Funny, she let me in on the UNmetered access plan...but I didn't get three-way service, so if you hear the *beep-beep-beep* you'll just have to wait your turn.
Well, in some cases, it can, by increasing the amount of fuel mix/exhaust that can be pushed through the cylinders. Given head design limitations and the need for distinct intake and exhaust valving, more smaller-diameter valves can be beneficial to throttle response, torque peaks and max RPM.

...using GPS to pinpoint landmarks like the white house.
Isn't the whole point of a landmark that it doesn't move? I'm sure at some point SOMEONE was able to figure out a Good Enough targeting location for various key targets? What good would Selective Availability do against an inertial system fed these co-ords?
I had forgotten that one! That one *almost* makes up for the other ones. Seriously, I really like that one. I guess that's why I forgot its asocciation with the 1 Degree campaign...
I don't know about you guys, but M$'s ads for their own stuff are pretty revolting. Case in point - the new "1 Degree" ads. The sportscar one is particularly egregious.
If you haven't seen it, a couple is in a showroom about to buy a Ferrari lookalike. The saleman asks for a color and after selecting red, the scene changes to a paintshop where supposedly JIT robots begin to paint a primered car red.
That's when a brief moment of hesitation kicks in and black is suggested. Dealer "pauses" the painting and then lucky for him the couple goes back to red and the bot finishes painting. The voiceover says something like, "Giving the customer exactly what they want - 1 degree of separation".
Now please pardon my incredulity, but WTF would have happened if the couple did, in fact, go for black? You can't just repaint a wet car, especially one only partly painted.
The wineseller one is also annoying, but more in the way the previous ads about MS server stability were annoying.

You have obviously never watched TLC's Trading Spaces. Qhick precis: Host and two designers assist two couples in decorating each other's houses for less than a grand apiece.
More often than not, the resulting room is an abomination that only a colorblind wombat would like.
My award for worst that I've seen - cool downstairs den done in natural wood and various "guy" accents converted to lime green, red and black. They pained the dude's coffee table CHECKERBOARD.
I'm surprised this show doesn't result in more fatalities...

What kills me is that most of Disney's lucre comes from - are you ready? - public domain works converted to their end and then copyright-protected until the heat-death of the universe.
Why should they get to adapt fairy tales from long ago and then seek to stop thers from doing the same?
Oh well, Disney parks suck anyway - Uni's Islands of Adventure 0wNz!

Yeah, but with over 10 million PS2 already in end-users'hands in the three major territories, there's a huge number of ready-to-go code monkeys.
Anyone really into Linux probably doesn't need this. Anyone really into games prolly has the PS2 or wouldn't mind one. Get a union of about.1 percent and you've got 10k users ponying up 2 c-notes apiece.
I was going to preorder mine, despite not knowing jack about C porgramming, but I bought a Japanese PS2 to go with my North American one. But hopefully the kits won't sell out and I'll still be able to get one ordered before May...
I'm pretty much the solo coder here and I'm in a 7' by 9' cube with high walls. It's not so bad, but I would prefer an office with a closable door for those times when focus is really necessary.
That said, of the 14 offices we have here, 8 are held by people lower in seniority than me. On more than one occasion we've had multiple relocations and I was promised one, then denied. With my current cube, it's not so bad, but the one I got before this one made me angry.
Oh well!

Our cat Tony tries very hard to open our front door. We have the kind of lock with the push-down thumb lever. Every so often, usually in the dead of night, Tony will jump up to the lock and paw at the lever. This goes on for 5-10 minutes at a time.
He's not yet figured out that he has to somehow push the door forward (and it's pretty stiff in the frame so it takes a bit of effort anyway) but one day, his timing is going to be perfect (and the door unlocked) and he'll come barreling into the house on his own.
Then all will be lost because he'll share his knowledge and our privacy and security will forever be in danger!
It's funny you should say that... When I got GT1 there was talk GT2 was going to support the Link Cable. I wrote a couple of gaming gurus about whether or not the second PSX could be used to handle a few extra cars but no human, bringing the 1-player opponent count up.
I never got an answer, but I never heard any solid argument against that idea. I was hoping GT3, with its link capabilities (6-player or 6-monitor solo games) would make this dream a reality, but alas!
GTRacer
- Now if I could just get my Japanese PS2 to link with the U.S. one...
Then *MAYBE* people will start taking fooking responsibility for their actions and not assume they can do as they please just because nobody saw them.
For example (and I'm being nit-picky here) people who throw junk out their car window. Stop-sign and red-light runners. Shoplifters. None of these are "crimes of the century" but they point to a general lack of ethics or a careless attitude re: civilised society.
Last night, I was outside feeding my cats when a car exited a cul-de-sac near my house. As it passed, I heard something hit the ground and then a splash. This asshole pitched his beer cup out onto the street and just about landed it in my yard. I'm forever picking up crap like that when I go to mow my yard.
I know things happen accidentally but I've been with people who really just don't care or feel somehow entitled to have it their way regardless of the effects on others.
I don't want to live in fear of random midnight searches or "disappeared" friends, but damn, if it took CCTV cams and ID checkpoints to get people to start cooperating, I might go for it.
Of course, we all know this would be a slippery slope and we'd lose everything...What cost civilisation?
