Okay, with the MPAA already on their back, they just invited every PC (And some console, I would guess) game publisher to hate them as well. What's next? MUSIC X COPY and KARAOKE X COPY to piss off everyone else?
Wow, let's all join on the Nintendo-bashing bandwagon! Completely ignoring actual statistics!
Nintendo's stock price is back above 10,000 Yen for the first time in two months since the profit-loss announcement. Sales have been through the roof since the price-cut. Heck the article bases Nintendo's "failure" off of two month old console sales and sales of one game.
"The GameCube is teetering on the edge of whether they should stay in this business or not," Congratulations on doing research. Nintendo has said time and again, when they leave the console-making business, they leave the games business.
Game magazine editor Davison said the smartest thing for Nintendo to do would be to "circle the wagons" on the handheld market and give up the console market, a thought other analysts share. WHY? The GameCube has more million sellers (Including titles rated M) than the Xbox, in the states AND abroad. Heck, Super Smash Bros. Melee has outsold Halo, but would this article have you believe that?
Mario Kart Double Dash was the top seller in November, even though it was only out for 1/2 of the month. It sold 650,000 consoles compared to 750,000 PS2s and 400,000 Xboxen.
What more does the WashingtonPost expect out of Nintendo? They can only stage a comeback so fast. Of course, the Post fails to mention Sony's profit loss or MS's trickling Xbox Live numbers.
Whoever wrote this article clearly just wants to sound hip in putting down a company that is clearly in no position to leave. Don't base a company's success on their business in your area. Heck, would you believe Sony's profits fell 98% during one quarter this year? Just remember, it takes a lot less sales of First-party games(GCN) to make a profit than licensing out for Third-party games and console sales(PS2) and last I checked, as long as you are making money doing it, why stop? And, no, the profit loss last quarter was not due to sales of anything whatsoever. Nintendo's huge cash stockpile is overseas partially and when the value of the Yen increases by only a few cents, the value in the banks drops dramatically. If you've been following currency amounts, you'll know it's wacky. Heck, Canada's trading at nearly $1.30/76c for the first time in a long while.
It won't block access for two reasons. First, it always reports itself as an actual KaZaa program (That's how KaZaa Lite K++ users were able to have and make use of the karma download rating stuff) and second, because a lot of the KaZaa Lite K++ users upload more than they download and by finding a way to block them would hurt the network. Of course, that's never stopped them before.
Anyone who couldn't tell they'd bundle them should not be allowed near games anymore.
As for those merchandising things? Except for the board game, I have all the other things mentioned. Of course, to compensate, I have the Super Mario Bros and a Donkey Kong board game, along with a Tetris one, too.
Is that SHE'S(Read the quotes, people, she's a mother) never actually played these games, only seen other people play it.
It's another hyper-sensitive person who is a ludite. People fear what they don't understand and with games being the latest medium, she'd like to see it stomped out, similar to bad movies, music, plays or books.
History has proven itself that there are always something the parents believe to be a negative influence, and eventually it passes.
Of course, I will say this, when you ring up an M-rated game at Target, it pauses the checkout and forces the sales clerk to check your ID. If violent games are a concern to her, just have her shop elsewhere. Oh wait, she can't give up her Wal-Mart.
My brother needs a PDA for Xmas and this seems like the right choice for him. I have a Zire71 and a Visor Platinum, so I'm no stranger to PDAs. On the Zodiac's specs alone it's a great pda, plus it's designed with games in mind.
Sony saw huge profit drops this year as well and only EA made more money than Nintendo selling games. Nintendo is still fine and any doubters just base their "research" on American sales.
Should Pepsi or Dr. Pepper give in because they aren't #1 or diverse?
I haven't perused the 11 pages following the post, but that post answered somewhere between jack and crap. Everything he mentioned we could fix OURSELVES in the ini or knew about already. Basically it was like taking credit for the ini-modders.
What he DIDN'T address was how lack of reloading, locking down weapons(Including the KNIFE and blunt objects), unified ammo, a mouse-less UI and removal of experience points isn't dumbing down the game.
I tend to look at GTA3 as a game similar to Zelda. You have a complex world, free roaming, and some dungeon/quests to complete in order to get new items.
Yeah, it's amazing how shocked people can get when you point out the lyrics in the song, like anything from e-Rotic, of course if anyone was paying attention from the get go, someone would have complained about the manji(A mirrored swastika) on Orion.78 and Captain Jack in ignorance. Parents will find flaws in things they WANT to. If they want to believe it's wholesome, then they'll look past that.
Songs like Little Bitch, Sexy Planet, Blow My Whistle Bitch and Oh Nick Please Not So Quick are sure to be PERFECT alternatives to Jak II.
What about the innuendos in Secret Rendevous, The Reflex or In The Navy?
"You're as hot as a fire and strong as a try!"
Heck, in Euromix they have The Bad Touch as one of the songs.
At least to me, my girlfriend doesn't see a problem in any games with appealing to men/women more(Pardon the obvious Barbie games and DOA:XBV), but that's her.
Any changes are just messing with the current formula of titles but those are already a fine match for us.
Who was expecting anything different? *sigh*
What did Warren Spector do to become allowed to ruin such series?
It made sense to use ONLY railroad tracks. Albeit more expensive, it was more acceptable and well liked. How far our games have come. . .
Just when I thought they would let it die down, due to it being a bit more personal and involved, it seems like they went in to full gear.
But I'm still a bit doubtful that ANY network admin wouldn't notice 11GB of traffic to an outside location on the network.
Okay, with the MPAA already on their back, they just invited every PC (And some console, I would guess) game publisher to hate them as well. What's next? MUSIC X COPY and KARAOKE X COPY to piss off everyone else?
I personally don't like my data being controlled by activation. How does the SP2 work if Reset5 is installed?
Just like mentioning hookers, if you have to question where the next GTA will be based you haven't played the first two.
GTA2 had THREE cities. Liberty City, Vice City and San Andreas City.
They're actually showing that GTA3 still exists. The last time /. published a GTA:VC:MTA update, the site was devoid of GTA3:MTA content.
I will now stop playing GTA and go molest a child. Apparently you would prefer that I did.

A Concerned Ex-Gamer
How long until I expect a response?
Uhm, no component cables? Why spend so much for something that won't even look pretty?

Konami's own games have already connected together before.
Beatmania and DDR had combinations to play together in a horrid Club mix.
Keyboardmania, Guitar Freaks and Drummania also all link together for up to a 5-person jam session.

J2ME, the N-Gage platform, is open too, how else did they get it to run on J2ME devices?

I'm all for freedom and no ties to the government, but we've obviously not educated enough people.
Is it too radical to consider that we should impose SOMETHING against stupid clerks who could care less about their job?

This is nearly the same as last year, EA, Nintendo and Sony ranked in that order. Is this supposed to illustrate some major change?
"So, in closing, nothing has changed. On behalf of Warp Pipe we were wrong for thinking that SF supported closed source projects."
Someone TOTALLY missed the whole point of the OSDN.
At least to me, my girlfriend doesn't see a problem in any games with appealing to men/women more(Pardon the obvious Barbie games and DOA:XBV), but that's her.

In the summer time? When the weather is hot?
