Well, if you are going somewhere and want to take it with you, you scan the cards in the reader, and save it. Then you can turn it off, turn it on later, and load the save file from the ecard reader memory. You can play other games too, but those have to be scanned in, and if you save it, there goes Excitebike.
Not a great system, but it's 40 bucks. Besides, having a little box of scancards with my GBA holder just seems cool.
Bought an E-Card reader today for my GBA and Animal Crossing (GameCube Game).
The data itself is embedded in the card. It's a printed optical dot code. VERY TINY DOTS. I can't pick one out with my naked eye. I'm sure I could with a magnifying glass though.
I saw somewhere that a long strip (lengthwise) can hold up to 2.2KB of data, and a short strip (width) can hold 1.1. Each card can have only two strips. Presumably so the card can be handled.
Picked up a few ECard games, like Excitebike, Pinball, Etc. Games take 9-10 long strips. The game can the be saved in the reader, so you dont have to swipe again until you save another. Only space for one.
This is easy to use, holds a good amount of data, and has a LOT of possibilities. Kudos to Nintendo/Olympus!
Well, we won't get the game until October/November. There's a good chance that our version will not be compatible with the PC/Linux version. There's a real good chance that we won't even get the toolkit, and if we do, we still have this EULA hanging over our heads.
Look. I don't subscribe to everything/. says, but as far as rights issues, they are very in line with my own personal stance. Microsoft lawyers is a bit extreme, and I wouldn't say that myself, that's just worthless hyperbole.
I consider myself a Constitutional scholar. Not in formal education, but maybe in practice. I carry a copy of the Constitution with me in my car, and in my wallet. These are my unalienable rights as a citizen of this country. When I see other countries grossly abusing the power the populace has placed in them, I get upset yes, but it is up to that country to change it's ways.
But when I see my country doing no better, that's a shocking thing. And my country is doing no better.
I had these opinions long before/. showed up, and I will have them long after VA Linux sells out or goes under. This forum did nothing to shape me. If you feel you must lay blame, lay it on my parents and education, or even better, lay it on all of us for not standing up when we needed to to stop this kind of thing from happening.
It was a comment on the similarity of laws between Mugabe's regime in Zimbabwe, and our government and its laws. How two toally different systems of government can create the same draconian laws about things totally out of their control.
Grow up. If I have to explain my point to you, maybe Slashdot is not the place for you, ok?
I was gonna parent up, but I feel a comment would be more fitting.
We need people who have access to RoadRunner accounts to start making wild accusations about well-known, established, and notoriously litigious companies. After the first wave of defamation suits hits, they will reconsider the position.
By placing their name by defualt on every Usenet communication as the Organization, they are endorsing that comment to some degree.
Read the ruling as linked to below. He never even played anything, he watched a videotape supplied to him by the defendants of the four games mentioned, and ruled based on that. I question the legality of this.

They put a 200$ motherboard up for 21 bucks on monday.
Dual P3 with built in RAID.
I jumped on it, and got one. After I ordered, the price was put back up to 229.00. Luckily, the good people at Insight held up their end of it, and shipped the board. These people will be getting a LOT more business from me. This is the kind of customer service that really shows they value me, even when I get the better of them. Goodbye Best Buy, Hello Insight!
It is a good idea, and has been brought up on the boards over and over.
But.... people always manage to post the text of the article in the forum. Well, almost always, but close enough. Why would/. spend the dosh to do it when the users do it for free?
Now we are gonna start seeing people sending Sun and Apple resumes just to torture Microsoft. I'd be willing to work below minimum wage for that honor.
I send about a letter a month. Snail mail, as well as fax and email. I keep doing it, even as I see my rights slowly eroded away. I need to buy my own congressman.
Great. In one 24 hour period we have had stories on Universal's general screwing of it's customers, the network's reluctance to let us record shows in any shape or fashion, and now Kazaa shutting down pending litigation.
What a happy joyous world I live in. How in the FUCK did we get to this point?
Not at the moment. The good thing is, the EReader is upgradable. New cards, new games, new features.

I just used all my mod points. It worked.
I wish I could play an MP3 that would get rid of campers. Fuckin' Campers.
Some models made after October 2000 have trouble booting from standard CD's. They will only boot from GD-ROM. Check your system.

Zimbabwe prosecutes people outside of it's borders for breaking internal laws.
Sounds a lot like the US and the Skylarov case huh?
Or DeCSS? Or any of the forthcoming lawsuits?
We are no better. I hate to say it, but it's true.
May you live long, good sir, for putting that particular image back into my head. I had nearly forgotten the perkiness of that moment. Never again.
I believe you are thinking of CyberSled.
I used to work in a Namco arcade, and aside from Soul Edge, that was my favorite game in the place.
Your milage may vary.

Of course, IANAL, so YMMV.
Umm... ok....

April Fools jokes for nerds.
Stuff that will never happen.
Now we are gonna start seeing people sending Sun and Apple resumes just to torture Microsoft. I'd be willing to work below minimum wage for that honor.
One more scapegoat for bad parenting taken away.
Now lets work on the rest. All we have to do is wait for some money hungry family to start suing.
The corporate wars have begun. AOL just fired the first shot across the bow.
No good will come of this.

MOD THIS UP! WAY THE HELL UP!
I'm sending another email to them, you know we all have multiple Email addresses, requesting this as well.
