As far as I can tell, SOX only causes pain and suffering to IT and accounting departments, and does not actually prevent executives from doing anything wrong. (IMHO as a low-level network flunky as part of a publicy-traded company)
I live in eastern Wisconsin and we have a chain of gas stations here called "Kwik Trip". They have a 'house-brand' called Urge that has soda, pizza, and chip products.
I agree. Let's also dump the police department, public libraries, the Interstate highway system, NASA, the military, FBI, CIA, and the fire department.
I completely agree. The US DOJ won't do anything about it, the politicians (on both sides) won't do anything about, nor will any other federal agencies. Dubya, Rove, Chency and their henchmen is going to get off scot-free AGAIN. Where the hell are the 2005 Woodward and Bernstein?
Perhaps you meant to say that administrators who have Novell solutions in place don't have anything to do? My company has NetWare servers for file/print/auth/e-mail/Internet proxy/etc. in place. Our servers have uptimes in the 100's of days (our best record was 438 days until the mobo died) and require almost no upkeep. Not to mention that I don't have to worry too much about nasty viruses coming in. Oh, and our NetWare servers have a bash prompt that I can use, as well as running several OSS programs (Apache, PHP, MySQL).
The company I work for bought a small company in a small town in Oklahoma. We set them up on our Frame Relay network and then began investigating a DSL connection for their location. We discovered that a DSL line runs right in front of their business. I called to if an installation was possible, but the people at SBC informed me it's not. The county they're located in hasn't been part of 911 'zoning' yet and doesn't have a street address per-se, so that can't run the DSL line their. This means that if there is an emergency, they can't dial 911 on their phone.
Is it just me or has Gmail been down for a while today? Or maybe there was a fiber cut somewhere? :)
I don't know, I didn't go into Burger King.
Two words: Halo 3

How do you feel about interviewees who take notes during the interview?

Think again!
I still have the 45 that McDonalds sent out 20 years(?) or so ago in Sunday newspapers that had a song on it. It went something like this:
Big Mac, McDLT, a Quarter-Pounder with some cheese, a hamburger, a cheeseburger, a Happy Meal....
I think it was part of a contest or something.
Oh, the humanity!
It looks like the military gets better frame rates running Doom 3 under Linux also. :)
I fit numbers 1 and 3, am I a psychopath too?
Wouldn't they get Nullsoft as well? So it could be bye-bye WinAmp if Microsoft wins, or the Google Media Player if Google wins....
What else does AOL own?
They will when you leave their store with that brand-spanking new copy of Windows Vista in 2007.

Which creates more lawyer and more prisons, which needs more gov't dollars...I think I'm starting to get it!
Nope. Wikipedia link.
This should say: It is the nature of white humans to explore, conquer, and colonize.
Yes.

Crazy.
Well, I for one welcome our new... Hey wait, that actually might be an appropriate response!!!!
It is if you want your IM app to be used in a corporate enviroment by customers paying for support.
Yes. I've got two SATA's and the installed detected them nicely. The only hardware problems I have are with my wireless card and monitor.
I must commend Ubuntu for making Samba a snap to get up and running using their GUI. Same with printers and disk drives, it's all done via a 'Wizard'.
