The thing I can't quite understand is how console online games will replace computer online games without having some method of patching the software.
Starcraft went through 9 balance patches over 5 years before they (arguably) got the balance right.
You can probably expect them to get the stability right the first time, but for really great games that have a long lifespan, how can you fix balance issues?
