How about having the option to disable "paste" on middle click in Linux? Every time I close a tab by middle clicking on it, Moz thinks I just pasted into the location bar, damn annoying..
I would consider a Flash on/off preference more like the display images feature that some browsers have. Flash is not equivalant to Html, because it's a freaking plugin.
Macrodedia should at least give users the choice to run Flash content on a page.. not make them choose between watching every offensive Flash ad or uninstalling the plugin entirely.. I made my choice to be rid of Flash some time ago, and couldn't be happier.
And to the reply of "just filter it out!", would that work for the 85% of the population who are not as computer saavy as the typical/.er?
So you like how ASP.NET allows web pages to have an event model?
How do you feel about the IE-centric code the server generates? How about the fact that you have to go back to the server for practically everything, especially if the user has a non-IE browser?
Personally I prefer to have more granular control over the code that is generated, but I must admit that.NET allows more rapid development.
Sorry, but I have used Visual Studio.NET and in my humble opinion it is a steaming pile. Sure, there are some nice features to the.NET framework, but Visual Studio is a joke. A few examples:
The editor (poorly) reformats code, even when it's explicitly told not to.
Half of the internal help documents are MIA
Does not fully support the CSS and HTML standards, creates code for IE. (big suprise there)
The standard web forms only support client side scripting on IE.
These are only a few examples, I'm sure there are many more problems with Visual Studio. Again, it's not the framework I have a problem with, it's the editor and standard web forms.
Why is a new version necessary? Does it play movies better than Quicktime 5, or Quicktime 1 for that matter? It just seems to me like a video stream is a video stream and should not have to rely on a certain player in this day and age.. certaintly the player might have additional features, but shouldn't we have a standard "movie file" by now?
In other words, why isn't MPEG the industry standard for video playback?
Pretty stupid of people to filter @yahoo.com or @hotmail.com, sure you may see less spam but you will lose the legitimate email too.. better to reject mail on account of forged headers or the like.
I feel your pain brother. In fact the recent Flash ad abuse first led me to uninstall the evil plugin from IE, then to migrate to Mozilla entirely (which does not nag about missing plugins or warnings about activeX controls).
So, thanks are due to Macromedia and MS for pushing me to discover Moz!:)
One of the biggest areas where Opera seems to fail is with a lot of newly developed websites that didn't take Opera into consideration since IE seems to continue to dominate the browser market with authority.
Oh, obviously it's the browser's fault when it fails to render broken pages correctly. Sheesh!
Yes, just like MacDonald's is the worlds largest restraunt chain. At one time EA was a young, innovative company. These days they spare innovation for a more conservative approach.
Hard to believe this is the same publisher who once brought us titles like MULE, Archon, Legacy of the Ancients, Realm of Impossibility, Adventure Construction Set, Mail Order Monsters, ect.
Now all they have to offer is Baseball $YEAR, Football $YEAR, Nascar $YEAR, and crap like UO: The Second Rehash.
"But Mr. Dent, the Linux computers have been available in the local Dell retailer for the last nine months."
"Oh yes, well, as soon as I heard I went straight round to see them, yesterday afternoon. You hadn't exactly gone out of your way to call attention to them, had you? I mean, like actually telling anybody or anything."
"But the computers were on display..."
"On display? I eventually had to go down to the cellar to find them."
"That's the display department."
"With a flashlight."
"Ah, well, the lights had probably gone."
"So had the stairs."
"But look, you found the systems, didn't you?"
"Yes," said Arthur, "yes I did. They were on display in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying 'Beware of the Leopard.'"

I run Mozilla with "allow unrequested windows" turned off, and I don't have Flash. Bliss..
How about a Commodore 64 in a PC case?
This bug is still not fixed in 1.1b, however the fix appears to be on track for the next release.
Only if the client accepts cookies.. and usually, you don't want to trust the client anyway.
This could spell the end of lower insurance rates for women..
BankOne is now running .NET, for one. The .aspx extension gives it away. (note: this is not apparent until you log in)
Also, ASP.NET is incapable of maintaining state when using Post operations, thus everything is an ugly Get.

Even though .NET does not reach the performance of compiled languages, it does excel in some areas, for example memory allocation.

Well, they haven't had an update for awhile but I don't think I would call Lunix dead yet!

I want no part of Unicode. Give me ASCII or give me death!
eeh, EA is the worlds largest games publisher

On the version I have, it defaults to IE 5, when I have a problem I switch it to Netscape.
And here I thought that MSIE was taking over the web! It's just a lot of Opera users masking the user agent this whole time..

All props to the late great Douglas Adams.
FuzzyYou could do this by using your own style sheet. Mozilla and IE both have this feature.
FuzzyHear, Hear! Why is it possible for the Flash applet to disable the stop button? Right click on a Flash ad and all you get is, "About Flash..".
Methinks Macromedia has a vested interest in taking control away from the user.
