    Lets say the hotspot you're in has 54Mbps, straight to it's ISP's NNTP server.

    That's 6.75 MB give or take per second from a news server. An average 1 disc xvid movie is ~700MB. You could download a movie from newsgroups in 104 seconds that way...

    That's just about 34 movies per hour.

    ...

    WOOHOO! WHO NEEDS A THEATRE!?

    The IM community is so partitioned now, that most users have to run 2-4 different clients in order to talk to all of their friends. What about a service that is open, cant be bought out, and will last for a long time?

    Has anyone run into a decentralized IM service?

    It's not technically the OS crashing, it's the app.

    This seminar may have been more useful as "things to keep in mind when starting a mmog". Why would you discourage people from designing something?

    IMHO, It sounds like he just wants less competition.

    Side note: Whats with the horrible selection of pictures that come with this article? It's a seminar, shouldnt they just have one picture of him speaking? Maybe some screenshots? Instead they have four pictures of him speaking, not even at different angles. Ones blurry too.
