I felt a great disturbance in the Force...as if millions of voices (of Apple zelots) suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible has happened.
If you have a Gmail account, next to the search buttons there's the "Show search options" link that opens a query form that does all that and some more:) If you don't have a Gmail account I can give you one;)
A simulation, of course, can be reset and rerun any number of times. At any point when we might seem on the verge of creating artificial intelligence (which perhaps already exists and is simulating us), we might be reset to say, 3000 BC and have to start all over again. This lends new meaning to Francis Fukuyama's phrase "the death of History."
Of course, this will already have happened many times over, with variations each time.

Could be a very good idea. Just googled-it and found a few cool links: TCP/IP over IEEE1394 ; 1394, i.Link, Firewire Networking The speed of FireWire sure seems adequate to substitute some small network ethernet connections...
This must be one of the few times this happens, but the Portuguese counterpart of/. , Gildot has beaten his big brother to the story! You can read it here!

Right now the cost of these things is too big, but if they manage to really break into the battery market, it will probably go dow with mass production. Then maybe, as stated in this article also from wired, we can start seein real electric cars...
No gas, just methanol, 33 cents a gallon...
I just read the.pdf of their previous message sent in 1999 (Evpatoria Message), by the way it was much bigger and had a lot of more info.
Jupiter's mass and size are indicated because it's the biggest planet of our solar system, the one probably easier to see on a first glimpse of it through a telescope, just like Jovian planets are the only ones we've been able to see with our own telescopes.
Just a loose thought in the middle of all these raving rants...
What if this mail was real, coming from Afghanistan but it had been written by someone that actually had access to a PC relatively updated, someone whith the money and freedom in that land, someone from the old taliban government?
This might be more a distraction than a hoax...
As anybody noticed the image on the screen is always the same in all the pictures? And no power cables shown...
Looks more like a model to me than a real working PC...
