  1. An interesting irony on Human Trials Underway In China For SARS Vaccine · · Score: 4, Interesting

This is a CBC article about a Chinese vaccine for a disease that has killed relatively few people (statistically speaking).

Earlier today on CBC Radio One (Toronto 99.1) they were discussing the fact that it is illegal to import antiviral drugs into China for children with HIV. Even though there is not any Chinese manufacturer of such drugs.

Drug use must be rampant within the Chinese government beauracracy.

If your opponents generally can't afford to view your FUD before you present it with a paid shill arguing your opponents view point then your truth shall reign uncontestible...

Well that's just my take on the matter. But then again I thought the Maginot Line was a good idea (tactically speaking).

Leaving files on a public P2P directory is legal apparently.

"Making files available in online, shared directories is within the bounds of Canadian copyright law, von Finckenstein ruled."

"No evidence was presented that the alleged infringers either distributed or authorized the reproduction of sound recordings," von Finckenstein wrote in his 28-page ruling. "They merely placed personal copies into their shared directories which were accessible by other computer users via a P2P service."

What you can't do in Canada is download something and sell it.

The company I work for has a sales sharing plan paid out every two quarters. Of course one of these coincides with Christmas. A portion of the revenues are shared equally among all employees with over a year of service. Employees under a year of service get a half share (prorated for the first half year). Fortunately we are having one of our best years ever and the summer bonus was excellent. The X-mass bonus is predicted to be even better. In the past the bonus has been both below and above $1500.00 CDN. Therefore the amount suggested by the story poster is in my opinion quite respactable. I do suggest that in the future the poster should tie the bonus to the company's performance by a mathematical formula so that there is a definite motivational reason for the employees to put forth that little bit extra.
