    And what exactly do you do to make a interesting case design for a laptop? It's a f-ing LAPTOP for gods sake! How original can you get. They all look the same. Just because the put a metal top on it doesnt make it a Mac rip-off.

    Back when I got my first cell phone I had it set up so that anytime somebody would call me they wound up paying for the time used.
    This of course was 5-6 years ago before $99 for unlimited calls type plans.
    Now if it wasnt for the fact that I need a land line for my Fax machine I wouldnt have one at all.

    What I would relly like to see all of these companies that do phone sales have to pay a buck a minuite for every call they make. I'd keep them on the phone for as long as a could before I tell them no.

    I would say that a bigger issue than this, and the real reason that Verisign should lose the ability to sell domains, is thier incredibly un-ethical marketing practices. You know the Renew with verisign spam even though you didnt enroll with then in the first place...

    Two cool games that I have seen recentlly that let you build things yourself are Roller coaster Tycoon and Incredible Machine. I would think that both of these would fit the bill on a PC.
    However I personally wish that there was more real world toys today like the Erectorsets and Legos I loved as a kid.
    And whatever happened to heathkit? I loved that stuff in highshool. I still have the robot I built in 11th grade...

    This is why instead of changing the "under God" portion of the Pledge of Allegiance they should change the last line to "liberty and justice for those who can afford it." Support 2600 and the EFF or the First amendment will be re-written by big corporations.

    A good site for tracking sattilites is J-TRACK on NASA.gov A free little java app that updates satilite positions in real time and also has the ability to let you find out when a a selected sat is passing over you by entering your ZIP code. you can also access this link by going to the DR SKY website. Pretty cool.

    Ever heard of operation Shamrock? No? In the 40s and 50s the NSA in co-operation with the FBI monitored ALL domestic and forgin communications with the help of the major wire services of the time.
    How did it start out? Traffic analysis. And it was a slippery slope thaqt lead to watch listing all sorts of people. Especally those that dissagreed with the goverment.
    They were forced to stop by congress, but as they have alreay abused this kind of power once do we really want them to have it again?

    It is far more likely, unfortunate as it may be, that the statute will be ignored or even changed.

    This is all too true. We are after all talking about a state that has had its lawmakers reverse ballot initiatives 2 weeks after the elections because the vast majority of voters that approved it "didn't know what they were doing". Ironically this was the same election that most of these lawmakers were elected in.
    As an AZ resident I have great faith in our government's ability to weasel out of this. Especially if it's against the will of the people

    Ah but if you can fake out this system by appying water to a fake finger I think you can probably come up with something that would work for a real finger. Or if that dosn't work make a fake finger from the real finger and then use water to fake out reader.... Or whatever.

    I seem to recall that there have already been some court cases on this, but none has resulted in a firm decision. Unfortunately when this kind of thing crops up it has so far been aginst a little guy that really doesnt have the resources to fight the kind of protracted court battle that would make for a binding decision by courts.

    Seattle, which has had a monorail since 68 to transport between the space needle and down town has a really cool enclosed track siding with little ramps that reach out to the sides of the cars once the train is in position. This is of course to keep the shivering tourists from plunging 50 feet to their deaths. They only have them at one of the two stops though. Back in the day when I was but a lad you would occasionally see the more daring (or stupid) teenagers jump out onto the rail and back at the down town (now enclosed) end of the line.

    I was in NY recently and saw no less than 20 guys standing on the street selling movies that were still in the theater. Or what about the guy at Fry's buying 50 DVD burners with cash, gee that's not suspicious. But use a hack put the same copy of XP on two computers at home.... now you'll be serving some real time!

    I worked for a company that set up a cisco wireless for a VERY lage farming operation out in New Mexico. As I recal it was much cheaper than Microwave and without some of the problems of Micro. Still needs line of site tho'...
