I used to use a MD player, and they're no smaller once you add the 10-15 minidiscs you need to carry around to be sure to have something even remotely close to what you're in the mood for listening to. I guess you could fairly compare a MD player to an iPod if you schlep a couple of shoulderbags full of discs around with you. Of course, that amount of media would cost more than the iPod, even ignoring the size and weight...
I got an old 4Gb drive which had stopped spinning up working again by first putting it in the freezer for 30 minutes (wrapped in an antistatic bag with another plastic bag around that to prevent moisture getting in), then removing it and giving it a couple (okay, more than a couple, because it was fun) of good solid whacks to the side of the drive. Hitting the top or the bottom of the drive wouldn't be a good idea IMO.
My browser actually checks spelling for me (Safari under OS X). I'm surprised Mozilla hasn't used the idea yet (or maybe it has, it certainly doesn't do it by default).
Try Command-[ and Command-] for page back/page forward. Yep, those keyboard shortcuts are listed in the History menu so I'm not sure why you didn't find them... they work in the Finder too.
Actually, you can make Windows very stable if you have full control of what's running on it. You never saw people complaining about their Dreamcasts crashing, after all.
I'm sorry, but if the code SCO has doesn't match the Linux source in any meaningful way (certainly not meaningful enough to take to the judge), how can IBM have stolen from SCO? IBM wrote the code, it belongs to them, case closed.
MS killed Internet Explorer by failing to maintain it adequately on BOTH Mac and PC. The PC version just isn't as obviously inadequate as the Mac version due to most webdesigners coding around its bugs (different to the Mac IE bugs) and limited feature set.
That depended entirely on the chipset. The ECS chipset could access the entire 1Mb. The AGA chipset could access 2Mb. If my memory serves me correctly, that is.:)
Erm, Baldur's Gate will run on a 64Mb Pentium 200 with an old TNT card (that's the machine I first played it on). If you can't make those specs, throw your PC out and spend $50 on a secondhand box that can handle it; it's worth it. Baldur's Gate II is superior in every aspect to the first game and doesn't require much more in terms of hardware.
Damn, that's some nasty kerning on that screenshot. Safari doesn't have that problem, I wonder why Konqueror does if it's using the same rendering engine?
I'm fairly sure that somebody has filled one with 8 2Gb DIMMs for a 16Gb system, and it worked.
Sounds like Afterburner.

Well, yes, if you use lossy compression obviously you're going to lose information. How is that relevent?
Oh, so your solution is to SHOOT OUR GOVERNMENT?
You fucking retard.
Oh, and as of Safari 1.2, Command and the left/right arrow keys go back/forward.

So use Windows 2000.

Try RTFA. There's a link to the Apple README which specifies the Mail/Address Book changes.
I presume you're not ripping off music while you wait?
Um, OS X tells you what folder you're in at the top of the window. What are you talking about?
By 'not exactly the same' I presume you mean 'completely dissimilar, merely using the Amiga name to part zealots from their money'.
From the Microsoft Australia website (http://www.microsoft.com/australia/pricing/defaul t.aspx#W):
Windows XP Home
Estimated Price: $463.00 (Inclusive of GST)
Windows XP Professional
Estimated Price: $675.00 (Inclusive of GST)
It certainly makes OS X's price of A$229 easier to tolerate.
Black Isle published Baldur's Gate but had nothing to do with the programming of it.. that was all Bioware up in Canada.
Already happening.

Bioware had nothing to do with Fallout. Perhaps you're confusing them with their publisher, Black Isle?
>2) Nobody can offend you without your consent
You've proven my point. Slashdot owes me an apology for insulting me without my consent.
Actually, the original poster meant that you CHOSE to be offended. Being insulted and offended are not the same thing.
