Being the ultra-cool guy I am, I work at a game store. We've got hundreds of pre-orders, for both the game, and the limited edition. We're even planning on having a "Halo Party" on midnight Nov. 8th where people who preordered it can pick it up and hang out with other Halo fans.
Halo 2 is easily going to be the #1 title of the year, despite having only 2 months to work with. GTA San Andreas isn't even coming close presell wise.
Only offering one level for five dollars is an outrage. I've spent hundreds of hours playing Rainbow Six 3 on Xbox live, and Ubisoft has offered a multitude of premium multiplayer maps for free download. Most of these maps are equal in quality to ones included in the box, with some being being better i.e. garage and carnival.
Once Splinter Cell 2 allowed users to download 2 online maps for $5, i knew there was going to be a change in the way content was distributed via xbox live. No longer are are we going to get companies who acknowledge the initial $50 investment and continue to support their product for free. We are entering the more capitalistic phase of online gaming...which was inevitable. It's just sad to see THQ charging 5 bucks for one single level. This is no expansion pack and will offer maybe a half hour of fun. Instead of spending the five bucks on an extra mission, go out a buy a book...Rainbow Six by Tom Clancy perhaps, and you'll probably get a better military experience...you might learn something too.
The politics category is slashdot is kind of out of hand.....There's not really any discussion whatsoever, just a bunch of agreement going on. I feel there's being very little new that's been brought to the table, or any new thoughts on the subject from any of these posts here. Sure you can say the same about me and mod me flamebait, but I'm not posting this from my political beliefs, I just feel nothing is being accomplished from these one-sided "discussions" which feel more like a high school pep rally with everyone chanting in unison. C'mon lets's add something new aside from Clinton gets sucked off and impeached...so why the fuck don't we all go abu garib on Bush's ass!?!?
For instance....The NYtimes, which has a history of perjurers (Jason Blair) and playing up toe the 5th avenue aristocracy has an anti-bush article which mainly sites known liberal only authors. Not that partisan writers cannot be effective, but a little variety should spice it up.....
I've been struck with a thought about how movies may be in the future on computer. Say you download Mean Girls, or something like that, and there's a scene where good ole Lindsay Lohan is eating a something from pizza hut or something. A viewer of the movie who's watching it on their computer could click on the pizza box and it'd automatically link to some sort of pizza hut/mean girls special....or even select ones would have a free pizza as a prize or something. Ummm...that's my idea, nobody steal it.
Actually the original artist is Stevie Wonder for his song Pasttime Paradise. Weird Al probably only had to ask permission as much as Coolio did for his version of someone else's song.
I was pretty riled up about this whole presidential election thing too, but now I'm not even going to vote. I'm pretty well-informed (or so I think) on all sides of issues and looking forward to voting this November. Then I went to a John Kerry rally, and everything changed. This was my first political rally an I was blown away by the mindlessness of the crowd. People were getting way too excited and it was mob mentality. Nobody paid attention to a word he said, they all just cheerd and waved their signs after he'd pause his speech. I"m sure G W B rallies are exactly like this. I was so affected by this that I decided the only smart move is to not vote for either candidate.
I'm sick of all this get out the vote crap now too. I think it only legitimizes these smarmy campaigns and brainwashingly hypnotic rallies. So this November, don't vote for anyone except yourself. There's no difference and it's all just photo ops and Bruce Springsteen songs.
Zardoz!!! Actually, I can't decide if it's the worst movie or the best, but it certainly makes me feel like something in my brain broke after watching it.
wow, no duke nukem forever jokes yet....c'mon guys

New cds don't cost that much in japan.
It is true though fanboys, the graphics are pretty lame for GTA. I love my PS2, but GTA got old really quick.
