I had recently bought a new disk and put Gentoo on it, swapping out Windows to hdb and... well, now I have dual-boot. It even worked on the first try:)
To state the obvious -- no, it's harder on the poor because they're NOT charged different sales tax rates. A 15% tax on someone trying to live on $15K/year will cut into the basics -- food, minimal shelter, health care.
Who said you had to tax all products equally. In France there is, as of 2001, three tax rates:
a 'normal' rate of 19.8%
a 'reduced' rate of 5.5% (water, electricty, most foodstuffs, drugs, books, museum admission, lawyer fees...)
a 'super-reduced' rate of 2.1% (newspapers & magazines, drugs,...)
You can thus leave a low tax rate on basic necessities and slap a large tax on luxury products.
Sure it's annoying but it sounds like a good strategy to me.... Hell maybe Kerry oughta send out "VOTE BUSH" E-mails. Sure would get people riled up at Bush
Also think how much good it would do for Bush's image the world over. If you think he (and the US, by association) has it bad right now, just wait until we all start to believe he (and again, by association, all of you) condones spam...
More seriously, in your opinion, what is the likelihood that they'll restrict their recipient list to registered US voters? Did they ask for your email when you signed up?
Meanwhile Microsoft is stuck spending mega-bucks and lots of time trying to protect themselves from having anyone actually...gasp...see the source code. Horrors!
Have you considered that the masses should actually be protected from Microsoft's source code ? You wouldn't want your neighbours to become stark raving lunatics after having been confronted with the lovecraftian abomination that is Hungarian Notation, would you ?
Trust me my friend, there exist Code Man Was Not Mean to Read. Microsoft is dutifully protecting reality as we know it. We should be thankful.
f I was playing SWG, I'd try to organise some sort of resistance - get a group together using regular characters to gang up against any Jedi characters and set a precident where people don't *want* to be Jedi or nobody will help them and they'll get repeatedly mobbed in PvP combat.
Unless I misread it, I believe characters created in the "force-sensitive slot" suffer from permanent death, though the slot itself is reusable. You might even be able to attack them if they flaunt their Jedi-ness.
If this is connected to a set of satalites and beamed down very loud music or just a shrill note, somebody could become very powerful, very fast.
No air, no sound.
Fatal Flaws - Not quite.

Since smart cards in France all incorporate a chip, their magnetic strips are rarely used. Thus, even if the strip id demagnetised, so long as the chip is OK, the card is OK too.
And hopefully, it takes more work to mess a chip up than a magnetic strip.
Now all we have to do is find the school with the course on "Warner Brothers Animation Physics..."

Of course, now I have to patch it...
Again, my thanks.
I saw the story title and believed for a moment that somebody was anouncing an alien invasion.
... it's all the same to me.
Lyrids, Triffids
I believe so. Try replacing the cl.exe from VS 7.1 Standard with the one included in the toolkit. Make a backup, just in case.
IIRC, .a stands for 'archive'.

Read the article, he did address that game.
Gone are the times when you would be replied "we don't support linux" - they guaranteed it.
Jello? Think? You're talking about a quivering blob, not about a sentient being ...
One more reason to have the government tightly control what books you check out.
Libraries are a breeding ground for terrorists, I tell you.
That's the journalist.

That should help keep the numbers down :)
Maybe, just maybe, this technique can be used to improve spam filtering.
Straight from the article.
"[Orange] will now allow these to run beta code on Orange SPVs without it being signed first."
"However, Orange still requires developers to undergo the code signing process to be able to sell finished applications to Orange SPV owners"

I believe I have a quick solution to the last problem. If you call now with your credit card, you get free painkillers.
Why do I have the feeling that this decade is going to be known as the "Mine! Mine!" decade.
Well, it is the naughties.
