with a good number of the Atari brand cartridges also renamed?
I remember buying a game that turned out to be River Raid with the named changed into "Operacao AM-X". The instruction/storyline were in portuguese printed on the cartridge (no individual manual required). Other than that, it was just plain River Raid.
Hey, you just invented a way for any terrorist to have an unmonitored phone call. All they have to do is talk about how their mother's doing for a bit, and they can be sure that any agent listening in will have disconnected.
I realize you are being sarcastic, but that "loophole" is hardly novel.
Remember the movie "Casino"? Joe Pesci and Robert DeNiro would have their wives talk to each other for a couple of minutes and then as soon as the cops stopped listening (I guess they could hear a click or somesuch, we are talking late 70's) they would quickly exchange meeting info and the like.
I guess the same updates that are available now will be available then. Only, they'll not be supported. I doubt (didn't RTFA) that Microsoft will eradicate the patch files from their site.
I dunno... I guess in the long run it makes sense. But it's still cheaper and more convenient for me to just pay one of the neighborhood kids to do it.
I gave the Sims a try and couldn't keep with it. Frigging clock ran like a runaway train, even at the slowest mode.
There was never enough time for anything and *no weekends*. Sure, you could miss a day of work and not get fired, but still, even taking a leak took too much precious time.
The moronic comments cannot be helped, unfortunately. As long as there are morons who think the world didn't exist before their birth, you'll run across that kind of comments.
As for the plastic "Aragorn's Sword", I don't see anything wrong there. It's not like they are desecrating a sacred symbol. Did you really expect Peter Jackson to get the greenlight for such expensive project without the merchandizing deals already in place?
They are simply trying to squeeze as much money as possible from the franchise. Nothing wrong with that, just like there's nothing wrong with "Harry Potter vibrating broomstick" nor the Star War action figures you see everywhere.
Ok, now that I re-read my post, I wasn't clear enough. Yes, all those actresses you mention are quite an eyeful, but they all became involved in projects that stink to high heaven.
Punky Brewster? Besides that show, I only remember her in a baaaad movie about a professor accused of murdering or some shuch.
Alyssa Milano: Rent poison ivy 2. Quite hot, she is, but besides "Charmed", I don't think she's been in anything good.
Nikki Cox: hotness! Limited to bad sitcoms, apparently.
Dana Plato was quite hot (she acted in a softcore movie were she showed everything and engaged in some girl on girl action) until she started hitting drugstores and drugs themselves wich led to her demise.
I think Ebert said it best when he mentioned that she was in "the early stages of babehood".
She's about 13 I guess, so we'll have to wait a few years to see if she shines or burns out (think Dana Plato). I can't remember a child star that did well past puberty.
Does every taxpayer really need the $.005 back? (or whatever the figure is. even if its $10, it's not worth the effort)
I believe the poster wasn't talking about refunds (that'll be the day...), but rather, tax cuts or the funding of programs that directly benefit the community.
I have actually seen a TOS that said that the ISP's decision were final. They gave you two oportunities to appeal to them, but after that, whatever they said, went. Not sure if this would hold up in front of a real judge.
I really hate, I mean I - HATE - those god awful gianormous skyscraper towers that blast out 90dB of concentration breaking whirring and grinding sounds.
Hell, yeah! As I grow older my tolerance for this kind of noise diminishes, for some reason. I'm seriously considering buying one of those noise cancelling headphones for the times I have to work in the server room. Not only are there about 50+ machines plus switches/routers etc, each with multiple fans, but there's a couple of AC vents on the floor that are almost over the AC machine thingy and that thing is *LOUD*.
I might already have some Tinnitus (I have yet to go to the doctor) and I'm not taking any chances.
It also doesn't help that the show was downright boring.
I have to agree with you. The show had great premises, but poor execution. Usually by the end of the first 15 minutes I was bored and ended up reading a magazine or surfing the web and half paying attention to the show's audio in case something came up.
Still, it's a shame it was cancelled. The show could have been improved, the actors/actresses were fine and you could grow to like the chars. Maybe a change of writer or director or somesuch (I know very little about tv/movies production). Besides, we have a serious lack of SF shows nowadays. The last thing we need is another L.A. Law or ER clone.
Did you know Vivendi is going to destroy the contents of mp3.com unless we can get enough people to protest? Please forward this email to all the people in your address book. This is not a joke. Bill Gates is really giving... er... WE can really convince them to preserve the music.
Email is not an assault, unless the person says they're gonna hurt you, and you have some reason to believe that they are not kidding around.
According to the article, that's exactly what happened here. There were threats about "disabling" employees with bullet, ice picks and anthrax. Talk about getting medieval.
If the neighbor's dog craps in my lawn every day and no complain of mine gets the owner to react, that doesn't empowers me to make threatening phone calls to his house.
All kidding aside, ehh. She is sharing illegal files. She got caught. I'm not really seeing the "Shock and Awe" about this news article
Indeed. The 12 year old's case was all over the news. How could this person not have been aware of it?
She willingly chose to share her files when everyone has been talking about the RIAA actions.
Do they see file sharing as "civil disobedience" and think that will really change the laws/industry? Stop supporting RIAA's artists (and I use the term loosely) if you want to protest RIAA's actions. Don't buy the CDs and don't go to the concerts, but if you insist on downloading/sharing, don't act surprised when legal action is taken against you.
As an aside: I think Dr King said that civil disobedience to protest an unjust law implied the willingness to "do the time" for your actions or some such. Has anybody sued by RIAA not settled out of court? If so, they are not getting much notice.

Woohoo! Now my computer will COSPLAY when I do!
(because nothing is sexier than a 25 yr old man with hairy legs wearing a sailor moon outfit)
Honestly, I see our church projection system PC break almost every other week and we have to resort to overheads for the lyrics.
Eh? You project the lyrics to the hymns? Now *that* is a hi-tech church.
Does your preacher uses slide shows as an aide to his sermon?
What happens when they have to re-install?
I guess the same updates that are available now will be available then. Only, they'll not be supported. I doubt (didn't RTFA) that Microsoft will eradicate the patch files from their site.
like dating or sales... it's all a numbers game; just keep plugging away at it. You *will* eventually hit gold
Tell that to Johnny Bravo.
Look at it this way, how much more of an uproar would there be if KFC started selling deep fried, wild Bald Eagle or Condor burgers?
Nobody would notice, anyway. They taste just like chicken.
I dunno... I guess in the long run it makes sense. But it's still cheaper and more convenient for me to just pay one of the neighborhood kids to do it.
He. I tought it was more funny than flamebaiting.
How long before it gets added to debian or gentoo as a package?
"apt-get install freebsd" or "emerge freebsd".
There goes my productive day... Now I *have* to try this. I'll set up a linux box and see if I can depenguinate it.
He... even the name's funny.
I gave the Sims a try and couldn't keep with it. Frigging clock ran like a runaway train, even at the slowest mode.

I'm not looking forward to the Sims 2.

Come on now, you know that would require creativity and a capacity for originality!
And even when they dream up a non-wizards-and-dragons genre, they end up being unoriginal.
For example: Anarchy Online and Star Wars Galaxies. Same game mechanics, different window dressing.
Ok, now that I re-read my post, I wasn't clear enough. Yes, all those actresses you mention are quite an eyeful, but they all became involved in projects that stink to high heaven.

Totally correct. It is their legal right.
I have actually seen a TOS that said that the ISP's decision were final. They gave you two oportunities to appeal to them, but after that, whatever they said, went. Not sure if this would hold up in front of a real judge.
This was really a genius move.
I'll say! Sometimes I find myself humming the songs long after I finish playing. The "chat" station is also a nice touch.
GTA:VC has one of the coolest game settings since Intersate '76 (which featured a GREAT sountrack, altho not the lincesed kind).
Jet Set Radio Future also has a catchy soundtrack (in a mediocre game).
"PI the final frontier"
Is that a Magnum P.I./Star Trek crossover? Never heard of it. Now, shut up and give me your lunch money!
I really hate, I mean I - HATE - those god awful gianormous skyscraper towers that blast out 90dB of concentration breaking whirring and grinding sounds.

Besides, this guy had a GPA of less than 3.5. Better get cracking if you want that Nobel prize, pal.
I dunno... there's always the Peace one. What was Mother Teresa's GPA anyway?
I tought it went:
Those who can, do
Those who can't teach
Those who can't teach, teach teachers
Those who can't teach teachers, teach gym.
It also doesn't help that the show was downright boring.
