They cost too much, especially thinking of how much cd media costs, and all this copy protection talk is pretty tiresome. I always go to Cheap CD's to find the track listing and some sound samples, then go to Audiogalaxy if it sounds interesting, so I can listen to all the songs before I decide if I want to purchase it. I hate paying for filler material. I want songs that were made because the artist wanted to make it and put some heart into it, not something they had to cook up to finish the album. I'm threw with fattening up record execs just by doing(IMHO) the right thing and purchasing cd's.
I think the folks at Fairtunes have the right idea. Check out this link I got from their faq to see how much artists actually get from these cd sales.
actually, Mr. Coward, I'm just trying to look for something to do with a some ancient computers that my aunt got at a school auction. My computer is a 1.33GHz Athlon T-Bird with 640mb of ram, 70 gigs of HD space, a Geforce MX200 64mb, with onboard sound, cable modem, blah blah blah. Excuse my wanting to tinker around on an old system. Better yet, dont post here, kid.
I always liked that I could run Linux on old hardware. Is there anyway that I can install Gentoo or Sorcerer Linux on an old 386 with 16mb of ram? The posted minimum specs to install them are a little more daunting than this.
Probably the most brilliant thought I've seen posted in this entire session.
Has anyone else thought how disastrous it'll be the first time they try and show someone becoming a super saiyan? I was thinking lately about what a live-action DBZ would be like, and this sounds worse and worse by the minute.
Why cant they take something that really NEEDS to be made into live action,... like Keanu Reeves.
People seem to have no clue why I can get such a kick out of completely stupid movies. As long as they're dumb enough, you can laugh your way through it(unlike Mystery Men, which lulled at times). I've rented Pootie Tang 3 times now, and I love forcing people to watch it!!!
I suppose that you're pretty cool for bragging that you steal software. You're doing a good service to the IT community, which I'll assume that you feel like you have some part in, since you're floating around slashdot. And drudging up another thread about Linux vs. Windows, I suppose that's as good a way to fill your lonely Friday: fan the everpresent geek flames and revel in the fruits of your labor. I think you should post anonymously from now on.
I've seen it. Just last night, actually. I'm in the military, too. You can read all these nit-picky posts about how this and that was inaccurate, or how the plot should have been more blah blah blah, or you can just decide to go out and hang out with some friends, enjoying a flick with some good action and effects and a patriotic message. I'm sure you'll see things that make you roll your eyes, but this movie wont make you any dumber for having seen it. I'm glad that plenty of people on here can be condescending about how the movie is just a bunch of flash for entertainment's sake, but isn't that why they went to see it? If they really want it to be that realistic, they can just go join the military(everyone's invited) and try and get themselves into harm's way long enough to experience some danger WORTHY of their approval. Dont like the movie? Download the source and compile your own!(A horrid analogy, I know, but I'm sure most of you get my point).
Well, not really, we ARE one of the top engineering schools in the country. Just surprising that midshipmen study:). Also, Radio Shack? Wow! I think I'd have mail ordered them first.
I like linux a lot and have followed it for about 3.5 years(or whenever Redhat 5.2 came out). I've also been trying to get into programming in my free time, focusing mainly on games and graphics(bought all the applicable best sellers). I wanted to someday program games for Linux, but games take a lot to do, and the industry is pretty competitive to get into, I hear. I would love to see linux get _completely_ up to speed in the driver and game support markets, like it's beginning to in the office suite area. Anyone think I could convince game companies to contract me out--cheap--to do their linux port for them, so they dont have to free up necessary developers for it? I'd do it for free if I had time outside of that to hold a regular job. Or would they likely shy from that idea, to protect their intellectual property? I think that open source programmers could do a lot by offering up their services to these companies. They'd probably just have to sign into a lot of legal stuff, to prevent closed source piracy. Insert criticism here.
You know, there are plenty of cheaper DVD players out there, most of them able to also play video, audio, and mp3 cd's. You should redirect your finances, if you just want a DVD player. If you're looking for a powerful, low cost workstation(booting linux), that's a different case, entirely.
....like take them outside and have them play some physical sport that forces them to use problem solving and to respect the limits and abilities of their own bodies. Just a thought.

I know this is offtopic, but I was still sorta hoping that this retarded Slashdot Blackout thing was an april fool's joke brewing.

Wow. Shame to hear. I see looting in the near future...
It just too darn easy. But seriously, was anyone else's mouth watering for just a second? Just one second? Come on...

I think we all love and respect ESR here(*wink*), but I think I'm about ready to start up a petition to have him neutered. Who's game?
Breakin' II. A movie about breakdancing. A pretty good movie, if I remember correctly.

All us cool people know the matrix got that bullet slo-mo scene from a Dragonball Z episode.
Please mod this guy down to "-4, scrub"

I dont care what any moderator says....That's funny!
Doesn't GTA stand for "Grand Theft Auto", and not "Grand Turismo"?
This is cute and all, but has anyone heard of a light gun or something similar being used as a mouse or as a first person shooter gun?

Can you please return Munch to the PC? NOW?!
funny... I'm just getting started, and make a bit more than $30K.
I think a "divide by zero" error would screw up any escher level.
Would anyone like to buy a web browser? $29.99. No, I didn't create it. Yes, everyone owns it, but...Look, do you want to buy it or not?

This seriously should have gotten a score of 0. I cant believe racists like you are allowed to exist.
