I used to work for an undisclosed ISP in Australia.
Whilst working there, we got a new call/distribution/PABX system which used TAPI & run on NT, so we could watch the queues from software on our desktop.
It didn't take long to figure out that if you DoS attacked the NT box, the whole queueing system would go down! no more calls! it took them bout 4 months to fix it..
Feeding speed to our kids isn't the solution to this so called 'disorder'.
All kids have short attention spans, with some kids maybe worse then others. Just like that episode of southpark where Mr Macky performs an ADHD 'test'. He reads The Great Gatsby to the kids in one sitting, then asks them a question about it, of course they'd all fallen asleep by then, so they were all diagnosed as having ADHD.
IMHO Any kind of cognative therapy is better then drugs.
What don't you understand about SERVER OS. You can't expect to run the latest version of DirectX on 2003. It's not meant for that. The same went for NT4, it only ever ran DX5 on it. If you want a gaming platform, then use the platform games are written for.. XP
Sorry if that seems harsh.
"Which of these two definitions of "brilliant" did you mean"
Your not understanding the matrix philosophy here. Its important that you understand that the word 'brilliant', only the meaning behind the word...the word does not mean anything, except for the meaning associated with the word.
I can see where Eric is headed on this one. 1 logo which would unite the hacker community. A little bit like a new world order, instead of having BSD vs. Linux ect.
But we already have one. its called/.
All of KaZZa is one big spyware application. If you run adaware over Kazza & nuke the spyware, when its re-started, it complains about "missing modules" & promptly downloads & installs it all again.. then off course there is KaZZA lite, which doesn't have ANY spyware & is a lot better then KaZZa itself, but then by using that, your breaking the law.. DMCA & all that crud...
I can't wait for this whole SCO thing to go away. Maybe it's a bit like that simpsons halloween episode where the billboard ads come to life. If you ignore them. They'll go away.
SCO died because of Linux. They thought they were the only intel based Unix OS out there. They didn't innovate & they died.
don't these guys a pivx know anything? I'm sure if they remove they're page. no one else will continue to post the vulnerabilities. Oh yeah. & then there's always Google's cache
Don't see the point. unless they've bowed to pressure from MS.. that or they're getting kickbacks to stay silent.
on a windows machine, hold the "windows logo key" and the Pause/Break key together!.. OMG! 2 of the most useless keys on the keyboard, together, they actually do.. well.. a useless shortcut
maybe not.
Are bic lighters allowed to be carried onto flights?
Maybe if the major PC corps lobby enough to allow fuel cells on flights it'll be ok. Isn't that why your not allowed to carry on nail clippers & cork screw's, but can take on lighters? The tobacco industry pressured the government about it, cause they didn't want to incontinence smokers.
printer things like hp/cannon inkjets have become throw away consumables.
Companies, sell them cheap & make money off the cartridges. After all, where's the money to be made in a printer that lasts 5-6 years & uses standard carbon or ink???
I still think the higher end corporate network printers are a bit more robust. but then your still stuck with buy proprietary cartridge refills.
I think the concept behind this is quiet good. Makes it a lot like a classroom, with a teacher. The teacher asks a question & then asks a student to answer. Other students get to rate people's answers too, so its like a round-robin slashdot.
Don't know why it cost so much to develop, but hey! its open source. Someone might mod this & get some good use out of it.

Obviously you haven't watched Monsters Inc. Sully's fur was great. not exactly an animal.. but monster is close enough

as a user of the original REAL VNC, i went to tight case it performed much better over dialup
the article fails to mention how useful old laptops are as doorstops, frisbees' and anchors.
i think someone with a sense of humor at the patent office is responsible for this one.
it looks like the webhost is actually running the hardware from the catalogue
if they can't, then whats the point. anyone who's doing anything illegal & knows the FBI can listen in, will just encrypt.
Big waste of time

Maybe for you, but i was hoping to make a killing on the black market selling off my "valid skin, urine, blood & mouth swabs for millions.
Being serious for a moment though. I love that movie, to quote it... which is a quote from Einstein (from what i can remember):
