An interesting 2-way fast-paced "party game". The first few times through this game will keep you on your toes as you try and figure out what to do in each mini game, but after you learn what to do on all the games it becomes simple recollection. If you own the game the multiplayer is nice, but with only 2 player capacity and limited replay value this isn't going to go to the top of many people's lists. Wireless Rating: 3 out of 5 bars
Weird, even without ZERO multiplayer options (a shame, really), it still manages to get "3 out of 5 bars"?
i don't know if the submitter did this on purpose (doesn't seem to be the case)...
But the "editor" didn't rtfa, the people commenting the story also didn't rtfa, and the moderators giving +1 insighful also obviously didn't rtfa, and probably also the people metamoding also didn't rtfa
On the other hand, skype is a pain in the ass if you want to block users in your corporate network to use it (bandwidth is still expensive where i live). If you block connections to the skype login servers, the client will then start trying to connect to random "supernodes", which are other clients connected to the internet and that accept inbound connections. It also uses ports 80 and 443 to disguise itself as http traffic, and it encrypts its traffic, so its nearly impossible to block it using proxy and firewall acls... msn messenger at least correctly identifies its tcp headers, so network admins can "choose" to either accept its traffic or not.
I am perfectly ok with john doe's review of . That's because sometimes that's the only way to find a "honest" opinion about.
The real problem here is with editors. Content like this (crapful review) should not be posted on/. Its your friggin job to read the links you post here.
This is all assuming that the editor did not read the article linked, because if he did read and still decided to post it, oh boy, this place needs a change in the staff.
while all the reasons above are valid, i think that the selling point is that skype is solely advertised as an "chat over the internet for free" app that just works. while these products you mentioned probably can do the same thing, they're still seen as instant messenger apps only...
actually, when cherryos was first announced, i remember that i saw a piece of news in a big portal site saying that their software would allow you to run mac osx on your intel pc. no mention about pearpc whatsoever. the "reporters" just read the announcement that cherryos made, and just replicated it on the main page. so you might get to see people buying their ripped of software, yes.
they didn't admitted anything. if this were a mozilla announcement, you wouldn't say that firefox 1.0 is "weak" just because they announced 2.0, would you?
1. why would a portable *need* video out? if youre sony. it makes sense to sell it as an accessory for some extra cash from those that want it
2. it has wifi. ppl are even tunneling this connection on the internet and playing it online.
3. its a sony device. why would they care to expend big bucks in RD to develop memory stick and then use CF? I agree that a standardized memory really should be adopted, but from their business pov it doesnt make sense.
The mac mini only has 1 memory slot. Since you have to replace the 256mb stick, it makes more sense to upgrade all the way up, instead of buying 512mb, then six months later replace it again for 1gb.
omg, we created this wireless power recharging for all your wireless devices! no wires attached! the catch? you have to plug your phone to a adapter that plugs itself to a recharger plugged in the damn wall.
When i heard about the mac mini, i wondered if it would be a nice gift for my g/f. well, it isnt, because she needs a good MS-Word replacement with support for portuguese. But MS does not translate the Office for Mac to portuguese, even though the windows version is translated since version 6.0
My opinion is that people would probably stop (or decrease dramatically) this giving birth thing on their own. Theres less incentive to leave your mark in the world, since, well, we no longer die and will be in the world forever...
I've just given a try on the software (i had installed it when 1.0 came out, but was unimpressed by then, i don't remember why). But i used it for like 30 minutes and its amazing. I always hated having to browse folders to look for pictures, and i don't have to do it anymore. I gave a quick glimpse on the effects panel, and the red eye remover is easy and very effective.
this is a really cool software. really.
ps. no, i don't work at picasa, google, or anywhere near US at all.
But if firefox allows malformed (or whatever) pages , like you say, wouldnt that lead to less stability in the application(as in browser crashing trying to render weird page and etc) instead of more?
Well, ymmv, but i converted more people to thunderbird than to firefox. Usually when I show people how the spam filter works, they wanna try it right away.
With thunderbird ive never listened to a "side effect", like weird page rendering. it just works. I know its not firefox fault, its webdevelopers that do stuff wrong, bla blah, but people just end up firing up IE if they do not miss the cool features in firefox.
i didn't bother to register to rtfa, but hopefully (naive, i know) someone will require to make these opt-in. I mean, my dsl provider where i live is very crappy (256kb down, 128kb up). Its bad enough to lag in games due to the game itself, imagine lagging because my pc/console/whatever is downloading ads?

dont get near those crap iomega usb thumb drives. Our ti manager thought they looked cool, and bought about a dozen of them. 3 months later, all of them were broken and were replaced by cheaper and better ones made by kingston.

If you want to provide feedback, (cause you are bitching, not giving feedback), go check out firefox's bugzilla, which is the right tree to bark at.
