While I agree with your comment in general I don't agree that the "Corn" sign isn't manipulative. The manipulation is there, just very subtle and in a way that we have grown used to.

I believe that the "Corn" sign is manipulative because once you read the sign your thoughts are different than if you hadn't read the sign at all. As a result of reading it you may recall some memories of corn. Maybe the sign makes you check your current hunger status or if you have something planned for dinner tonight. To me that is a sign of manipulation. It's subtle and to me it is much more agreeable, but still manipulative.

Maybe think about it this way. If the seller didn't want to change/manipulate your thoughts then why put up the sign at all?

In other news you have a new friend. I look forward to reading more of your comments.

This is the perfect charity for me and I love the feeling every time that I turn on my xbox that there is some kid/family/whatever not too far from where I live who can enjoy a fun game for a while and forget about whatever pain they are in.

Looking at the first 11 comments I see every argument that I would want to make, but since I am drunk I figure that I should state my case anyway.

The game was OK. It was more of a memorize/pattern match sequence than it was a true game.

There was humor. I know I laughed when I saw a few of my death sequences, but beyond that I don't think it brought much to the table in terms of "gameplay".

I liked it but I liked it for what it was. I don't claim that it was halflife. DL is so far from half life that a comparison is weak at best.

You know what. In reading the article I think that the author is full of crap. What was written was nothing more than a fanatic trying to bolster more support for the game and or himself. I guess the job was well done because I am another person that clicked on a link.

In summary: game ok for what it was; article lacked weight and read like a "look at me" type rant. Dont forget to notice the paypal link.

  8. I call Bull Shit on Creativity, a Problem for the Gaming Industry? · · Score: 1

I can see how many would think of sequils as a rip off of the previous titles but the ones cited in the article will be successful because they will be well developed games. Think about all those "first run" titles. Each of these games were good to great because they gave you a little more than the the status quo. Their developers understand what it takes to bring a solid sequil to market and I think that each of these next titles would have been great even if they weren't follow ups.

Now a game like the sims and their expansion packs is a totally different situation. To me an expansion pack is NOT a sequil. It just gives the user an expanded universe/options of things to do within the already created gamespace. There is nothing ground breaking or fabulously new in an expansion pack and I don't think they should be compared at all. Maybe I just don't understand right now how they compare with regards to the profits generated.... All I know that I am more willing to spend 40 dollars on an entirely new game (new engine, story focus, paradgim change...) than I am to spend 25 dollars on an expansion pack.

In all truth I do love well made expansion packs. I've played many a RTS where the expansion pack tweaked the game just right so I could really have fun playing it. That said, I don't want to see expansion packs be just the features that were cut before shipping the main title.

Wow. Thats way to much for what I wanted to say. I guess Im just drunk...

The first generation of games for any console pretty much suck HARD. Half of them are extremely cut back on gameplay and merely a technology demo/gear up for the development house. People made such a big fuss about Halo because it was good from the get go.

I could go on and on about what I like and dislike between XB and PS2, but I really think that the XB will have much cooler games a year from now. The PS2 is basically at its full potential for what it can do and the XB is really just comming into itself.

I think a much truer comparison would be a timeline that shows quantity and quality of games from each of their release dates.
