We need at least one major vendor to crack and offer, completely transparently, at least a choice, and it has to be advertised and on the shelves.
And in my case it also has to be completely and professionally translated to Finnish. Or at least if it can be started from the "start menu", it must be in Finnish.
it is simply mind boggling to me that people would put up with all that spyware stuff
Not really. Since the computer has been showing those pop-ups for a long time, that must be how it is supposed to work. People don't realize anything is wrong until something that they use frequently and are familiar with either stops working completely or works differently.
I have compiled a collection of software that contains software (eg. Firefox, Thunderbird) that is not as vulnerable to common exploits. I also tell the people I help that they should use Firefox (or Opera) for normal day-to-day surfing and only use IE when a page that they absolutely must use simply refuses to work with the normal browser.
Iron giant was computer animated, but it was colored by hand. And they were careful to animate in twos when you would traditionally animate in twos. And the line-rendering algorithm used a varying line thickness so it would look hand drawn.
I think those are the three main things to to make your model look hand drawn. Don't have perfectly smooth, interpolated animation, don't have perfect lighting and don't have perfect lines.
...that would pop up a dialog saying "Seriously, I'm a virus. Dou you really want to execute me? [YES] [NO]" with "no" as the default, and that would really respect the user's answer.
Tell me how any of those things stop someone from making a worm that sends itself to all your Gaim contacts, and how they stop you from executing the worm when you receive one from your friend.
This worm does not exploit a hole in MSN Messenger. Users have to execute the worm themselves. It does not execute automatically.

The hidden triforce story reminds me of the stuff you had to do to revive Aeris in Final Fantasy 7. Although it seems the hidden triforce stuff went on a lot longer.
Dual analog sticks? Do you wonder why pretty much *no* portable has these, even the PSP?
It's true that the PSP doesn't have dual analog controllers, but it does have one, even it it's not a stick. It's the disc in the lower left corner. Unfortunately it looks to be in an ankward place, judging from the pictures.
Hey, they already say "Also, we hereby state, that the information in this notification is accurate and that we are authorized to act on behalf of the owners of the exclusive rights being infringed as set forth in this notification."
At least in this forum post. MPAA is accusing that the guy was downloading the movie "Speed", when the file name is "supermetroid-speedrunv3-frenom.avi."
I would understand the mistake if the file name was something like "Supermetroid -Speed-frenom.avi", since many movies floating in p2p networks have the name of the ripper/encoder/releaser in them, but the name had the word "speedrun", not just "Speed."
Yes, it sounds pretty ominous, but there still hasn't been any official figure on how long the battery will last. It could be that the PSP has a battery life of only 90 minutes on full load. It could be that the real world battery life is longer even in that case. I don't know, and I don't think anybody outside Sony really knows.
Could be that Sony thinks that 8 hours is not long enough, and wants developers to conserve power. I admit that it is very unlikely, though.
Why is Hillary Clinton becoming the first female U.S president a problem?
This is an honest question from a foreigner.

The word is terrist.

That was probably the worst joke ever. At least you didn't use M$ or Micro$oft.

Honestly, who quotes themselves?
Because Halo was a fun game and Halo 2 will probably be just as fun.
Couldn't do that with the much heavier and bigger PS2 or XBox.
YOU ARE A PUNY GIRLIE-MAN! I CAN CARRY THE XBOX AND THE PS2 UNDER MY ARMS AND STILL BE ABLE TO LIFT THE GAMCUBE FROM ITS HANDLE. GRRRRR!

You suck.
You're wrong, information wants to be anthropomorphized.

No.
The official specs sound promising, and people are in love with them.
I did pretty much just that. Behold: 0-day moviez!
It is updated once a week from http://www.imdb.com/chart/

Well hello there, Nostradamus.
Okay, that moderation is just plain wrong.
Has there been one single official announcement by Sony regarding any of the problems people are attributing to the PSP?
There have been multiple stories on Slashdot in the past couple of weeks and I'm pretty sure all of them have been based on rumors and hearsay.
And people, you don't have to love one machine and hate the other.
Yeah, like S3 is really relevant in gaming these days.
