    From the EULA:

I've been waiting for Blizz to implement their promised honor/dishonor system so that ?? people would leave me alone, now it seems that I will "be farmed like mobs" because of the bonuses that ganking me now gives to people.

I can even see the higher level players power-honoring some medium characters since there is absolutely no PvP dishonor system; only one that loosely prevents ganking of NPCs.

I've been playing WoW since a week after launch and chose a PvP server because friends were here and I like the concept of PvP. Unfortunately, since "Battlegrounds" will be implemented on PvE servers as well as PvP, they may just rename PvP servers to Ganking.

This change as written will make the game unplayable for the majority and could result in a serious number of account cancellations.

I know I'lll be gone once some 44 rogue waits in the shadows until I've pulled several elite mobs and then stunlocks me to death for an "honorable" kill.

TiVo's main app that does all the recording, sceduling, playback, etc is called MyWorld and it is closed source. Even if it wasn't, I don't think that they would be encumbered by the GPL, they would just have to release the source. How is this encumbering?

The TiVo already runs a *nix kernel on a PPC core and uses HFS formatted drives. I could easily see MyWorld running on a Mac. The show-stopper would be the encoder/decoder hardware.

First off, how do you map the zoom function to the mouse button? That would be terribly useful!

My biggest complaint with Apple's insistance on keeping with the one button mouse is that there isn't a nice, elegant, ergonomic multi-button mouse from Apple. I don't care if they call it the Apple Technical Mouse or what, I just wish there was one.

I always stayed away from Apple in the past for several reasons; a major one was the mouse. Being a recent switcher (last year, and no it had nothing to do with iPods) I can say that an interface that assumes that the user will only have one button is very well designed.

Since using a Mac with and without a multi-button mouse, I've seen many people, including otherwise competent ones, click wrong buttons on the PC. It makes me think that maybe Apple is really thinking about things instead of just being stubborn.

There's a reason why Sony put Memory Sticks in their devices. It's so that they can *gasp* sell more memory sticks.

Proprietary formats are the way of big business. "You've bought our system, now let us sell you accessories." Anyone who owns a console game system should be well familiar with this. Why can't I use the same memory card on my Gamecube and my PS2? Because they don't want you too. Why are all of the controller ports different and not just simple USB? This is especially glaring as the Xbox is standard USB with a funky plug. Manufactures make the big money selling add-ons or licensing fees from third partys who make add-ons.

Proprietary formats are there to create another license revenue stream for the manufacturer. It's not that OGG isn't popular, it's just that they don't control it. Sony has demonstrated that they would dump MP3 if they could. DRM is there not so that you don't pirate the media contents, but so that the format licensor can legally force it's usage and force payment for said usage.

The Pentium M, which is one third of the Centrino (the other two being the 855 chipset and the wireless LAN) is based off of the Pentium III. Tom's Hardware has an interesting write-up here.

If you want an odd analogy, try this:

Apple (well, IBM) has two processor varients: the G4 and G5. Intel had two processor varients as well: the Pentium 4 and the Itanium. Its an over simplification, but bear with me as it's about to get a whole lot more weird.

Imagine if the Itanium was so popular that it was selling enough to where dell was starting to use it in their budget machines. The only systems that were still using the P4 were the laptops and other ultra-condensed systems because the Itanium put out too much heat.

Let's say that Intel put's out the Centrino (Pentium M/Banias/whatever) in this environment. The public that's been demanding an Itanium laptop would tear it apart. There would be cries of "This is a step backwards!" and "I ain't using no P3 laptop in this day and age". It would take a marketing miracle to get this to sell.

Apple and IBM know that when people want a G5 laptop, you don't try to sell them a G3, even if it is a very advanced G3 that's better in many ways than your G4.

It also states that there are the known heat problems, Apple saying it won't happen, and has a link to a more likely higher speed 90nm G4 (MPC7448) to be used in the newer models.
