How do you get off the highway? Say you went to sleep when you get on the highway and the car starts driving. The car's going to have to wake you up so you can exit and do the city driving. If you still need to be attentive then it's assisted driving, not really autonomous.
Google cars recognize pedestrians (of all sizes) and regularly notice them even when no human could. I'm sure the car would choose to hit another vehicle over a pedestrian or cyclist.
For a self driving car I am not sure a choice needs to be made. Most of the difficulty in stopping on time is the reaction time. With perfect reaction time, the car should be able to stop.
I am not sure where $70K isn't livable. However, I think the best way to be fair about pay is to have it be objective based on experience and qualifications.
Most of that could be minimized if people followed some basic things. Try to drive at a constant speed (speed limit if possible) and accelerate gradually. Brake only if necessary and gradually. Just taking your foot of the accelerator is enough sometimes. Make smooth transitions when turning. The benefit of all of this is improved fuel efficiency and much fewer accidents.
It's also the fact they want to get faster adoption of their universal app platform in Windows 10. If there are no users, developers won't develop for it. Giving it away for free helps to increase the user base so developers will consider it. Also they're now going to be able to make money from Win7 users via the app store.
Actually Jesus did address homosexual marriage directly. He quoted from Genesis at Matt. 19:4-6 about God putting the man and female together and saying the two should become one flesh. He followed the Law (Matt 5:17-18) and the Law clearly stated that homosexuality was a sin (Lev 18:22). Now homosexual marriage as a political issue, Jesus would have stayed out of that and wanted the same for his followers (John 17:16, 18:36).
For the United 93 case wouldn't having the computer in control prevent it from crashing into an office building anyway? While an emergency landing maybe necessary a computer should still be able to evaluate the risks and feasibility.
not hitting anything. Unless you're going really fast, I would expect the longest part in stopping a car from hitting something is the human reaction time. Take that out of the equation and driver less cars shouldn't be hitting anything.
The best way I have heard of dealing with trolls iis making them invisible to everyone but the troll. The troll continues to see his comments but no one else does.
The native NT API's don't actually change that much in breaking manner. Many ISVs, especially security software, rely on calling into the native API for stuff that isn't possible with Win32. Only recently has Microsoft gotten better at exposing much of that functionality. For instance if you had a handle to a thread and wanted to get the thread id, even though it's a very basic operation there was no way to do that before Windows Vista. Now there's GetThreadId.
There's no separate api. All requests for file objects go through the NT Object Manager which then passes it to the NTFS file system driver. There's actually a flag (OBJ_CASE_INSENSITIVE) that you pass to the kernel if you don't want it to consider case. The Win32 api always pass this flag. You can support case sensitivity in your application by not passing this flag.
Check out http://www.theregister.co.uk/2... (scroll down to oldnewthing). It's a parody of the Old New Thing blog but it's really truth in fiction and illustrates why Windows APIs are so difficult to call and probably why developer tend to take shortcuts.

Just set up a security camera and catch them in the act.

you don't talk about adblockers. I agree it was nice while it lasted.

Can't wait till we get to Firefox 100.0.

It's obviously affecting the slashdot editors too.

I think you can usually take your best guess and multiply 2.

I think voice control is the way to go.

For desktops you can always pivot to portrait mode if you're doing alot of document/scrolling work.
I think that's the way to do it. It's a win-win situation. Giving Google money so they can track you even better seems like a bad idea.
humans have a spiritual need (Matt. 4:4). They're going to try to fill that need some how.
Anybody else remember this game? Sounds alot like it.

If you want to keep track of what gets installed where check out Install Monitor (www.mirekusoft.com). It's designed to solve that exact problem.
