I wonder if the school could buy the stripped down (OS-less) Connectix Virtual PC for their Macs... and use the Microsoft Windows license through emulation. Just a thought and a way to at least somewhat compensate for the additional expenses.
My legal-sense is tingling!

Alright. I see two lawsuits here: #1) Class-action lawsuit against Best Buy for fraud and misleading the consumer. Compensatory damages for monies lost. Sounds fair. #2) False imprisonment! There seems to be grounds for a suit here. And there's of course, the whole racial bias thing going on. Which is 'orrible as is. I see damages for emotional distress. It'd be quickly settled with the right firm... maybe in the range of 200... considering its high profile.
"Mars must be green because we found what we THINK is chlorophyll!" *sigh* What ever happened to science. -- Note: I'm aware of all the flaws in my argument. Yes, I know that theories are constantly being disproven and that science has and always will be based upon assumptions. But please let me rant. It's all I have.
Most people have loathed the characters for years. Rather than be thrilled that they've been killed off, they're upset on how they found out. Just be happy they're gone! -- Sorry to those who actually liked them. But I believe I can speak for most of us when I say that I thought they kinda sucked.
[rant] I believe that I speak for all Star Wars fans... or make that even all humans... when I state that Jar Jar Binks must be destroyed. Alright, perhaps that was a tad harsh. But what is the value to the character -- he is racially offensive, disrupts all possible dark and intelligent tones to the movie and, lest I forget to mention, quite possibly the most annoying character not portrayed by Pauly Shore or Carrot Top ever witnessed in a movie. Now, this is just my personal opinion. But Mr. Lucas, with all due respect, what on earth were you smoking? And one more thing! Didn't they learn their lesson from the Ewoks? Jar Jar = the Ewoks to the nth degree. [/rant]
It's not really that the effect of gravity is reduced... rather, that the effects are transferred to the outside of the closed environment. Remember... Newton's law of conservation. 'das all.
FOX News and Disney are unified in support. They're at opposite sides of the political spectrum (Rupert Murdoch's "empire" -- including FOX, the NY Post and others -- is conservative and Disney is much more liberal). It seems that they are banding together for the purpose of world domination... or something like that.
Well, I really dislike Scie-- OW! OW! L. Ron is in the house! Please don't twist my arm so ha-- YAH!!!...I like Scientology. Just don't hurt me anymo-- WAH!!!!
If there is a shortage... the unused lines will be used due to their value. Waste is lessened with necessity. There isn't going to be a TRUE shortage... rather just a perceived one from quasi-waste. These lines will be used when it becomes a necessity. Remember... supply and demand are closely intertwined.
Although such things can work in a small nation... one really wonders whether or not such findings can translate to the larger scale of the United States. Interesting, nevertheless.
MP3 (and Ogg Vorbis, etc.) technology. I mean, mathematical non-lossless compression technology... different algorithm, same purpose. (Side note: It seems ironic that as storage space grows, this becomes less and less necessary.) In any case, it seems to indicate a trend: the ability to get the maximum from a minimal amount of data.
Now, I don't mean to be a troll or anything... but such an obvious typo is infuriating. Whatever happened to the high quality of reporting/editing of Slashdot? "O'Reily" is an unforgivable error... you guys have to pay attention and proofread before you post; this would be unacceptable in any other major news source, internet or not.
(start sarcasm here) Publicly undermining the integrity of our great nation while at war with a nation, which, according to many accounts, recieved funding from China. Gee. Why would we bug China? (end sarcasm here) They're funding terrorist groups. The Post can't help itself. This type of expose thrives on diminishing the appearance of government, but in fact, such tactics are necessary to the welfare of our nation.
Their American following has never been that great? I mean, humour is humour, and it's just a shame that "Gumby" and "Davey and Goliath" are the only true claymation options that they have...
It's been around since the late 1980's. This is nothing new.
Let's not get ahead of ourselves, sonny.
To hate the French. :-)
Sorry. That was rude and mean... but honestly... even the FRENCH hate the French.

Tell me that this is an April Fools joke.

Cliff's been doing it for years. This is good stuff, my friends... and you get to fulfill your Linux and individuality dreams. What could be cooler?

When a Communist nation allows scientists greater freedom than a Democracy? Just saying...
I heard that Alex Chiu is working on this! Supposedly the tabletop fusion powers his now electromagnetically charged rings! Even MORE immortality! ;-)
In the process, they'll add twice as many new bugs AND charge you for the upgrade.
It'll be "Indiana Jones defers the spotlight to a Wacky Gungan named Jar-Jar."
