I was trying to be as diplomatic as possible. This subject causes people that are normally level headed on most issues to fly off the handle on some jingoistic rant.
You are certainly correct that one has to look seriously at the crawl back of real freedoms that are occuring in the United States. Unfortunately it is hard to have these type of discussions on Slashdot.
The assumption you are making is,that it is American foreign policy to liberate other nations. Outside of the United States this is not generally an accepted view of how things happen.
As is the case currently the United States will certainly liberate the Iraqi oil, and in doing so it might install a democracy and liberate the Iraqi people, but I see this as an incidental event.
Not an anti-war rant, just a differing opinion. Respond with comments not moderation.
Why does any criticism of this invasion of Iraq garner such strong feelings of hatred?
I mean you live in a democracy suposedly where people are free to voice there concerns.
Just seems weird is all. I mean who hear, blindly supports anything in other areas of their life to the extent that criticism illicits such strong hatred?
I love how i get moderated as a troll for telling the truth. Slashdot moderators pushing an agenda as usual. Thanks for the even handed responds tack, i was angry when I wrote that , because the level of discourse is low enough without people quoting rumours as facts.
You are ignorant. The missiles fired were not scuds. Once again showing that Americans will eat as truth and piece of propaganda thrown there way.
Have a nice day.

This can't have seriously gotten modded up? Complete rubbish. I mean does every single person on slashdot eat and shit US propaganda?
Why is it that there are never any skeptical viewpoints on whether your government, who has lied as a matter of policy(Iran-Contra anyone?), is feeding the US population a stream of lies and half truths.
You have a point on Bios flashing, as it is possible to leave yourself with a dead board, but your comment about tinkering around with the bios is incorrect, or at least merely your opinion. Your comment about the standard or default settings as being the best is not born out by practical experience.
Most abit boards ship with rather slow default settings in the bios, and setting them correctly can garner up to 1500 more 3dmarks. Just my 2 cents.
Your argument would be sound if it was not for the fact that Metroid is not a first person shooter. Do some research before u spout some crap as fact. Just because something is in first person view does not make it a shooter. You have obviously not played any of the metroid games.
Right on. Firefly was easily the gayest Sci-Fi show I've ever watched. I grew up reading Isaac Asimov books and its sad to see what passes for Science fiction these days.
I use these clients to download almost exclusively TV shows. I pay for cable already, so i think that I have the right to download a TV show that I already payed for with my cable bill.
If all the games that run under a windows environment could be run in a linux environment then there would be no reason not to run a free OS.
And by all I mean all. Not some or a few but every single title released worked under both environments.
Yes I know you could dual boot, or just play whatever is available currently, but that seems to me like the tail wagging the dog. If games can drive hardware purchases then they sure as hell can drive OS preferences also.

I think you mean "Mr. K" :)
The world certainly is becomming more Kafkaesque day by day.

Where is this mythical Slashdot, where technical discussions can be carried out?
"While one should be cautious about drawing conclusions from a single data point, its interesting to speculate." :P
This IS slashdot, isn't it?
I've been cashless for like 6 months since i got laid off. :(
What are you going to do? Release the dogs? or the Bees? Or the dogs with bees in there mouth and when they bark they shoot bees at you?
This suit is designed specifically to give manufacturers an idea of the ease of use of their products, by people that are elderly.
Yes you may know some 70 year olds that are fitter then 30 year olds, but there are alot that have trouble performing everyday tasks.
This suit is a pretty neat idea on how to make better design choices.
It's quite amusing that you associate mp3's with thievery. Kinda shows that the brainwashing by the Recording Industry has been quite successfull.
Did you read the article? Guess not.
"It ran three times faster on our Linux Alphas than on our IRIX SGI machines"
The switch to linux was based on performance issues.
Slashbots, should read the article before posting.
"What's not apparant is that this case has two drives in it apparantly. Very Slick."
Me passed grade 4. Me can speel grate! Me want job!
Slashdot editors...continuing the assualt on all things grammatical!

Would have been even funnier if you had named the correct drummer, Lars Ulrich. :P
James Hetfield is one of the 2 guitarists and lead singer.

Situation Normal All Fucked Up. I think first used by the Military during the second world war, and no im not making this up.
Just for anyone wondering, its www.mutt.org, not mut.org
Hehe, at least have the balls to proclaim your first post prediction boldly!
Here is a good question: What does it take to drive a population to resort to suicide bombings?
