beyond Fable. Unfortunately there was only one level to run through on rails to the end fight. You could, however, pick from melee, ranged, or magic templates and hop right in.

    Can't tell you anythin' about the story, but I will say I am actually considering finally buying a X360 for this.

    I was bit by BioShock's DRM (didn't realize the extent of it until after my purchase.).

    Whenever a game is coming out that I'm interested in, if it's laden with such anti-consumer machinations, I intend to e-mail the publisher explaining that I would rather pirate it than pay them money thanks to their greed.

    Cheaper A/C alternatives? Do nothing. Let the room overheat and replace all the computing hardware. So what if you're down for a week?

    Instead of going through Lenovo, I filed a complaint with my state's AG office. I wasn't lookin' for a refund, rather physical media in case the hard drive were to fail and I could no longer use the "restore partition."

    Couple weeks after my complaint is filed, I get an e-mail from Lenovo asking for my model/serial number so they can send me a disk. BUT I bought an IdeaPad which they don't have disks for.

    I was like "What the? Party foul." and now they're letting me return the IdeaPad sans restock fee so I can purchase a Thinkpad.

    They roll out Tiny Adventures for Facebook (which is still having some issues it seems) then drop their social site. I wonder if this is part of a plan to focus on "apps" or ways of connecting to the already established bases of MySpace/Facebook?

    1) I'm sure more than a few D&D/P&P RPG fans are on those sites already.
    2) More visibility. Running your own site dedicated to just RPGs will only attract a certain crowd.

    Regarding #2, I'm slightly above "casual" P&P RPG follower, but I hadn't really even heard of their site until this /. posting.

    I have no problem with the fine, but the prison term is excessive. Again, no one was physically injured and he presents no physical threat to society as a whole. Plus now ye Average Taxpayer gets to foot the prison bill when the crime committed wasn't even against "us".

    Knocking someone else's product when you have problems of your own with your newer products.

    Or maybe I'm just bitter since I own a laptop with one of those chips and after a month seem to be having issues.

    I use to be a big nVidia guy, but those days are nearing their end.

    You're right it wouldn't END piracy, it would certainly reduce the scope of what is piracy.

    I've lost or had discs become damaged to no fault of my own. I have gone out and downloaded new copies, but under current terms, I'd be a pirate, despite having paid for the game (in many cases full retail price as opposed to waiting for it to be in the fiver bin.).

    You reduce the scope of piracy and then can focus better on the actual problem (people downloading something they haven't paid for.). Much of the time this crying about piracy is just a blanket term used to go after anyone downloading anything.

    Ditch perpetual copyrights. I say give corps 3-5 years to turn a profit and then it becomes public domain. For individuals a bit longer, but if you still can't make money, well, time to go back to plumber school I guess.

    What's next? We keep paying doctors every few years for prior services rendered? Or how about the contractor that built your house you continue to live in?

    It does have an anonymity cloak feat, but the speed check cameras and police officers have a very high bonus that is added to their spot roll.
