First it gets crazy free publicity for being banned in the UK. Then it gets crazy free publicity for getting an AO rating in the US. Then they say it'll be delayed because they're working on saving their 'artistic vision' or whatever. Then they say oh wait we'll edit it and release it with a M rating. Now that the hype has died oh look the AO version for PS2 magically leaked out. Someone get me my tinfoil hat but it seems like whenever the controversy dies down something else magically happens to get it back up again. It sure is convenient.
I thought DDR was about getting up, moving and maybe getting some exercise and not sit around watching TV. So by making a TV show about getting up and moving isn't that somewhat counterproductive to DDR's intent? I mean I know it's only 1 30 minute show and they're probably watching TV anyway but still it's like those informericials (which is what I'm expecting this to be) for exercise equipment I mean if you're up at 2 AM watching it I really really doubt that $250 ab sharpener, butt tightener and tanner in 1 is going to help.
If all you want to play is Homebrew then you could just buy the Gameboy Advance Movie Player and then get the Firmware Hack and then if you don't mind opening up your DS and flashing the firmware you can play homebrew on the GBA Movie Player without a passme (plus it gets rid of that annoying as fuck touch to being screen at the beginning). Total cost? $25 + shipping + CF card which a 32 MB Generic card (I mean you don't need a sansdisc for this right?) can be found at PriceWatch for $11 shipped. So for under $40 you can do homebrew on DS and for comparison the smallest Memory Stick Pro Duo I could find is a 64MB one that costs $13 shipped. Also the GBA MP can play movies and MP3s as well.
It seems to me everyone is bitching and moaning about having to buy an Xbox 360 at $400 and a PS3 at god knows how much (I'd get my bank's loan department on speed dial) so instead why not buy Revolution? Yes I'm suggesting you forgo getting the latest and greatest from Sony & MS and yes you probably won't be able to play GTA on it and you won't be able to play Halo on it but look at what it's got. First off it'll probably retail at $200 so that puts it at a $100-200 advantage against Xbox and god knows how much against PS3. Secondly it'll support real backwards compatibility, it'll play Gamecube games and if you're willing to pay a little bit of money it'll also play your favorite NES, SNES & N64 games. There are plenty of good Gamecube games that aren't full of violence and blood that are actually fun! (yes you can have games that are fun without blood it's a shock to the system I know you'd better take a lay down and come back later I'll wait) Better? Let's just look at launch day for Xbox 360 & Gamecube. So on Xbox 360 launch day after you pay your $400 + $50 game (we'll assume they're not $60 yet) + tax you're at ~$480 (I used my sales tax of 6.5%). Now lets look at revolution launch day. You pay your $200 + $50 for a game + tax and you get ~$267 so you have about $213 left after buying revolution which you could use to buy a spare controller, more games (new Zelda anyone?) or just old games through the online game service. Now I really doubt I'll sway anyone with this but I mean just look at the numbers guys why not save your $400 now buy a Revolution and then wait for the eventual price drops that you know will happen by Christmas '06 or at worst May '07 Yes you might miss out on the latest GTA but by the time you do buy it it'll be $20.
Rockstar has decided to take the politicians way out of this by lieing and denying everything, which rarely works. They should have simply said it was true and then have the ESRB change the games rating to AO and send stores new stickers to place on the box noting the new AO rating. Then do a new run of the game with the minigame ENABLED yes even put it on the box that it's available. Then do another run if want of the game witht he minigame completely ripped out and have that rated M and everyone is happy. This would require them to spend money though and admit a mistake had been made.
Well if you want them to not ship now patch later you can do what Microsoft did to stop it. You can only push out patches via Xbox Live! if they fix online play period. If the game is somehow defective then it sucks to be you. Although that's a benefit of Microsoft controlling the online experience if Sony keeps their current stature of letting the companies do what they want then they can't really stop them.
Also just to add a fun second reply, if you meant Gameboy then again they could have designed an emulator I think the only games they ported was Mario Advance series games which have sold quite well.
If by port you mean designing an emulator so then all the games work and that they've already made a NES and N64 emulator for gamecube so they could probably use it on Revolution. Then yes that sure is a lot of work porting. I mean designing a SNES emulator for Revolution in less than what? 11 months? sure will be a challenge. Infact I imagine they'll delay the next Zelda because all the Nintendo programmers will be busy designing SUCH a complicated emulator or they'll steal ZSNES's code.
Actually Majesco released a device that uses wireless and can be put on the gamelink port so if you and your friend both have one then you can do wireless on any gamelink game. Although I haven't used it so I can't attest to the quality.
If it was sent Air Mail I doubt it would cost more than $15 and seeing how some of these asshats on ebay are charging that INSIDE THE US! It might be cheaper.
The Wireless services are being stupid on this. They could just add a 'iTunes Phone Access Fee' that's $5.00 to everyone who gets the phone. Then no matter how many songs they add they get their $5.00 and I think that if meant you got the phone for free most people who read the terms after they sign wouldn't care or would just want the shiny new phone.
It seems to me that this will either result in people not upgrading or Adaptec will just release a binary driver (if one doesn't already exist) and people will upgrade if they want to. So this makes for a nice press release but I think that the implications aren't as great as they sound.
ith Microsoft facing the most tough scenario (going from a pentium/nvidia architecture to a powerPC/ati one)
Why does everyone think this is going to be so hard? Why bother emulating it when you could simply license from Intel a mobileP3 that's the same speed as the xbox processor and then when you make the Xbox 2 OS/kernel a compatibility mode. Since ideally the GPU of the xbox was made to MS specs they can give the info to ATI and have them build in compatibility into the new Xbox 2 GPU. Tada Xbox 2 is backwards compatible with a few minor code tweaks and hardware adjustments. It won't make the system that much larger at all.
Usually companies do not own Dev kits instead they're leased out to them from the console makers so I imagine as soon as they died everyone demanded they return them. (Whether or not they were returned is a different story but that's how it SHOULD have happened)
Now before everyone goes OMG THIS ISN'T A HL2 TOPIC (OFFTOPIC#!%!) if a small developer bought Civ and they do not have a publisher they should seriously contact Valve about publishing it through steam. They could run ads in major game magazines and on websites plus Valve would probably advertise it on steampowered.com since it seems to me the average person who would play Civilization is old enough to have a credit card (or the ability to setup a paypal account and use the virtual debit bar) and would be knowledgeable enough to download steam and purchase it through there if a guide was provided (if they really felt it was necessary). Although this is assuming it's a small developer and not one with connections to some conglomerate like EA or VU.
Who said they couldn't include an x86 processor? Everyone seems to assume that since they'll have a G5 that they aren't allowed to throw in a second x86 processor to allow backwards compatibility?
And the next person that says (the word is says, saids is not a word nor has it ever been one) PSP is limited to a 128MB flashcard has no idea what Sony's up to.
Oh but ye who posts on slashdot games who is obviously trolling in a Nintendo story knows everything Sony is going to do, right?
What about all those DJs that mix different songs together and call it their own original creation? Would they be liable in the same way?
I guess you haven't been paying attention reciently! A federal judge in cincinnati ruled that sampling (which is what you are refering to) is illegal and violates copyright law

Has anyone else noticed that this person keeps going around saying how great Phantom will be? It's like instead of paying money for real Marketing they've hired some guy to go around trolling on websites saying how great it is. It's cheap and easy.

I know about those utility discs, but why hasn't Datel yet published any unlicensed games?
They have in England!

Also Jaguar wasn't 64-bit it was 2 32-bit processors. The first real 64-bit console was N64.
Yeah but Microsoft is the one who gave it the final OK. So they're as much to blame as the others although I do see your point.
I think it's more like Microsoft did a piss poor job on QA testing with the AC Jacks and now they're living to regret it.
If it was sent Air Mail I doubt it would cost more than $15 and seeing how some of these asshats on ebay are charging that INSIDE THE US! It might be cheaper.

Actually the Action Replay for Xbox is just a glorified save manager program the only real cheating that can be done is with the Evo-X Trainer engine.

If the DS's battery is anything like the GBA SP's battery, you can't remove it.
You can remove the SP's battery it's got a small screw holding it in. So anyhow you failed slashdot go to your room!
