Didn't we already see this demonstrated in the Futurama episode where Fry eats the sandwich from the 20th century? I mean, those were worms, but they were tiny and seemed to be rewireing Fry okay. I know I could sure use some of them worms...
I believe if you check the sales statistics, there was never a moment when more PSP's were in the hands of consumers than DS's in America. I believe the margin was closest at about 500,000 units six months after PSP's release. But this is all coming out of memory. If anyone can confirm or deny, let me know. Most of the sites that would have the figures are blocked at work.
Just trying to tell you the PSP didn't 'Destroy' anything in the US. It mearly sold faster for the first few months. The DS has been dominating our US markets for quite some time. But who knows. Maybe some good games will come out for the PSP. The DS certainly had a drought for a good 8 months and it was still strong. There's a lot of PSP's out there right now, it still could potentially take the lead. Especially if it was opened up for homebrew (on purpose).
A bit off topic, but I fail to see why this article would appear under the Apple section. I suppose one could agrue that because it likely is a product made to go tete-a-tete with an Apple product, one might want it mentioned there. But shouldn't this be under Microsoft's section? Or handhelds?
I believe Super Smash Bros: Melee has a 'unlock' system that is similar to your wants. Asisde from playing the game a lot... In SSB:M you could unlock everything by doing all the challenges, beating the game in every way and all that stuff, but you could also unlock the new charecters and most of the extra levels just by logging time. Well, the game lets you do everything from the begining. Yes, new chars come later and they do take time to master, but it's a lot better knowing that you don't have to be an expert. Besides, you could get around the time limit very easily.
For instance, it takes 100 cumulative hours of gameplay to unlock charecter X. You simply plug in four controllers, set time on 'unlimited' and leave the game running all night. 25 hours (minus any time you actually play) later you've logged 100hours! The game is always fun, the new levels are just different platform configurations with some added eye candy, so you aren't missing much without them. You can easily live without the new chars as there's already a lot of variety (and some of them are just slight veriations, IE: Captian Falcon and Ganondorf).
Guess I'm trying to say that it shouldn't require 400 hours and the blood of one hundred virgin princess just to get last few extras. This is why I don't play Final Fantasy games anymore. After FFVII it just got ludicris trying to get everything! And VII was just as bad with Ruby and Emerald Weapon.
I guess a good extention to this would be to lynch those that buy anything from an infomercial. Of course, then my dad and his fiance would be out of the picture. So I'm going to opt for anyone who directly pays the guys should have both legs broken... repeatedly... until they stop paying companys to do this. And the people who write code to hijack homepages will suffer a bludgeon to the head for every computer that was bricked or even temporarily bricked because of the shit they wrote. That way they'll never be able to code again.
I've been doing shao lin kung fu for the last 2 and a half years now, almost three. We started out without pads. Controlled sparring, light contact. You gotta be fast, but you also need a lot of control to keep from knocking out teeth or breaking arms. The more advanced sashes (no belts) start wearing pads so we can kick the crap out of each other without worrying so much about concusions. Control first, then power.
I agree. Sony really doesn't seem to be thinking these days. I posted earlier that I thought racism was subsiding, and almost passed by this post, but you're right. It really has a lot to do with where you live. I just moved relatively close to one of the lower income areas of the Twin Cities. Sometimes I seriously feel like the kids are looking at me and thinking, "Why is there a white man here?"... nothing I can do but be myself. I don't hate anyone. I just get pissed off at individuals from time to time.
Sony could have used a similar ad campaing and even had "black vs. white" as a theme. Could have used the same models too. They could have been smiling and, oh, I don't know. Being competitive with the actual PSP. They could have even smiled. But we've all been learning lately that Sony doesn't have a whole lot of class.
Try watching Die Hard 3. Racism goes both ways. Black people can be racist to, as well as Mexicans, Asians... Hell, I've known people of German descent that absolutely HATED Austrians for what happened to their great grandfather. And he considered them a completely different race.
Most people these days aren't the same kind of racists you would find back in the day. Not a lot of cross-burners and the like. I still know a few people who are jumpy around black people or even driving into the cities. But that's just because they watch too many movies and were never really exposed.
The other thing is that certain "ethinic groups" as a whole tend to earn a reputation though the loudest members. Be that good or bad.
Well, you've got a few good points there. Except for the vendor lock-in format. What do you think WMA, WMV are? Think MS is going to let you use MP3's right on there? (I read TFA, I didn't see anything about it). And Apple learned from its mistakes, now you can use USB 2.0 or FireWire.
Proud owner of iPod Nano. But when it's time for replacement, I'll give this product a look-see.
Yeah, I played the game in the subject. Hated every second of it. I tried to play the 'stealthy' ship. It's the only one that appealed to me. I haven't played Eve. Can anyone give me a good comparison? Is it worth my time to try it?
The article you linked to says that by March 07 Nintendo plans on shipping 6 million Wii's. That's fine. But they also said they plan on having shipped 17 million games... That means not even three each. Guess we'll have to share or something.
You really need to RTFA. It answers almost every question you ask. Then you can read that particular editor's other stories, which will likely take care of the others. Or search Slashdot's archive of duped stories about the Wii's backwards capable systems.
My roommates and I bought the PS2 when it came out. We put our names into a hat at the end of the year and the winner was allowed to buy it at the current used price at the games shops split six ways (one part back to himself so he wasn't overpaying). I didn't have the money. That and I didn't care. Back then the PS2 still had mostly crap for games.

I agree. American Dad is pretty crappy. I may have gotten a few huh's out of it. Maybe even a laugh, but other than that it's complete rehash of the formula used in Family Guy gone wrong. Hell, even the pet fish has the hots for the semi-attractive matriarch (Brian and Lois). I remember reading an interview with Seth McFarlan talking about why he think the would succeed and all he talked about was which charecter on AD was equivilant to FG. When I read the inteview I thought, "Great! I hope this works out, I'll actually watch TV on Sunday nights."
After three episodes I just turned it off. I tried watching some of the later episodes, but they still aren't funny. It doesn't even have the Monte Python effect. You know, where it's kinda funny when you watch it the first time, but the second time, and every time you talk about it, it's frickin' hilarious! I tried watching a couple reruns... the show isn't worth the electricity to have it on in the background.
Family Guy still has it, American Dad is trash. I'd have modded you up, parent poster. You don't deserve Troll status.
I am of the opinion that Stephen King is a hack. And has, nor will he have ever, said anything best. Yes, he is undeniably successful. Yes, I have read many of his books. But his writing is utter trash when compared to, say, reading Dostoevsky's "Crime and Punishment".
Crime and Punishment delves into the psyce of the main charecter's descent into his personal Hell. Every step he takes he is more suspicous of his surroundings. Every conversation he has makes your heart pound. The best/worst part. It doesn't get monotonous. You spend well over half the book in constant fear and suspense.
When you were on that fiery staircase. Did you notice the painting on the wall? The one that popped out a bit. Didn't recoconize the significance, did you? All the Silent Hills have a bit 'raped' of their original content.
My brother has a good friend who imports all his games and is fluent in Japanese. One day, if you can call it fortunate, I was at the guys house while they were both talking about Silent Hill. He busted out number 2. He wanted us to see what was behind the shroud on the painting. From what I remember (it was painful to even look at, and I hadn't played the game for a year or so at the time), it was Angela's father. He had been pinned up there. Cut all over. Mostly around the legs and inner thighs. His genetals were an almost unrecognizable blur, but whoever did this piece of art took their time. It was more detailed than anything else I remebmer in the game.
From what I understand, it's Angela's psyche. She hated her father because she was sexually abused. And that was her Hell. It really is sad. That's what happens to a majority of people who were abused. They cannot find an outlet (the best being forgive and forget), and thereby hold it so close, in hatred, rage, and malice, that no matter how hard they try to forget and make it go away, they will never let go.
That's my horror. That the writers understood humanity that well.
I agree with that completely. Mario 3 was good. And I've spent long hours on that game, but I am of the opinion that the American Mario 2 was better. And Mario 64 is the pinnical of Mario. It was implemented almost perfectly. It literally felt like you were in Mario's world. I played 'Sunshine' and I understand the game, but never felt the drive to finish it. We'll see how Mario Galaxy or whatever it's called works out when we get it.
I'd love to get my hands on a platformer Mario RPG as well. It gets me excited just thinking about the possibilities.
Where'd the good ol' days go, where I could just sit on my ass for six straight hours and play something? *Sigh*
Just wait for college! You can trade each point of GPA for three hours of gaming time each week. The scale is exponential! To go from 4.0 to 3.0 grants college student 3 hours. But from 3.0 to 2.0 grants the student the same 3 hours, but also an additional 27 hours. And from 2.0 to 1.0 and below is about 81 hours. Basically because all week you're skipping every class just to play WoW and Counterstike.
He didn't want tape resedue on the top, and didn't want to scrape it with a razor. But the bottom he was somehow okay with. I suppose I might have mentioned that. HAHA
Also the paper would move around the table if you rested your palm on it and moved the mouse, most annoying. So that's why we used the heavy books.
I have a friend who invites people over for mini-LAN parties every few weeks. I assumed that I wouldn't need a mouspad the first time I went, but when I got there, we were all setting monitors, keybaords, and mice on a heavey glass table. Nobody brought any mousepads. I thought, "no problem, we can just tape some construction paper under the table." That didn't work. They glass was pretty thick and inconsistent. The pointer moved erraticly or not at all. Probably would have made some interesting art by just moving the mouse one direction.
We ended up using his wife's textbooks for mouspads.
One is that you pay for your MMORPG and you love it and play it because, in the words of my cousin and I, it's freer than going out and buying a game. We pay in advance because it's cheaper.
The second is that some people don't like subscriptions and would rather just play their games when they want, and move on. If they want, they can alway go back to their old games and pick it up where they left of for free. They own it.
The thrid is them fence-riders. Or people with a lot of money and time. They pay for one or mor MMORPG and they buy games all the time. Single people with well-paying jobs, usually. Most people are on one side of the fence or the other as either side can just pick up the game when they want. It's all about how we/you/I view our money.
Personally, I play Wow and buy about as many games as I normally would (which isn't many). I rarely own two games that I haven't beaten, and MMORPGs don't really count. Couple that with the fact that there haven't been any games coming out that interest me and I'm saving up for a good Wii launch line up... No cash...
I'm sure he only escalated the tantrum when they didn't want to help him. I've seen customers start off with the tantrum and be asked to leave and eventually thrown out by a phone call to the cops. Funny thing is, it was at a Verizon and Cingular store. Usually, if you stay calm on the phone, but remain assertive and unwavering, they'll take care of you. I've had many billing issues with both Verizon and Cingular that were both resolved with a good deal of phone work.
In college there was a kid who went around and stole about 8 credit card numbers, mine included. Then looked us up in the roster and started buying stuff. He used mine for an internet porn site that charged 60 bucks a month. I didn't notice it until three months later when my dad called to tell me that I got an overdraft fee notice in the mail. (quite pissed off, too). When I found out where my 180 bucks went, I called up the company and demanded my money back. They didn't want anything to do with that, saying that it was my responsability to keep track of my things. I calmly countered with, "Isn't it your responsability to properly validate ID's?" A few seconds of silence later and the lady gave me to her manager and I repeated myself when he said he couldn't help. I got my money back, plus 44 bucks for overdrafts. Then the bank refunded the overdrafts, so I came out ahead.

I'm sure the other guys do too, but Monster Lo Carb is my favorite.
Good God, this thread is going to get me fired. Thanks for the laughs!
