Besides the "hefty spring" reset button, my II+ had a switch on the motherboard. Set one way, the control key was required in addition to the reset. Set the other way, the reset key worked on its own.
FWIW, perforce has whitepapers here that compare Perforce against VSS, ClearCase, CVS, and PVCS. Obviously, they are slanted, but they might be worth looking at anyway.

If you are right that Iraq doesn't have the bomb (I'm not sure even the inspectors can say that with any certainty), all the more reason to invade them rather than North Korea - Iraq won't launch nukes it doesn't have. Attacking North Korea in no way assures they won't get a nuke off, unless the US were to launch an all-out preemptive nuke attack against them, which is not on the table right now, in small part because it would prove true North Korea's belief that the US wants to destroy their country.

Anyone besides me think that an interview that old is likely to have little or nothing to do with Gates's current mindframe or business? Microsoft couldn't exist today if it was the same as it was in 1995! Few, if any, tech companies could!
You say that like crumpling is a crash is a bad thing.
I'd rather walk away from a totalled, crumpled car that insurance will replace than bounce the back of my head through a window when someone rear-ends me.
I've never tried it, but I've heard that a strong person wearing gloves can brace their foot on the steering wheel, pull on the club, and break it at it's weakest point: one of the detents that the lock latches into.
At those points, it's probably about half the diameter of the rest of the club.

...surviving for 24 hours with his only warmth coming from carefully measured dozes[sic] of brandy.
Alcohol only gives the perception of warmth. It does it by dilating blood vessels in the skin. The result is you lose heat faster. Drinking when you're really cold is a good way to get dead.
Besides, chilling your battery will not revive it. It will only slow down power loss.
1. Your employer was underpaying you. Either they did it knowingly or they had no clue what you're worth. Either is pretty bad.
2. You're not very "go-get-em" with respect to your salary. If you can allow your pay scale to fall that far behind, you're not very good at looking out for your own career. As an honest employer, I'd wonder whether an employee who doesn't stand up for him/herself can serve my best intrests. As a crooked employer I'd wonder what else I could pull over on you.
When I resign, I include a sentence like: "My decision is final and I am not interested in a counter offer." Don't accept your employer's counter.

More experienced, more certified, more desperate (i.e. supporting families) people are having a hard time finding IT jobs right now.
Another post suggests moving your location. Do some research and figure out where there's a relative lack of demand and target that area. Or live in your parents basement.

you suggest you already have a strong opinion about the subject.
I'm not suggesting that your conclusion is wrong, but you must have reached it somehow. What materials did you read to draw such a strong opinion?

Yeah, right! All geeks know that leaving stale chips, pizza boxes, etc on the floor never attracts cockroaches, mice, or anything!
