It's probably not too far off to say 99.9% of Windows crashing problems are due to operator error from installing bad drivers (from other manufacterers), installing bad hardware, installing crappy software.

So I buy a piece of hardware (say the newest ATI video card) so that I can play my games. It causes blue screens because the people that programmed a bad driver. This is my fault how? Is it my fault for wanting new hardware? Is it my fault for not having enough time to program my own driver for every piece of hardware I buy?

How do you get iQue from "next-generation video game machine"? iQue is based on the LAST generation's technology, NOT the next.

And why would Nintendo release a system in Japan that they pretty much already released years and years ago?

  8. 3 Complaints on iTunes for Windows Reviews · · Score: 1

I'm lovin' the iTunes, but I have 3 complaints.

    1. If you're previewing a song and click anywhere else in the iTMS your preview stops playing. Very annoying.

    2. I can't get iTunes to work at work, probably due to my firewall. It claims to get the proxy information from IE but I don't think its working yet.

    3. Half of the bands that I look for aren't on iTMS. Most of them refused to participate. Again, very annoying.

  14. O Brother Where Art Thou on Movie Landmarks for CGI Effects? · · Score: 1

Awesome movie. Anyway, I believe this was the first film to be 100% digitally filtered. The whole movie was shot in the summer where all the grass was green, yet the movie was filtered in a way to make it look like it took place in the dust-bowl era (ie brown grass and such.)

Unless I had seen the documentary on the DVD I never would have known.

9 times out of 10 though, the MP3s on KaZaa aren't 320bps. They're usually 128bps, and thats NOT CD quality. I can tell that, and I'm NOT an audiophile.

I mean copy as in duplicate. As in you can't distinguish the copy from the original.

I don't see whats so confusing about it. If you take a WAV and compress it into an MP3 its pretty damn easy to see that the 2 are not the same.

  22. Re:Insightful? on Kazaa CEO vs. Hilary Rosen · · Score: 1

  24. Buying CDs on The Effect of Pirated CDs · · Score: 3, Insightful

After reading a bunch of these comments, am I the only Slashdotter that still buys CDs? I download an MP3 of a song I like, and a few more from that artist. If I like the songs, I buy the CD.

I would never pay for MP3s because the quality isn't as good as a CD, plus I feel like I should get something tangible if I pay for it.

Also the "I don't buy CDs because nothing original has been released in the past 5 years" response is a cop-out. Newsflash: Britney Spears isn't the ONLY person who has released a CD in the past 5 years... look around there are a few gems out there, you just have to look places other than MTV.

And if you REALLY don't want to support the RIAA, just buy all your CDs from CD Baby. They may not have the artist you're looking for, but they probably have an artist who sounds a lot like em. :)
